This place is a full experience. It's meant to be savored and enjoyed, not rushed through and consumed. If you come to Thistle be prepared to spend some time here. It's not that service is slower per se, but the chefs are taking their time to create delicious food. True farm to table. Please read about them in their website! That said I wasn't expecting to spend 2 hours here. It was good but I had other places to be! The food was pretty good too. We got to meet the executive chef which was a fun experience, and the staff were all very friendly. There is an odd vibe there, that I can't quite place. Almost creepy/haunted feeling. I felt it the whole time and it was a bit unsettling. However my wife and I enjoyed a nice meal. Portions are smaller and price is way up there, so be prepared to spend. The whole thing is the freshest you ever will experience at a restaraunt. That alone is worth so much!

We chose Thistle to celebrate my son's birthday, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. My friend and I flew in from North Carolina, making this our first visit to the restaurant--and it did not disappoint. We started with the Bread and Fat, along with the Roasted Beets served with arugula, aioli, and maple honey. Both appetizers were absolutely delicious. For our main course, my friend and I had the Cornmeal-Crusted Rockfish, which was cooked to perfection--crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. My son ordered the Strip Loin and found it to be just okay, while my son-in-law opted for the Housemade Pasta and said it was excellent. The desserts and drinks were outstanding, perfectly complementing the meal. The warm, inviting ambience made for a wonderful and relaxing dining experience. Overall, Thistle exceeded our expectations, and I highly recommend it for a special occasion or a memorable night out.

If this waitress greets you get up and walk away. Seriously! By far the worst waitress I've ever experienced. Plenty of other fantastic and friendly restaurants within walking distance of this joke of a place.

I think what I appreciate the most about this meal was the accessibility. It was top quality food but at an accessible price. The portions weren't huge but it was good food for the price. We started with the cheese plate. Well thought out selection of cheeses with accoutrements. Again fairly priced for what we got. I got the pork. Very flavorful with the honey jus. I hate squash but I could eat squash if it came like this. Tender and just a pleasant bite. My wife got the fish. She was very impressed. Cooked perfectly and well supported by the sides The star was dessert. Best panna cotta I've ever had. Perfect texture and nice subtle flavor. The honeycomb is a fun addition too. Overall the food wasn't extra memorable but the experience certainly was. I'd definitely come back to try different things. Solid date night choice

Stellar meal and service. Started with steak tartare, pork remoulet (like a pate spread), and greens. Great for sharing with the bread plate. Entree of rabbit, gnocchi, and rock fish made for fun sharing with friends, and the panna cotta was a great finisher. Portions are on the smaller side but dishes were wonderful and succulent.

Yes, that is a pig's head wrapped in plastic wrap and sitting in a plastic bin on the stoop of the main entrance

My dining party were all very highly looking forward to dining here, but we only got as far as the front door. Why? Look at my photo and you'll see. Sitting on a plastic bin on the stoop of the front entrance was a whole pig's head, wrapped in plastic wrap. Why? That's a darned good question, but none of us cared to find out why. If it was something that was going to be prepared for diners, it shouldn't be sitting in an uncontrolled environment. If it was refuse, it should have been disposed of properly. If it was something that somebody else was supposed to pick up, why was it just sitting on the stoop? Why make potential guests walk around and potentially over it to enter the establishment? All the pig's head did was raise a bunch of red flags, so we left and dined at a nice pizzeria just around the corner and down the street instead.

The fresh tomato gazpacho. Perfect on a hot summer night

They have a large list of cocktails, mocktails and other non-alcoholic beverages, as well as beer and wine. They can make all the traditional cocktails. A regular told me the manhattan is top notch, but the cherries aren't the best he's seen. Cherry seemed alright to me. They also have several house cocktails and a few specials to choose from. Between us 4, we tried several different cocktails. We even tried the house cocktail designed for the bitterest of liqueurs, Jeppson's Malört. All were deemed tasty by all! They offer several food items from a full kitchen, including appetizers, sandwiches, salads, breakfast, and dinner. They even have veggie burger, gluten free crackers, and gluten free (GF) fried chicken! ! ! Free parking on the street. I came upon Cypress and although the menu seemed limited at first, their options were all intriguing. We set a reservation for 5:30 on a Saturday. When we walked in there was only one older gentleman in the whole place so we were greeted promptly and sat immediately. I was wondering that since no one was there, that I perhaps made a mistake. That was NOT the case. Plants lined the ceiling and the bar and made the space beautiful and inviting. Very nice ambiance! We started with a special appitizer, Halloumi cheese and sweet potatoes. Oh man, absolutely incredible flavor and texture. That season and sauce on these were spectacular. If they are offer this, get it! We then had their seasonal salad which also was fantastic! Light and flavorful and we ate every bite. She got the salmon and I got the short rib and a side of brussel sprouts to share. All were incredible. The flavor experience here is off the charts. We kept saying how amazing the meal was all throughout the evening. I had 2 old fashions and my beauty had 2 paper planes. Both cocktails were far above average. They were excellent! You can't have a great overall experience without a fantastic server. Harmony was amazing! She checked in on us regularly ensuring everything was good and filling our waters. By this time the place was filling up with guests but we still had the same level of service. Thank you, Harmony. The pricing is what you would expect for an amazing meal. It was just over $200 including top for 4 drinks, 2 entrees, 1 appetizer, 1 salad, 1 side. It was so worth it! This was an incredible meal that my wife and I really enjoyed! The atmosphere is definitely "loungy," but clean and warm. The lighting is low (perfect for hiding how much we eat) and the big tufted leather (faux, not sure, but very comfy) booths are great. Service is friendly and prompt, and if you are a regular you get an even friendlier greeting, like Norm from Cheers. We keep hoping someone will yell our name when we walk in, but so far, no luck. Lately, we opt for the bar countertop, which is harder to score than a winning lottery ticket on most nights at prime dinner time. This night, Noah was our server. He is always friendly and a genuinely nice person. Tonight, we heard about his vacation trip to see his grandmother in New Zealand--we were so engrossed we almost forgot to order our food! It amazes me how incredibly busy this bar restaurant is--full to the brim--and the staff (typically 2 servers/bartenders and 2 cooks) manage to stay friendly, tell stories, and never miss an order, check, or payout of a lottery ticket. Most nights when we go it's just Hailee working. How Hailee handles THE WHOLE BAR by herself is incredible to witness; we think she might be a magician. We love Noah, but Hailee is our favorite. The food is excellent; you can order anything on the menu and it will be good. We love the Grilled Cheese and Tomato Sandwich (sub soup, didn't know it was a $3 adder--my wallet had a mild heart attack, but it was worth it). The sandwich cost $10 and typically comes with a generous portion of fries or tots. The clam chowder was delicious, savory with lots of clams. The sandwich has a lot of gooey American cheese and the tomato slices are fresh and juicy; this meal is an incredible value at $10. We also love their club sandwich: turkey, bacon, tomato, lettuce, and cheese on toasted sourdough, $14, served with a generous portion of fries or tots. This lounge is for adults only (sorry, kids, no tots for you here) and a cash-only establishment (so hit the ATM first, unless you want to wash dishes). Blue Moon is a local favorite and is doing a wonderful job keeping the prices reasonable for a blue-collar community in a "bougie" neighborhood. If you're visiting McMinnville, stay away--this place is for locals only (kidding, not kidding). It's a five-star experience without the five-star prices.
