My boyfriend gets distracted by shiny objects. Thankfully this distraction turned out to be useful and fun. We were passing by and he ducked into this shop when he saw some paintings on the wall and lawn ornaments displayed just inside. Inside proved to be a treasure trove of oddities and amusements. Lots of characters and figurines that look like they would fit into a Tim Burton movie. Funky jewelry, interesting art, unique light garlands (see photo) and toys. The prices are really reasonable. Everytime I went to check the price on something it was always lower than my guess. I'll definitely keep coming back here to purchase various presents for other people and maybe a trinket or two for myself. Shiny objects indeed.

While wandering down the street I was immediately drawn to this place. The ivy-covered storefront and colorful little things hanging all around on the tree and racks outside made me immediately and irresponsibly cross the street without looking both ways first. "Oooh shiny! Let's go!" The boyfriend groaned. He knows me well enough to assume that I'd be in here forever. And, well, he was right. But he ended up loving it as much as I did so it's all good. I am a knick-knack person. Trinkets, chotchkies, figurines, baubles. Anything small and whimsical that I can create little scenes with on top of my bookshelves; those are my weaknesses. I try to simplify my life by reducing the amount of "stuff" I accumulate, but these will always be my exception. I just love a good knick-knack! This store is knick-knack heaven. So many little shiny, cute, unusual things to ooh and ahh at. Aside from the little random shelf-toppers, this store has an abundance of interesting local art, creative jewelry, and an amazing collection of unique holiday decorations. All the Dia de los Muertos embellishments your heart could desire! And as small as the place seems from the outside, it goes on for DAYS inside. Follow the yellow brick road behind the counter and meander through the back of the store to find an insane collection of holiday and seasonal decorations. I love stores like these and I'll definitely be back whenever I need a good gift...for someone else or for myself. ;)

    Halloween!

After walking by this place too many times I made the effort to go in- the Dia De Los Muertos displayed was calling to me.

My Son led me here last weekend when I was in town. There was lots of notebooks, pens, and other stuff to consider, and having a Kinokuniya membership (10% off) was a bonus. David was more interested in the manga books, and we were happy browsing in our own little corners. We both happily came away with a small collection of treasures and a promise to return. There were lots of folks here, making the aisles a little tight. But checkout moved quickly and efficiently.

The store is much larger than the one in Chicago! So of course there was a much wider selection of goods, including a lot more Alien Stage items (know the teens are a fan of this show). We ended up signing up for the annual membership which gives you 10% off your purchase immediately and you rack up points (who doesn't love points) which will add up to more savings. We purchased a hard to find art book. Service was friendly, and answered all the questions we had on the membership, not rushing us at all to make the decision.

I will say the store layout was a bit interesting, with some areas that felt more cramped. It was fairly crowded when we went, so I did have to squeeze by people to make my way through the store. I spent some time browsing the clothing section and found several items that caught my eye. The clearance section was a bit disorganized and the sizes were not labeled clearly unfortunately. Customer service at Muji was friendly and adequate. The staff working in the fitting room area were especially helpful. It would've been great to have more fitting rooms available, as the line moved slowly and took up a good chunk of time. You are also limited to bringing in 5 items at a time but you can swap out items as needed. I ended up purchasing multiple tops and a few pants for everyday wear. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to browse the homewares section but was pretty satisfied with my clothing purchases and shopping experience. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

They have some really nice looking pieces from athliesure to work, I wish I had more time to try things on - but the line was long for the fitting room. The quality of the clothes looks to be on the higher end as well, with a lot of signature type styling. My purchase was rung up quickly and the cashier was also very nice & friendly! Another store I wish they had back in Illinois!
