Came in here to buy a servo, Guys were helpful and helped me find one and he told me it will be the most powerful servo ever. He said he has never had anyone return them. Installed it and it was slower then my stock servo. Went back to return it and they said they don't take returns on installed parts. No scratches on the part or anything. All original parts back in the box and nothing was wrong with the box. He tested the servo and couldn't tell me if it was running bad or anything. Didn't honestly seem like he knew what he was doing. I asked If I could just trade it for another servo and he still declined it. Now I have a 155$ Servo that's slow. Also told me that he doesn't think they can warranty it if it's broke, then Told me I should contact them to get it warrantied. Would not recommend going here due to customer service and them not being truthful. read more

I came in too check the balance on the card and hopefully purchase something was told the cars was worn off and there was no way too check the balance. they made no effort too look back at the order history too get an I idea of what was on the card . If you purchase anything from this store please make sure it works before you leave with it! I have been sold faulty battery by Bashing Pro 3s 8000mAh 100C tried charging both new batteries but one had a dead cell would not charge! Took it back10 days later and explained to Craig an employee who basically called me a liar and told me to talk with manufacturer. I asked for manufactures number to which he kept me at his counter for twenty minutes and couldn't produce the number. Another employee decided to help and produced the number to the manufacturer within 30 seconds. I'm a little torn because the new owner seems like a good guy. I will never purchase anything from there again and will tell all my RC friends about my experience. My next move is to email the better business bureau! You sell something that is crap and the customer has the receipt and the item is clearly brand new. You don't treat the customer like crap basically accusing them of trying to fraud the store. 2023 Update - One Star- Do not go! - New management. Store layout has been updated but everything else has gone massively downhill. Customer service is non-existent. Location will no longer stand behind any products they sell. Any out of box issues are referred to manufacture warranty, and any day 1 out of box issues (even ones that fully prevent use) are not grounds for returns/exchange/credit/resolution. They *DO NOT* allow returns on products anymore despite what their receipt says, and they will not work with consumers when they sell broken goods out their door. In my case I bought a UMX Twin Otter from them, it was purchased in a non-sealed and already open box (as are most all HH UMX planes) and had been removed from the box in store by the counter rep. When I got it home I found one of the prop blades on the left prop had a thin crack that had not been noticed in store. Plane has not been flown as it has a bad prop, literally unusable out of box. Called up the day after purchase. To me this seemed pretty simple and easy to fix, and I have encountered similar out of box snafus over the years at this location and others. This time though, the new team working here (or the management or ownership over them) has no interest in customer support. They will not exchange for another plane of the same type. They will not replace the Props. They are refusing full return and refund on the unused product. First they claimed it was because the plane was opened. When I pointed out the box was never sealed to begin with I was then told that it was an electronic item and not valid for return on that basis. I had ideally hoped to get resolution within the week but was willing to wait if it took longer for cross store xfers or ordering in of parts. Was told I would have to pay for any props. Overall they have lost a consistent and long term customer who has frequented their establishment for 4 heading into 5 years and previously took the time to recommend them with vigor. They say that it takes 10x the effort to get someone to post a good review rather than a bad one. This store had a good review from me, both online and IRL to everyone I met. Had is the operative word. I have requested a call back from Ownership over this issue and will update this review if anything changes. I also asked the person working the phone their personal non-employee view on if they felt it was OK for a business to refuse to refund/replace/make-right on a purchase that was unusable out of box (and therefore unused). You really need to go look at more reviews before going to this shop. The guys behind the counter are not there to sell you parts or diagnose problems, they will not help you fix issues, but they WILL make it look like the effort was put in. These hobby shop salesmen are the equivalent to psychic readers, walk in pay your $20 and they tell you that you have negative energy and will sell you prayers and spells to cleanse you of it for $40 one time or $30 per week for 10 weeks. Their money is made in large sale RC vehicles and batteries, they have a no return policy and they will throw anything similar to what you think you need at you and say this works, but if they sell you a battery they won't ask what charger you have, when you tell them it won't charge two days later, they'll tell you that it's the wrong charger but they will sell you the right charger after you already paid for the charger that the old battery used. It's a literal scam and if you read the reviews you'll see it pop up often over the years. Google reviews list it multiple times going back more than a decade. Best thing you can do is check out hobby town or do your research and buy online. These guys are traditionally 10% more expensive than internet on all their stuff, but they'll literally tell you that, they'll say the manufacturer doesn't allow them to sell it for lower prices, it will sound like sincerity, but don't let the guard down, they know by giving the bad news they'll sell you on having it now, you'll pay the extra because you didn't have to wait, but once you get it home and remove the packaging you find out they sold you the wrong stuff and you're now stuck with it or deal with the manufacturer. Friendly neighborhood hobby shop... But they barely have any modeling supplies. Not even an X-Acto blade If you like rc cars and that's it maybe it's worth the trip. As far as the aviation side of the RC hobby they have hardly anything but foamy airplanes no parts.. no covering material hardly any carbon rods . Basically not even the basics. No rc boats just not much going on there. Very disappointing. Unfortunately I've been just going online and waiting for stuff to come in..But it would be nice if a local hobby shop decided to stock the basics.. I was hoping to find some basic parts for a couple of my Align T-Rex 450 helicopters but discovered they offered nothing for one of the most popular helicopters on the market that is copied by so many other brands with an endless aftermarket parts selection that fit most 450 sized helicopters, but found nothing. Also did not see much for Airplanes other than basic bind and fly and entry level airplanes. Nothing really for serious builders or modelers looking for more advanced, 3D, Gas or Nitro, Turbine, or Giant Scale aircraft. They deal with mostly cars, so shopping online for aircraft related items makes the most sense. Would be nice to have a local retailer that focused more on aircraft and inventory at least the basics for the most popular models out there. read more

