I went in to check out their Magic the gathering selection and to see if they had the new affordable commander deck but stayed for their various board games that they had in stock. The prices were about general to what other game stores would sell but what stood out was how friendly the staff was. They were very welcoming and asked if I had any questions on what I was looking for. The store itself seemed like it was well managed and there were many tables lined up for Magic and pokemon tcg tournaments. It's hard to come across different stores that have a big set up but Batcave Games did a good job of utilizing their space.

I could literally go on and on about how much I love this place! I want to start though with some of the other comments about them being rude. You guys need to understand you are going into a magic/Pokémon card store. Generally people that play or collect cards are generally awkward people (like myself). It takes some time for them to open up to you. This isn't a one stop shop. This is your number one card store. Everything I own I have bought from them. I have devolved a relationship with all these people. So much so that they call me if they have a card I'm after. I finished my collection because of that call and I am so so grateful. I adore everyone here and I will always buy my cards/pack/anything pokemon from this wonderful place!! Thank you so so much for being so wonderful!

I was bored and needed to burn some time late at night. I saw a board game place and decided to check it out. They had the most impressive collection of board games I've seen in Clark County. The employee I spoke with was knowledgable and was able to suggest some games based on games myself and girlfriend had previously enjoyed. I went with one of his suggestions, a game called "Azul". It was a hit, and exceptionally fun even with only two players.

This place rocks. Best rpg spot in town. Dice board games and figurines selection is great. Not a ton of books though.

A staple of Vancouver, WA gaming shops since forever, and the quality and available products have only increased with new management.

Used my post on their prices for advertising, rather than responding in turn. Really poor form, guys.

I want to give a big shout to this shop before it decamps for Beaverton…read more Rune & Board came into Hillsboro at a time when Hillsboro retail didn't cater to anyone under the age of, oh, 55 and certainly didn't address the interests of broad swaths of the city's population. R&B made it clear that not only were there a ton of gamers in the area whose needs weren't being addressed whatsoever, but that a knowledgeable staff and a stable space were all that was needed to give that community a home. Also, to be so inclusive of women that my longtime gamer buddy's wife was stunned when she walked in and was not only one of several women in the building, but the only one not actively buying or playing... that's how you start to need double the space. I'll admit, I don't like seeing this place go and I'm not a fan of the trend I'm seeing. We lost the town's only bookstore to Beaverton. Retro Game Store's gaming club and Gongali also moved from west of 185th to Beaverton. If Hillsboro and Forest Grove can't find the space for businesses like these--the ones that actually build communities, create third spaces, and encourage people here to join in and become part of something--they're going to keep losing both business and interest to Beaverton, Portland, and other places that are generally more encouraging. Thank you for my cherished copy of King of Tokyo, more Warhammer gifts than I likely should've purchased my friend, and all of the hours you set up shop for your regulars and newcomers. You're some of the good guys in Downtown Hillsboro, and the place will be less welcoming in your absence.

I've used several of Print & Play's services on multiple occasions: everything from purchasing various bits and bobs (meeples, tokens, etc), to printing custom cards, hex tiles, and even game boards. Apparently they even do 3D printing now, as well! Turn around time for most orders is around 48 hours, and the convenience of being able to drive up and pick up my order on a lunch break, bypassing shipping fees, is huge, and gets the components into my hands swiftly, allowing me to continue brainstorming and testing. That is, until I get a new idea, and have to print everything over again! /facepalm I would say prices are very reasonable; I've seen similar vendors online that charge the same or more, plus shipping, for the same quality of components, so I've yet to find a competitive alternative. My only negative experiences with Admagic were years ago, when two separate custom card deck orders ended up with upwards of half of the deck misprinted or improperly cut, resulting in ugly, off-center, virtually unusable cards. It took some sorting out through several (rather frustrated) emails on my part, and a discussion with the owner, Shari Spiro. Fortunately, we had serendipitously met at PAX a few years prior, and had exchanged information when we discovered we lived in the same town, and I was in the process of designing my own game. Once everything was sorted out, I was satisfied, and continue to use Print and Play's services to this day. Board game design feels like a "one-step forward, three steps back" process at times, but I'm glad to have Admagic there to help me pick up the pieces...as well as print new ones! Just be sure to check your orders for quality and accuracy.

The two guys who work in the day are very friendly and chatty. I popped in to browse their pokemon collection. They had a good collection of packs and a few boxes. I've supported this shop for a long time, and they've supported my passion for the Pokémon TCG. I can literally see cards I once traded in sitting in their binders and display cases. But reflecting on my most recent visit, there are two issues that really stand out. 1. Trade-In and Cash Value Are Low The percentages they offer for both cash and trade are noticeably lower than other shops. A competitor priced the same cards roughly 30% higher--the only reason I didn't go with them that day was because their cash flow was low and they couldn't pay out at the time. That discrepancy alone is frustrating. 2. Staffing & Negotiation Have Become Inconsistent In the past, staff have always treated me respectfully. They weren't rude this time either, but historically they've been fair with negotiation--occasionally offering a small discount or working closer to market value. This time, that didn't happen. They insisted on giving "market value" for just one card and then even less percentage for the rest. I asked for around 40%, and we eventually agreed on a deal involving a $10 card. But at the last minute, I was pressured into dropping the deal by another ~5% "so everyone's happy." The truth is, I wasn't -- especially considering I was already accepting a lower percentage just to make the deal work. If I'm a regular customer, I don't expect special treatment, but I do expect fair negotiation. I wasn't even met in the middle at 35% on a $220 value. Bottom Line: If you're looking for a solid selection of cards and okay pricing, this shop is fine. But if you're interested in selling or trading, I'd strongly recommend going elsewhere. Unfortunately, the stereotype about some hobby shops being cut-throat with trade-ins feels pretty accurate here.
