Cute table top board games store in Oregon City. They have great selection of games including used ones with lower prices. Like many game stores there are tables and chairs to play them in and events for enthusiasts. And they do have Pokémon cards. Love the decor! There is a lighted faux tree inside that extends to the ceiling w/characters in the branches. Various parts of the store is decorated with gnomes. Check out my photo of one in karate gear and pose. The backyard and patio area is decorated even more gnomes and wildlife. Customer service is helpful and polite. Street parking was fine on a Friday holiday. Friendly neighborhood game shop. Staff has always been super helpful over the years, especially with getting sought after TCG in the current market. They have a great list system for releases and are diligent about following up and they don't mark up the pricing. They host game nights, etc., and the store offers an array of board games, card games, and lots of puzzles. Our 5 year old had a blast sorting through some of their lil jars of figures and cards to take home. Took home a new domino set on our most recent visit as that is our daughter's current obsession! read more

Visited on Root Night and had a great time. For the $5 entry fee, you get a credit token towards a purchase which is amazing value. They have some bevys and snacks available and the other players were pretty friendly. When we finished our games and were waiting for the last of our group to finish, we chatted with some of the friendly staffers. What nice guys! My first visit to a game store and we had a great conversation. The most impressive part was that my friend in a wheelchair was able to enter and navigate the sales area with ease. She was very happy about that and I was too. They have a LOT going on for game nights, used games, great organization and selection. Spacious, converted house with broad selection of games in easy to find categories at full MSRP. Cloud Cap is the only store in town with imported games from around the world. Well done! Cloud Cap also scores points for having a large selection of gently used games for sale at 50-60% of retail. They sometimes buy/trade games, but the process is bulky and inconvenient, and oftentimes only seasonal. Mid-week game events are well attended and organized. Sometimes the Cloud Cap staff aren't the best communicators, and if you make a special order or request via telephone, they may not get it right. Best to email and confirm in writing. Face to face customer service is good during the week when the store's staff can focus. On the weekend, they struggle to do anything more than run the register. Overall, one of the better game stores in the greater Portland area. read more

Do you know for a person that doesn't play many board games I sure do enjoy a good game store... not sure exactly why, but I've always wanted to be one of those people that can unwind with something challenging for your mind and not just something that physically tires me out, or the exact opposite, a glowing square... now my youngest son loves puzzles and board games. How do you say no to that? We also saw the word games and my oldest who loves Rubiks cubes oddly enough and thought we could come in here and kind of see what they have going on now my older son decided to get a pack of Pokémon cards for each him and his little brother and this place had them at a great price of four dollars a pack, which is where it should be lets be honest. Didn't pull any great cards, but we did support a local business and that's always fun. They also have a cool thing here where for five dollars you can rent one of the elaborate expensive board games for three days which would make a very good Friday Saturday Sunday rental. If you want to have some fun now realistically it takes me about four or five times to learn even the most basic a board game so this isn't for me but I think it's a great idea and to be honest, it reminded me of the days I'm going to Blockbuster and renting video game systems, and all sorts of fun stuff and trying to make the most out of the few days you have with them. This is a great idea. It's a great shop and it's very local to me. I hope y'all can come in and support it so that we can keep downtown GRESHAM booming. read more

Such a fun game store! The staff is always friendly, it's never too busy, and there is a large assortment of games and puzzles.

This is such an amazing shop! It's like going to PAX, except condensed in a friendly, affordable shop. I really loved chatting with the shop owners, who clearly have played multiple games and can select one that's just right for you. I ended up using the yelp check-in coupon to get two co-op games, as more investment would result in an over-burdened duffel bag already. While my memories are a bit hazy, I will say that if you're looking for a hidden gem, you may not find it, but if you're looking for the top 10 anything, you'll likely find it here. Cloud Cap Games has to be one of the most inviting stores in Portland. Sure, there are a lot of board game stores in town, but Cloud Cap also has a nice selection of jigsaw puzzles, including Ravensburgers and the Pomegranate series that features the artwork of Mike Wilks, as well as card games and other games you never thought you'd be interested in. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. We have a friend who's really into jigsaw puzzles and while we were asking about a specific puzzle that we couldn't find on their shelves the staff member checked on her computer to see if they could order it. Great service. As it turned out the puzzle we were looking for was in stock, tucked away in their display window. Neat, clean, sensibly organized, welcoming and inviting store. Puts you into a playful mood. Great place to stop by and simply browse, though you'll probably end up at least tempted to buy a new game or puzzle. read more

