The two guys who work in the day are very friendly and chatty. I popped in to browse their pokemon collection. They had a good collection of packs and a few boxes. I've been to other card stores that didn't have nearly as many. I was there just to browse, but the guys working were more than happy to entertain me and answer any questions I had and also show me everything they had that might interest me.

What I expected to be another simple evening of trading card negotiations ended up being pretty…read moredisappointing. I've supported this shop for a long time, and they've supported my passion for the Pokémon TCG. I can literally see cards I once traded in sitting in their binders and display cases. But reflecting on my most recent visit, there are two issues that really stand out. 1. Trade-In and Cash Value Are Low The percentages they offer for both cash and trade are noticeably lower than other shops. A competitor priced the same cards roughly 30% higher--the only reason I didn't go with them that day was because their cash flow was low and they couldn't pay out at the time. That discrepancy alone is frustrating. 2. Staffing & Negotiation Have Become Inconsistent In the past, staff have always treated me respectfully. They weren't rude this time either, but historically they've been fair with negotiation--occasionally offering a small discount or working closer to market value. This time, that didn't happen. They insisted on giving "market value" for just one card and then even less percentage for the rest. I asked for around 40%, and we eventually agreed on a deal involving a $10 card. But at the last minute, I was pressured into dropping the deal by another ~5% "so everyone's happy." The truth is, I wasn't -- especially considering I was already accepting a lower percentage just to make the deal work. If I'm a regular customer, I don't expect special treatment, but I do expect fair negotiation. I wasn't even met in the middle at 35% on a $220 value. Bottom Line: If you're looking for a solid selection of cards and okay pricing, this shop is fine. But if you're interested in selling or trading, I'd strongly recommend going elsewhere. Unfortunately, the stereotype about some hobby shops being cut-throat with trade-ins feels pretty accurate here.

You'll find sports trading cards, sports memorabilia, magazines and comics, Disney. There's a little bit of everything. There is street parking on the East side of the building on 55th, plus one or two spaces in front on Glisan. The store accepts credit and debit cards, but on several occasions he wasnt able to accept them for one reason or another. This is definitely a quirky store with a lot of inventory packed into a very small space. Honestly, just let Lance know what you're looking for and he can probably help you find it!

Not shocked to see they are now out of business…read more Kind of an odd experience. Popped up on a Google search and happened to be a shop I hadn't heard of before, thought I'd check them out. No new issues, at all, that I could see. All back issues. Lots of other memorabilia that was neat to see, most of the vintage stuff was non-comics related. The back issues I looked through were mostly 70s and 80s era. I didn't really catch any key issues. Owner makes a lot of claims about how much inventory he has (must not be in the store), how long he's been in business (weird since I've been living here 30 years and this is the first time I've heard of them), and how he mostly sells to other shops, but other shops are ripping me off (and he ran that line no less than 3 or 4 times while I was looking around.) It's a step above shops that only have in-print graphic novels and Funko-Pops, I guess. Books are well organized and clearly marked unlike some other shops where random boxes are the display of choice. I really can't think of a reason to go back. Excalibur has more back issues, current issues and graphic novels, so does Cosmic Monkey and Cloud 9. Future Dreams has everything, but needs an organizational assistant. Floating World moved to Lloyd Center. Any of these is a better shop.

I was visiting from out of town and headed to Powell's for some used books when a fuzzy memory hit me: Wasn't there a killer vintage shop I used to buy PEZ from back when I lived in Oregon? No way it was still around, right? One quick search later... it's still alive and kicking -- and I was literally 500 feet from the front door. Fate. Destiny. The Collectible Gods smiling upon me. Inside? Same owner I remembered from decades ago. That alone blew my mind. The inventory is unreal. Every one of my fandoms -- PEZ, Hanna-Barbera, Godzilla, King Kong, classic monsters -- all crammed into this cozy, nostalgia‑soaked cave of wonders. I could pretend I tried to play it cool, but who am I kidding? This place fed my soul. Did I buy more than I should have? Absolutely. Do I regret it? Not even a little. Prices are firm, but honestly, they're fair -- and half this stuff you never see in the wild anymore, even on eBay. If you love vintage collectibles, this shop isn't just a stop -- it's a pilgrimage.
