But to stay on topic and not go on and on about how exciting it would be for me to go to a UFO festival I will delve onto the beers I had from this brewery. I had two beers from ForeLand and both were very solid! Probably my favorite was the Glass Volcano, a dark lager with a great roasty, coffee flavor with a bit of sweetness. It then has a clean finish which contributed to a very enjoyable lager overall. Mesmeric Gaze was the next beer Steve and I enjoyed. It was an IPA with very fine flavors of pine and citrus generating a slightly tropical reminder. One of the better IPA'S I have had in the last month or so. Definitely a rewarding beer experience with this brewery and a worthy stop to make regardless if UFO's are involved or not.

Served on sourdough versus rye, and it had dijonaise? It needed more. The grilled sourdough needed more grilling as well. The accompanying fresh cut french fries were great. You order at the counter, and host, Ryan was quite friendly and knowledgeable. My wife had the recommended Boneyard RPM and she loved it. I stuck to Sierra Mist after the wine. Unfortunately, the way we were treated made us feel anything but welcome. Our 3-year-old was playing with the toy bin they provide for kids inside, while we were mainly gathered outside. Like any toddler, he made a mess, but I was mindful of it and cleaned up after him when asked. About 15-20 minutes later, I noticed the entire toy bin had been removed. When I asked the staff member (manager?) why, her response was curt and dismissive--essentially saying she was tired of cleaning up after kids. She even said she "had kids too," but the tone felt more like scolding than understanding. I explained that we come to places like this because they advertise themselves as family-friendly. Instead of hospitality, we were made to feel like a burden, as though children weren't actually welcome. The worst part was overhearing her continue to talk about us to others while we were still there. That crossed the line from unprofessional to just plain rude. We ended up leaving and taking our business elsewhere. For parents constantly searching for places to enjoy a beer while their kids have space to play, I can confidently say Heater Allen is not it. If you don't want children there, don't advertise as kid-friendly--it's misleading and creates an experience that feels hostile for families.

We were meeting friends in 45 minutes, so this was the perfect stop. Destiny was our server, and she is the type server that you wish would be all restaurants. She has been at this site, the baby of the company, for 8 1/2 years, and it is evident. She knows the concept, the menu and made our experience one that I want to come back for the dinner menu. The nice person behind the counter did not know what Dom Perignon or Bollinger's champagne was and tried to steer me to Don Pedro wine or something like that. Not sure what she was offering but it wasn't what I needed. My main problem with the store isn't the champagne issue, it's disregarding peoples questions. Why have the form if you won't use it ? I won't be bothering these folks again. No great loss for them as we're not big drinkers but I was hoping for so much more from another liquor store in Mac.
