We stopped by Kopitos after doing some trivia at a winery with friends. It was a very nice place for a meal. When we came by, they had live music, and initially had the garage door open (it was closed as the evening got cooler). Prices were high for taqueria -- but this is an upscale alternative, and certainly not expensive relative to the sit-down restaurants nearby. But, don't go thinking it'll be a quick street taco experience -- it's a full restaurant. I had the street tacos. I would have gone 5-star, except I made the mistake of asking for the green salsa, and putting it all over the tacos. They ended up being *so* spicy -- much more than I was expecting, and honestly hard for me to eat. Obviously my fault for not testing the waters carefully -- but it did affect my enjoyment of the evening. Just be forewarned! read more

This restaurant is a good choice for small gatherings, especially the location in the warmer months when you can sit outside and enjoy the weather. Our host told us they also have live music from time to time. The food is good with some interesting menu options, including quite a few seafood dishes. They also have a full bar and a friendly staff. While it's not my favorite Mexican food in Newberg (that would be El Gordito Feliz), it is a great place for hanging out for a happy hour or an outdoor get-together with friends. read more

It's a heat wave. The garage doors are up. It's a slight breeze but the air is just hot. Made for the ambience a little like an oven. It's cooler than outside but the comfort does not last for long. Very homemade fresh Mexican food - but we had fried cauliflower with jalapeño and split a spicy shrimp burrito. The tortilla was amazing! ( they make their own) and we had a side green sauce that was fire but oh so yummy! Great service and cute clean place. So the surface was great! We shared the Baja fish tacos, which were really delicious. We also ordered the guacamole which comes with fried pork rinds. Which is OK but not great. Just a little too heavy. I asked if I could get it with tortilla chips because the special of the day was a soup that came with chips, but I was told I couldn't have chips with my guacamole. Who doesn't love a good happy hour! The menu is simple but it's still difficult to choose because everything sounds delicious. There's gluten free options and something for everyone. I had the crab tostada and street tacos with a pineapple margarita. This was the perfect amount of food and I definitely left happy. I wish I had room for dessert but that just means I'm coming back. I discovered Kopitos when it was just a food truck at various popup event locations. Since then, a brick and mortar location in downtown Newberg opened. It's been opened awhile and I finally made it on a warm day and live music was exploding on the patio. The margs were fantastic and the tacos were delicious. It's a great addition to downtown Newberg when you are craving Mexican food after a long day of wine tasting. Kopitos has become our "go-to" place for Mexican in this area. First, the service is super-friendly and attentive. The food always comes out faster than what we expect no matter how many customers are there. Admittedly we havent been there during a "rush" period so I cant speak to whether or not they slow down during peak hours. I love their drinks menu. There is always something fun to try. The atmosphere is very nice. You can sit inside or out. I like it when they have the "garage doors" open to let in the fresh air. I wouldnt call the menu "limited" but it also isnt like some of the Mexican restaurants you go to that list 200 different items (which is a GOOD THING). We've always been able to find something to eat no matter what mood we are in. We were told the recipes are family recipes and I think those are the best kind of places to go. What they do, they do well and they dont try to have every Americanized Mexican dish on the menu. My one comment would be: it would be nice to have salt at the table. For me, some of what I've had could use just a BIT more salt, but I admit I like my food on the salty side. Definitely a five-star experience! I highly recommend stopping by. read more

I really wanted to like this place. I like the outdoor and patio atmosphere. Great Vibe. However, the food is just ok ! I ordered guacamole for an appetizer, it was fresh but lacked flavor/salt. Lack of seasoning and flavor plagued our entrees. The enchiladas with potatoes on the side were nothing special/no spice. Just blah. The Ranchero Plate was probably the highlight. The steak had flavor, but a bit dry. It came with plain jasmine rice, black beans,, the corn tortillas were warm fluffy, and were good. I am being generous at a three. Oh my goodness! If you haven't been, you must go! I'm a picky eater when it comes to eating out - my husband loves street tacos and I have not loved them anywhere but here!!! These are hands down amazing. I also don't love cod due to the fishy taste- however these were so fresh, I will be ordering them next time! I ordered the New York tacos, which I was worried would be tough however these were marinated amazingly, tender and the spices were on point. I haven't even gotten to the drinks yet- I would highly recommend their guava margaritas!! Last but certainly not least, their service is timely, friendly and just all around inviting. A magical experience here! The appetizers were delicious - we had the Fried Cauliflower and the Garlic Shrimp. I loved the evening chicken special, wrapped with tasty spices in a big banana leaf, coming out so tender and tasty. And then the home made ice cream and lemon cheesecake - yummy! The magic came through with the service and the ambiance. We sat in the perfect place outside where we could hear the music - and each other. Lovely experience- Bart from Hit Machine played great music. Mariam was a lovely host. Cook Dulce/Candy made delicious cauliflower and camerones a la diabla. Rice, guacamole, were awesome. Outstanding food! The best burrito I've ever had! Stuffed with crispy carnitas, shredded lettuce, pico de gallo, avocado - no beans - the outside grilled with a nice crisp, I devoured it! Typically I'd only eat half and trust me, I was satisfied after eating half, but it was so good I finished it in one sitting! Another friend had the sautéed shrimp and chicken dish and he absolutely loved it. Generous portion, perfect spice level, a delicious dinner. The carnitas torta was another winner, a large, overstuffed sandwich, a flavor bomb! Everything we had we loved. Located on the side of Methven Family Vineyards tasting room in downtown Dundee, you will see the bright yellow food cart. I recommend stopping at a Methven for your last stop on a day of wine tasting since they are open until 8pm. Grab some fresh and delicious food from Kopitos to accompany your wine or beer, and sit at a table on the lawn and enjoy the live music. Perfection. First off drinks are overpriced 13.00 for a small water glass sized margaritas is no Bueno! Baja tacos were good, however the steak tacos not so good, I didn't like the chimichurri on the tacos. They don't offer chips or salsa, and twenty dollars for appetizers !?! Fortunately Newberg is full of Mexicans restaurants with plenty of better choices. We're in Newberg for a short visit and found Kopitos Cocina through Yelp. Our party included 3 adults and one toddler. All around a great experience. Friendly staff, DELICIOUS mojito (not too sweet!), and tasty, tasty eats. We ordered the New York steak tacos, vegetarian tacos, and Baja style fish tacos. All were excellent. The chimichurri on the NY tacos was to die for. They also had off menu items for kids, including quesadillas, burritos, beans, and rice.
