Stumbling across Board Bard Games after dining at a nearby favorite restaurant was a fantastic find, and I'm glad to know I don't have to drive all the way across town whenever I'm looking for a new board game, some dice, a new RPG book, a pack of [insert your favorite] TCG cards, miniature paints, brushes, and all manner of other gaming geekery and gear! Apparently everyone else in the immediate area got the memo before I did, because the place was *packed* with patrons playing pretend with painted plastic proxies of pistol-packing Primarchs punishing patrols and parties of pan-universal peoples...in this case, Warhammer: Kill Team. Every table was entirely covered with detailed terrain, miniatures, books, cards, tape measures and beverages, surrounded by gamers bent forward in ergonomically-unfriendly hunched positions, guaranteed to cause back problems in the future! It's not the largest gaming space in the city, but they pack a lot of product, and people, into it, utilizing every square inch of their real estate to its fullest. I saw several games that I own, or want to own, and enough of everything any nerd would need for the game that fits their fancy. I was very impressed, and will definitely be back in the future, likely sooner than later, the next time my dice betray me and end up in Dice Jail™.

I have gone a few times over the past year, and have felt the same dissatisfaction each time. With the scarce options in Gresham for games, I felt I should give them a couple chances. The video game selection is meek if that. With the most variety for new gen consoles XB S/X and PS5 (This would be fine if they didn't price things as badly). The sections for "retro" games are pitiful, with laughable selections. Any game you came in hoping to find, they've either priced it way too high in the glass case, or they don't have it. Serious price gouging overall, this can't be stated enough. It feels like a basement selection of games that nobody wants, or everyone already has. They even offer games that no longer have online services, rendering them useless to the buyer, at the same price as when these games released 5+ years ago. Do those games come with a warning before or after you buy them? At one point I was on the look out for an original Wii controller, when I called the store I got such vague answers. "We might have them" or a long sales pitch on their off branded Wii controllers sold in store (surprise! They are horrible quality and barely catch a read on the sensor bar) Surely they know the quality of these second market controllers they are selling/ promoting? Just a waste of money and time. The main attraction of this store seems to be the tabletop gaming. They have many events during the week, and I think that is helping with the overall traction of people going in and out of the place. It can't be their prices or selection! I truly think this place would be better off just pivoting to exclusively tabletop games, or AT LEAST take "retro" out of the name. Either way- if you're looking for retro games, don't waste your time here.

He wasn't filming anyone without consent, and he's always quick to stop recording if asked. His goal is simple: highlight unique local spots and give them well-deserved attention. What he does is free promotion--something especially valuable in today's economy. As someone who lives in Portland, I'd never even heard of your shop until his video. I was excited to check it out, but the way the filming was shut down--despite no signs posted and no harm being done--left a negative impression. That said, I want to be clear: I don't want to hurt your business. I want to support it. That's why I was disappointed. Gresham and Portland need more visibility and community support, and creators like Klearski help make that happen. He left feeling discouraged, and I believe this could've been handled differently--maybe even turned into a great opportunity. Your staff was kind, and there's no ill will. I just hope next time, the door stays open to creators who are genuinely trying to help businesses like yours thrive.

Anyways they have a wide variety of games. A lot of games you don't see in regular store like Target and stuff. Prices were decent and the people were really nice. The owner or sale person, really knows a lot about games and such and can give you a lot of good suggestion. The store was nice and clean. They follow covid guidelines. I really love this place…read more First off the employees are amazing. I go in there a lot with my 2 year old to just pick up Magic cards. I forgot her name but there is a red girl there that is so great. She always talks with my son and even broke out a little ball and played with him while i searched for cards. She then even let him have a couple practice decks from another game. He loved it and she was amazing. I mean they are just a good group. I went in yesterday to trade in some cards for some boosters. I was 2 dollars short on my trade was gonna put it on my card and the guy behind the counter took out his wallet said here ya go and used his own money to help me out instead of me using my card. The prices are great and the events are a lot of fun! If you are a hardcore gamer or just a casual one this is a great place to go!

Waited a few days and finally got an offer on my cards. Offer was ridiculously low. I said no thanks, I'll come get my cards. As soon as I said I wasn't interested Steve was rude over the phone. Tried arguing with me about the value of the cards, their condition, etc. I told him I wasn't interested in arguing and would simply come get my cards. Went in an hour later and Lo and behold, some were missing. I mentioned this to Steve. I noticed his hands were obviously shaking. As soon as I said something about the missing cards he got extremely defensive. He acted like I had accused him directly (which I did not, I understand mistakes sometimes happen). He then tried to escalate the situation, raising his voice in the crowded store and yelling at me in front of dozens of people. It was Friday night, they were hosting a game night. Steve continued to yell at me, even as I walked out. Unprofessionalism, cards disappearing, and insultingly low offers seem to be par for the course, judging by the reviews. Cody was helpful, knowledgeable, kind, fair, and very funny. They all traded cards in and got great store value for it. They had a huge selection of pokemon at reasonable prices.