They do not stay true to their word. Quoted me a price for a pre order, then when it came time to buy it they raised the price higher than everyone else. After the person told me that they wanted to be the cheapest in town to take care of all the kids that come in there. So now, you are literally the most expensive in town. If you want to get ahold of me Ill gladly change my review but what you did was messed up. You are organized enough to take notes on the customer but you do not keep them in the loop? This is one of the cutest board game stores I've ever seen. The displays are bright and fun, and the store is clean and family friendly. I love the tree in the middle of the room. They have a great selection of board games, especially if your just looking to get started into boars games. Their displays are built for easy shopping but assorted them into categories. Visited this store a few months ago when they had their annual "garage sale" with the BF. Initially I was not thrilled to be going, but he talked me into it, and I'm really glad he did. Cloud Cap is definitely smaller than Guardian Games (where we usually go, because it's a lot closer), but they have a fantastic selection of games in a really nice space. The folks behind the counter were really helpful, especially when I asked about a game that looked interesting but I hadn't heard of it. One of them had played it a few times, and gave me a quick run down of the game, and I ended up buying it. One thing I really liked was the outdoor patio. It's a great space to play games on a nice day and none of the other gaming stores I've been to, have an outdoor space with tables. Overall, I walked away with two new games that day (one used game that I bought for $5) and told the BF, that I definitely wanted to go back in the future. At some point in the past couple of years things changed. Music, books and games all became digital and 'sharing' began to mean data files rather than face-to-face interaction. With this digital revolution, I put game shops on par with bookstores and I fear for their continuing existence. Earlier this year, the Looking Glass Bookstore closed just down the road and so it is my fondest wish that places like Cloud Cap are able to survive. So, I encourage you all to go retro and rather than get all your gaming on electronically, consider buying a board game. Cloud Cap gets my vote for the best game shop in Portland. Not only for the selection, but the large game room that allows you to test out a game before you buy. The staff has been helpful and ready with suggestions on every visit. The space is great and well organized with games for the family, those based on strategy and there is even a horror section. While millions reach for the latest edition of Halo, I'll be kicking it old school. Friends, bowl of junk food, libations, thrash talk, and BOARD GAMES make for a pretty perfect winter night. While I miss my neighborhood wine shop (which is no longer in my neighborhood), Cloud Cap, with its cozy well stocked arsenal of boxed card and dice awesomeness, is a more than acceptable replacement (Thankfully not another bank, salon, or antique store). Having been raised on a steady diet of Cribbage, Chess, Big Boggle, Monopoly, UpWords, Scrabble, Clue, Mouse Trap, Risk, Sorry, and Stratego gaming is in my nature. But while the classics are still classic, over the past ten years we've come to love Settlers, LOTR Risk, Stone Age, Ticket to Ride, Acquire, Blokus, and Set. That sounds like a lot, but like the wine, cheese, tea, and coffee worlds, the realm of board games has a lot of breadth and depth. Where tasting nights at Vino often expanded my wine palette , Cloud Cap's planned game nights should do the same for my gaming. I'm looking forward to trying out Dominion, Agricola, Puerto Rico, Ticket to Ride Europe, and Dixit, as well as anything else the friendly owners decide to highlight. Cloud Caps radiates warmth and whimsy (and has a room with two huge tables and a plethora of games to test drive). As others have recently written, this is an amazing store, chock full of all sorts of games. We came here looking for a travel size backgammon set. Cloud Cap had an overabundance of backgammon sets. :-) This included a beautiful hand-carved set from India. We ending up buying a nice set for $20 that easily fits into a daypack. The gal working there mentioned that they have BYOB game nights and invited us. It does sound fun. We wondered how they could get away with alcohol on the premises, but per OLCC rules, if the alcohol is not sold and it is after business hours, then it is OK. read more

The games are nicely organized, and they usually have a game or two out for you to try out. Not to mention they have a shelf full of games you can rent out - $5 for 3 nights and if you ended up buying the game, they'll subtract out the rental fee (I remembered hearing about this, but can't find it on their website, so YMMV). This business is a great addition to Sellwood! I'm defiantly looking forward to them to growing their selection a bit, but for just opening they have quite the selection. When you walk in the first thing you see is a giant tree. I love that about it. The games are sorted by various categories. I was excited to see various Catan expansion packs that I haven't seen before. The gal at the store was great, she noticed us drooling over the Catan and recommended a couple other games. I think the coolest part is the room in which you can set up a game and just play away. I defiantly see this place becoming a great hangout joint in Sellwood. Maybe add a little coffee bar and I could spend hours here trying out every game! I hear a rumor of game nights.... I hope this isn't just a rumor. read more