I was thinking about getting my son a rc drone for Christmas. I had every intention of buying one off of Amazon. I decided to look around at a few hobby shops to get a idea of what i wanted to buy. I found this place doing a google search. It was in my area so i ran over to check it out. I was greated when i came through the door. I looked around for like 1 min and the gentleman asked if i needed help finding anything. I told him i was looking for a drone for my son. He asked what my budget was $100. He quickly pointed to a display of drones that was priced @ $79. He showed me a send one that was on sale for $110 and it had a camera. He said he felt the one for $79 was a better drone. Now i have to admit i was shocked he wasnt pushing me to the expensive one. Bonus points to them. He answered all my questions I came back a few hours later with me son and played it very cool and pretended like he had never seen me before. Bonus points again. I wanted my son to take a look around hoping to get his opinion on what one he liked without him knowing why. The guy started flying the one around the store and my son loved it. We looked around at them for about 15 min and left. Now like i stated i planned on buying one off of amazon. Well i think i have changed my mind. They seemed super nice and helpful. Which, no he wasn't saying that. This place is horrible. They over charge on everything and I bought a rocket that didn't work off the shelf and they ended up not returning it saying it was my fault. The staff cussed at me and forced me out cause they did not want to return the bad product. They do not return bad product at this location and threaten people with violence if they want to return. I went into this shop because we were shopping for my sons first RC car. I know nothing about RC cars. We looked around for a while and then had some questions. When we asked the person working behind the counter they were very friendly, enthusiastic, and helpful. They were very knowledgeable and gave us some recommendations on products to review and some youtube videos to watch at home to learn more about some of the products that they sell in their shop. This is a business that apparently likes to visually choose which customers it would like to attract, and I guess we did not measure up to their 'standards'. When my son and I drove up and saw that there were no customers in the store, we thought that we might be able to chat and learn from the staff, since they were not busy helping other, 'serious' customers. Nope. We were wrong. I didn't even get to get one word out explaining what I was thinking about doing (3 channel/hobby grade helicopter pinion gear modification) when we were told that they don't deal with the kind of helicopter we had, and we got it from a toy store, right? Well, it happened to have been a gift from another state, so we didn't know where it had originally been purchased. The guy did tell us to try Xtreme Toys and Hobby in the Clackamas Town Center, and that turned out to be a win for us and Xtreme Toys and Hobby. My point here is that I was not against the idea of purchasing a higher quality (4 channel) helicopter if my idea was not a viable one (a high probability sale), but after the way I was cut off as soon as I walked into this store, I will never consider coming here again, nor will I be referring anyone either. My son bought his first proper RC car (traxxas slash) from this shop with money he saved and got from his birthday. The folks here were very helpful and guided us in a good car for his age and that could grow with him. It was a great purchase. Since we had a great experience with them, I returned a month later and bought my very own RC car so my son and I could share a hobby together. Since then we have been in for upgrades and batteries. Every time we go it is always pleasant and they are very helpful and share good ideas with us. We did have one issue with my son's car (something we caused) and they got us a replacement and helped us put it in. I read all the other yelp reviews, while most are positive, I'm suprised to see so many 1 star reviews. Maybe take those with a grain of salt because they are older reviews. read more

