I'm so happy specialty stores like this still exist, and I hope as a community we can continue supporting them. There is no replacement for the years of expertise these shopkeepers bring to the retail experience. There is a large parking lot in front of the store, which is convenient because the neighborhood tends to be pretty busy. And the parking enforcement can be quite unforgiving in the area.

But what I've grown to love best about them is their outright disdain for the lowest form of "hobbyist": The drone bro. Call it a "multicopter" all you'd like, pal, but your cheap piece of plastic trash is, at best, flying camera gear and, at worst, a suburban air rights debate just waiting to be solved in the most hostile way possible. I'm pleased that Hillsboro Hobby has never catered to these plugs, and I wish them continued success in selling the exact type of anti-air countermeasures that make these guys think twice about flying them over residential areas.

I got a call that my order was in, however that's what they said. I asked where and what as I was a little confused who was calling and what they were talking about. The gentleman then proceeded to ask me why I didn't buy it from the hobby shop where it was shipped too, I said look I bought what my husbands friend sent me that he wanted and was on sale for Black Friday. That's it. I went in today to pick up my order and my experience totally changed. Greg the owner and so had a wonderful conversation and Greg does have a deep voice and can easily be taken wrong, and I have a TBI and definitely can take things wrong. I left the place and will definitely be back, my draft before posting said I never would. I will order directly through him next time or just go in the store as they don't have a benefit or compensation at all from the Hobby place I ordered from yet it let's you ship to a small business and that doesn't make sense to me and I won't do it again but I will definitely go in and shop small and local next time my husband needs anything from the hobby store. Definitely more land-oriented and is mainstream brand oriented (Traxxas, Axial, Spektrum, Horizon, Lectron, E-Flite, etc...), but is a good place to get parts when you need for those brands. Good for general hobby gear. Connectors, tools, couple/few TX and RX options for land and air. Don't expect to find most brands you'll find at online retailers that pedal in the cheaper/more generic Chinese goods. TGY, HK, Orange and whatnot. Owner can come off a little rude when you first meet him, but he means well and will get you taken care of and is a wealth of information. We're all just people and I'm sure there are some he rubs the wrong way at first meet (me, included, but no lie he's a great guy I've found over time!) and some that he clicks with.

I came in for this pad of special paper they carry, and ended up walking out with a dozen different items! They have a bit of everything there. Oh, Wheels Dealer, how you have my heart…read more I came in here on a mission to find a specific car and spent hours just enjoying looking through the loads of cars (and I'm not much of a car person). It's located in a car dealership filled with some of the most kind-hearted people. Seriously, what's in their coffee? Every single person who worked around here was so genuinely kind. It's accessible and easy to find a parking spot upfront. When you walk in, you'll be greeted by Coco, the bird. Don't be alarmed when they go from "hi darling" to a screech while you're digging in the store. The owner, Randy, was a joy. He had a Hot Wheels holiday sweater on and was like a Hot Wheels elf running around. Every question, he answered. He was also extremely knowledgeable about those special cars you are looking for and had like radar sensors to find them. This is definitely a collector's heaven, but if you're like me and want to buy some specific Hot Wheels for some specific kids to shove up their noses or whatever, this is also the place for you. There were several bins filled with used Hot Wheels to dig through and pick out. I was able to get a full construction site out of Hot Wheels! Prices are extremely fair, and the owner also helps you find things in your price bracket. There was no problem when I changed my mind or switched a new Hot Wheel for a used one. He let me just dig around and have a blast. I recommend this place for families, for sure. As for collectors, there were a few collectors who were here while I dug around, and they said this is the spot to go to. So if you're a collector, definitely give this place a look. Not to mention, the collectors here were so incredibly kind and generous with answering more questions I had and sharing the love of Hot Wheels with others.

Inside? Same owner I remembered from decades ago. That alone blew my mind. The inventory is unreal. Every one of my fandoms -- PEZ, Hanna-Barbera, Godzilla, King Kong, classic monsters -- all crammed into this cozy, nostalgia‑soaked cave of wonders. I could pretend I tried to play it cool, but who am I kidding? This place fed my soul. Did I buy more than I should have? Absolutely. Do I regret it? Not even a little. Prices are firm, but honestly, they're fair -- and half this stuff you never see in the wild anymore, even on eBay. If you love vintage collectibles, this shop isn't just a stop -- it's a pilgrimage.
