I was surprised to find that Dice Age had moved into the corner spot previously occupied by CCG House in Orchards, but it appears nothing was lost in transition. Reasonably well stocked in board games, card games, sleeves, dice and other gaming paraphernalia, friendly and helpful staff, and a solid community of active players engaged in one form of nerdy or another at almost all times. Consistently out of stock of things, apathetic and rude employees, and the place just generates an air of cliquish gatekeeping. I don't know why these other reviews claim the staff is friendly. That hasn't been my experience at all. "Aloof" is the best I've seen out of these jokers. Even that Warhammer focused store on Burton (a game I usually associate with fascists) has nicer people. And definitely don't trust the hours on their answering machine or their sign (there's a tiny sign two feet lower with "COVID hours" which *could* have been put, you know, OVER the other sign, but no. Amazing community space! If you are a "gamer" you may know it isn't always easy to find that perfect game store for all your hobby needs. While there are many good ones, the on-brand stores like games workshop simply won't usually give you that same feeling of community. I remember my first time going in to get supplies, and more importantly, my first time playing in their game group, where I met some awesome people. Great customer service, amazing patience while I took forever with the Magic Cards (Searching through their entire Land box... it's HUGE) and they had a great deal on the cardboard boxes to help organize any cards you may find! I really enjoyed being there, the staff had great patience with my son (6 yo) and I would love to come back sans-kiddo to take more time to browse the games they have. Great room for playing with friends as well, lots of folks having fun here, and it is hard to not smile when you're there from the great energy of the place. Very rarely can I walk into a room and be the LEAST nerdy person. However, I met my match when I walked into Dice Age Games. A friendly group of 20-40yr old dudes were building spaceships and laughing about Magic Cards. Though I love Spaceships (Trekker myself) I have ZERO knowledge about the Magic the Gathering Game. That being said, I wanted to stand on a chair and yell "HELLO, MY PEOPLE!!!!" But, instead, I walked with purpose (as if I fit in) and grabbed my expansion pack for Fluxx. The gal running the register was nice, explained how I could spend lots of money there, and get some money back later for doing it. Mathiness is not their strong suit, apparently. ;) The selection of games is epic, and I *might* be checking in to see what sort of events they do, since my husband isn't a table top gamer... and I'm longing for some people who are! I'll be back, Dice Age Games. I'll spend some money there, and maybe get some back. Dang. She sucked me in. Only lost a star because I asked a generic question about the set I was buying and she didn't know. I think knowing the games should be a pre-req. It's ok, register lady. I came here to buy a card game for a birthday present. I felt like I had walked into a particularly geeky country club where everyone including the staff was playing one game or another on the massive array of tables in the middle of the store. Sadly, they were too distracted to offer any help to someone who was obviously lost, but luckily one of the other customers happened to know what I was looking for and gave me a hand. Two thumbs up for the customer, and I'm guessing that if you're big into card games and this is your social crowd you're going to have plenty of people to play with here. I noticed that they had a very large bulletin board with "looking for" type postings for various games of all colors prominently by the front door. Actually, that did surprise me as I assumed that was all done over the Internet now but what do I know? Besides the card games, I did notice a lot of painting supplies for miniature games, but are likely very helpful for anybody looking for craft supplies as well especially people looking for paint for models. read more

He also know plenty about olde bad movies; ask him about "Starcrash". Be warned the owner is dangerously loquacious, formidably knowledgeable, and sweet like candy, he even let me park my bike in the store. read more

We love this place. Located next to the now demolished Golden Skate is a tiny little strip mall with this hidden gem of a business. We happened in one day when I was reduced to walking my bike home (flat tire) and what a great thing it was because every cool, hard to find game is here. I went home with a Munchkin Christmas Expansion Pack and the Settlers of Catan Cities and Knights expansion. But best of all, we found out about a totally free and open game night. We went several times and were able to play some really cool games, 100% free. The open play brings together a bunch of game afficionados to try out new games and teach older games to newbs(that would be us). There are schedules for some other games with leagues and stuff happening on other days. Everyone was pretty friendly and welcoming, I'm not the most outgoing person and while my shyness did make for a few awkward moments, I was surprised by how friendly everyone was. There is nice selection of figures and paint and we bought this super cool Star Trek game and several of the star ships to play with. This place is definitely worth a visit and would make a great Christmas shopping location. Note about bikes; There is no lock up area. I had to chain my bike to the chainlink fence. It wasn't the most safe place to leave a bike, but I don't have a fancy $2k bike to worry about. read more

Store is clean and there is plenty of space for gaming. There is a large amount of board games to choose from, and it looked like your RPG, CCG, and Tabletop Minis games needs were well met. Board game prices were about par for the course as far as brick and mortar stores go. My only complaint, and the reason this place didn't get 4 or 5 stars, was the customer service. It was non existent. I was there on a Wednesday afternoon at around 2:45pm. It was not busy. Looked like 4 guys playing Pathfinder, and a woman watching them. No one greeted me, nobody said hello, nothing. I went straight to looking at board games. The major section I was in was right next to the guys playing Pathfinder. After about 15-20 minutes I realized that an employee or owner was right next to me playing Pathfinder because he answered the phone, came over near me at the game section, and checked on whether a game was in stock or not. I don't even think he made eye contact with me. At this point i grabbed the game I wanted and followed the man with the phone to the front of the store, made my purchase, and left. There was no small talk, no "did you find everything you were looking for?", nothing. The stores I usually shop at for my gaming needs are very friendly, very helpful. They build a sense of community and new comers are looked after so they want to come back and participate in game days and CCG events. This was about as cold as you could get. I will shop at Dice Age again when I know what it is I am looking for and can just go in and out real fast. It is right down the street from my work so it's too convenient to not shop at, but I think I will keep looking for other shops that may be more friendly so that I can join in on some game days and participate in some game groups. read more

I like to support local shops, so I don't mind spending money here, but they charge MSRP for everything. Folks are friendly and helpful and it's bigger inside than you'd think. The store itself is ok. A good selection of games and a pretty convenient location. Inside is open and easy to move around (carpets a little grungy but what do you expect). I'd be thrilled to have this as my main gaming store EXCEPT for one reason: The customer service. Like a couple other entries said - the CS is lacking. I visited in the middle of the day and said hello and tried sparking up a conversation with the owner - only to get the cold shoulder. Then he ask his wife/partner for help with something - kind of grumpily barked an order at her. Kind of felt awkward and unwelcoming - had the impression I was interrupting something by being there. I've been in here several times and have to agree that there isn't a lot of help from the staff. Just have to make planned trips into Portland for gaming. Waste the gas but get the friendly faces. read more

They had a really nice selection of games, but unfortunately their staff is horrible. One employee was too busy playing Warmachine while the other one was too busy sucking his girlfriends face. Seeing as I brought in my kids, I found that particularly offensive. We spent almost 20 minutes in that store and not once did either employee bother to see if we needed help or have any questions. So, we left and went and bought games over in Portland. If the owner ever reads this, you need to hire employees who want to work and not people looking to get paid to sit there and play games. read more

Love it. They have everything you could need for gaming, even the resin bits for customizing your minis. They have lots of different boardgames and tabletop games to choose from. The Warhammer 40K section is not as big as I would like, but overall a very good store and close to home. read more