Went in the other day to pick up some stuff for the nitros older guy helped me out was supper nice but idk about this place all 3 ppl working there didn't know anything about nitros I needed air filters an they kinda looked at me like I was talking backwards older guy ended up getting some 3 in a pack an that's all they had I needed another part for my rustler they had that no problem then I asked for filter oil a pretty standard thing right ? I came in inquiring about a fairly mid range 4 x 4 RC that would be close to a Traxxas. I was told they have great cars which are called Horizon. They tell me that they are such a great car that they have had excellent feedback and are preferred over the Traxxas. So I purchased one and a battery and go home and try it. as I returned with issues I am now told I should've gotten a larger battery because his car prefers a three sell over a to sell. Sounds like just trying to sell me things I don't need.This car is clunky and the remote is also very clunky. This car has not even close to the same response as the Traxxas I purchased prior. It has an issue going into reverse and they tell me that there is a lag between forward and reverse. I have five other cars that are less than $100 each but have no lag in reverse and are very responsive compared to this expensive $300 car. At times I have to hit reverse 3 to 4 times before it works. But of course I can't take it back and purchase something else. The owner to the shop is the tightest person I have ever had to purchase from. I won't buy cars again from this establishment but maybe my parts. read more

Got to the store at closing grabbed what I needed, quickly browsed the nice rc plane selection. Chatted briefly with employees. I'll be back. Not sure what's with some of the negative reviews. One reviewer was told they don't carry a certain type of product but was told where the could find it. Sounds reasonable. The staff is arrogant with a condescending attitude, a group of good old boy crackers that can barley tolerate you asking a question, demeaning you as not worthy of their time. R/C Hobbies is a franchise, a Micky Dee's, order up and leave. If you have a problem with the product, you're a stupid user/buyer. There is no reciprocity between customer and staff, it's all about moving product at an inflated price. The Internet is a great window on price and customer service. What is the true cost of product? What are my return options? There's blog's and forums to inform us of products and product usage. If Brick and Mortar is to compete with the internet, customer service, hands on, and customer relation face time is the advantage. R/C Hobbies didn't get the memo. There are hobby shops the Portland area that did get the memo, great people to deal with that take time and care of there customers. R/C hobbies is not one of them! read more

Bad experience. Bought two cars here a year and a half ago (approximately $600). Brought them out after a winter of non-use and they were not working well, so I took them in and asked Jason if he could look at them and fix them. When I left them with him, one of the cars had some pieces which were not attached to the car (bad idea). He DID fix the problem and the cars are now running which I paid $150 for (about $100 for parts and $50 for labor). The problem is this: When I called him and told him that the battery cover and some screws were not replaced on one of the cars, (remember the loose parts?) he insisted everything was replaced on the cars. I spoke with my friend who was with me when I dropped off the car and she remembers the parts in question being left with Jason. I called back and asked him if he would call me if he finds the parts. He said they were not there. I asked him if he sells battery covers and screws. He does (about $5 for the battery cover). When I told him I was sure I left the parts, and that my friend remembered too, he told me he would look at his video surveillance because he knows he put them back together. Now, you'll just have to decide for yourself, but I think this guy's customer service was awful. After spending close to $800 in his store, and with the potential to keep shopping there as my kid may grow into this hobby, this guy was completely clueless about how to take care of a customer, and lost my business-- FOREVER-- over a $5 battery cover and a pair of screws. When he finds them, I hope he thinks about what a bad decision it was to be such a jerk. read more

The price was competitive, so I drove to the store, browsed around, and made my purchase. The two staff were helpful, the product was nicely packaged, and the experience was as good as any rc shop I've purchased from. They also invited me and my son to thier flying club event tomorrow. I went there looking around. hoping to buy local instead of online. The prices are ok, but the customer service is horrible. One employee was helpful, the others seemed bothered by my inquiries and questions. All I got from them was one word answers. I went ahead and purchased a toy quadcopter from them (they do have reasonable prices). However, I had an issue with it, took it to them and they all but accused me of lying to them. It's a real shame since they are close and have a decent selection. If you know exactly what you are looking for and don't ever need follow up assistance, I guess it's not a bad spot, but I won't be shopping there anymore.
