Wow! Just Wow! Workshop Vintage is one of the best vintage shops in Portland, hands down! As you as…read moreyou walk in, immediately you know you are somewhere special. Look up, look down, look any direction and you are facing a vignette of thoughtfully selected and arranged items that look like an a Instagram photo. I had to catch my breath and slowly take it all in, then go back around for a second long, slow lap! Unlike some other vintage stores, no musky smells here, the pleasant aroma of perfumed candles tickles your senses. Stunning vintage clothing is everywhere. Carefully selected, gently worn, vintage patterns and styles the 50s, 60s, and 70s were known for immediately catch your eye. The day I was there, the dresses from the 60s and early 70s in their mod swirls of yellow, orange & lime green or fuschia, pink & white paisleys had me mesmerized. If Madmen was still in production, the female cast would shop here! There are collections of everything everywhere. Hats, handbags, boots, dresses, coats, incense, jewelry, textiles, bar ware, candles, crystals, ornaments - Workshop Vintage has it all and then some. They even have some newer items like the black leather handbag made by a local artist that I am still lusting for. Put this shop on your list of places to visit over and over again. It's a wonderful shop to experience with so many treasures to be found! In a city of vintage, Workshop Vintage totally stands out.

Plants, crystals, bones, teeth, taxidermy, bugs, books, jewelry, apparel, prints, DIY kits, feathers, & more. Some of my favorite pieces were: - The peacock taxidermy - The giraffe taxidermy - The deer jawbone (she came home with me) - The black scorpion preserved in resin (she also came home with me) - The stag beetle preserved in resin (... she came home with me too) - The rat snake preserved in liquid (she will come home with me someday) - The badger skull - The scorpion earrings by Theeth - The "Crap Taxidermy" book The staff was incredible helpful, too. They were eager to tell me more about pieces, show me things in cases, & even wrap my purchases beautifully. Some of the pieces in Paxton Gate were incredibly expensive, but still, they were priced properly. The giraffe taxidermy was $7,500. That makes sense. Some of the other items, however, I couldn't believe at how low the prices were. The deer jaw bone was $14, the black scorpion was $25, & the stag beetle was $18. What a deal! I highly recommend stopping in to this shop if you have a penchant for the macabre, like me. Fun fact: I found all four animals tattooed on me (rat snake, stag beetle, honeybee, badger) in this store.

They do not kill animals and acquire the taxidermy or the animals died of natural causes. Taxidermy is just part of the amazing store. Find stones, crystals, rocks, plants, gifts, you name it. Truly unique offerings. They also display local artists in jewelry and wall art. Check this store out to help build your eclectic collection. They are also dog friendly, wow didn't know this store could get any cooler, but you did it! Prices are reasonable and staff is very welcoming and friendly.
