a glass of beer on a coaster

Nice little taproom with a good variety of local beers on tap and some cans and bottles to supplement. Bartender gave us a few samples and we settled on our beer. Would have loved to give the place 5 stars, but it was so hot and humid in there we had to leave after just one beer. The temperature outside was quite chilly, so not sure what was going on.

Good stop. It's a tap house type place, lots of different beers from around the area on tap. It's a good stop to try a variety of local beers. Lots of locals hang out here. Overall, not a bad stop, would recommend it if you're in the area.

This is a picture of David working the taps. He doesn't know I'm capturing this moment in Yelp history.

This place is great! It's right in the heart of McMinnville's downtown scene. Surprisingly underrated. The space is small but the atmosphere is great! The owner really cares about beer and provides the best hospitality I've seen in the area. If you have one day to spend in McMinnville- Hell, if you one day left to spend living, you should stop by The Bitter Monk and enjoy a pint or three like you never have before. -a happy customer

Looking at the menu board. Lots of choices and you can even see how much is left in the keg!

The only thing bitter about The Bitter Monk is the beer (well at least the beer I like). The place is on the small side, but the beer selection is huge! There were about 16 beers on tap shown clearly on an electronic menu that tells you more about the beers than pretty much any other bar including how much is left in the keg! Never before have I been able to prioritize my beer based on how much is left :). There are beers to suite any tastes and is easy to see which ones are which by glancing at the menu. The menu automatically updated and was even tied in to social media displaying a sampling of what people were saying about the place on Facebook, Twitter, etc. I even saw my picture on the menu after checking in with my beer on Untapped. How cool is that?! The staff was also very friendly. We planned to stop in for just one and stayed for a few hours talking to the locals and enjoying some fine beer. I highly recommend this place to beer lovers everywhere especially if you need a break from the wine tastings in the area!

The Bitter Monk is the best place in the valley for craft beer. Period. The beer list is carefully crafted by the owner who strives to bring in interesting and approachable craft beers and has enough variety to please every beer drinker, even those who don't think they like beer. In addition to the 14 beers on tap there are over 100 bottles to choose from that you can either enjoy there or take home. And for those who are sure they don't like beer there are always two ciders on tap and red and white wine from local wineries. Don't be intimidated by all the choices though, the super helpful and friendly staff is well versed and educated in craft beer and always offer to help find just the right beer for you. The atmosphere is just the right balance of cozy and boisterous neighbor pub and you can tell a lot of thought and effort has gone into the design. In the summer the outdoor picnic tables are a great place to bring your dog and sit out and enjoy a drink while soaking in 3rd street. The Bitter Monk is so dog friendly that they put out water bowls for you pup and even have treats behind the bar that you can take out to fido, but because they serve food furry friends have to stay outside. The Bitter Monk is a true gem and a great place to catch up with friends or even sit alone and enjoy a book. When you're surrounded by this much outstanding beer, great people and beautiful setting, it is pretty hard to have a terrible time.

Best beer in town, best bartenders--and now happy hour is all afternoon! Best place for a pint on McMinnville, bar none.

We got here a bit early on the weekday at 2:50p. They open at three so we waited until they opened. They had some great lunch specials. I had the turkey club with a salad. It was good. I'd never seen tomatoes on a club before but it was good. They had a variety of drinks but we stuck to tea and soda as it was a work day. This looks like a great place for cocktails. Now that I got the bad taste in my mouth from former friends I will definitely be back.

Even when I tried to pay the second round, she told the bartender not to accept my payment. haha Even if I had paid, I would still like this place and their cocktails. It is a nice atmosphere, not too loud, comfortable seating, warm whimsical decorations, friendly service, and clean bathrooms. They have a large list of cocktails, mocktails and other non-alcoholic beverages, as well as beer and wine. They can make all the traditional cocktails. A regular told me the manhattan is top notch, but the cherries aren't the best he's seen. Cherry seemed alright to me. They also have several house cocktails and a few specials to choose from. Between us 4, we tried several different cocktails. We even tried the house cocktail designed for the bitterest of liqueurs, Jeppson's Malört. All were deemed tasty by all! They offer several food items from a full kitchen, including appetizers, sandwiches, salads, breakfast, and dinner. They even have veggie burger, gluten free crackers, and gluten free (GF) fried chicken! ! ! Free parking on the street. No minors allowed, bummer...l'd like it better if kids were allowed, but it's so good it's gets the 5th star. If you choose to give a thumbs-up or not, I hope you found my review helpful!

Pool tables and video poker and lots of tables and an outside area. The bartender was very friendly, quiet at first but anyone who has been following us for awhile knows my bf knows how to talk and he talks to anyone and gets them going. I took pictures of what we had, both were decent. The tacos a little greasy but then again, that is not the restaurants fault, most certain it's just the product, I have had those at home before and still very greasy. BF had the corned beef sand (cold) on sourdough, and nothing was left, so I guess it was good? Overall an interesting place with an interesting view. Will be back soon we hope!

Nasty woman wanted to argue with us about it. Figured we'd get kicked out. Won't be doing anymore business with this place they obviously don't want the business. Hope she liked the $5.00 dollar tip on $65.00 bill. Look at the rest of the reviews on this place. Lot's of one Star reviews mostly about the owner but the skinny bartender is no better.

I came upon Cypress and although the menu seemed limited at first, their options were all intriguing. We set a reservation for 5:30 on a Saturday. When we walked in there was only one older gentleman in the whole place so we were greeted promptly and sat immediately. I was wondering that since no one was there, that I perhaps made a mistake. That was NOT the case. Plants lined the ceiling and the bar and made the space beautiful and inviting. Very nice ambiance! We started with a special appitizer, Halloumi cheese and sweet potatoes. Oh man, absolutely incredible flavor and texture. That season and sauce on these were spectacular. If they are offer this, get it! We then had their seasonal salad which also was fantastic! Light and flavorful and we ate every bite. She got the salmon and I got the short rib and a side of brussel sprouts to share. All were incredible. The flavor experience here is off the charts. We kept saying how amazing the meal was all throughout the evening. I had 2 old fashions and my beauty had 2 paper planes. Both cocktails were far above average. They were excellent! You can't have a great overall experience without a fantastic server. Harmony was amazing! She checked in on us regularly ensuring everything was good and filling our waters. By this time the place was filling up with guests but we still had the same level of service. Thank you, Harmony. The pricing is what you would expect for an amazing meal. It was just over $200 including top for 4 drinks, 2 entrees, 1 appetizer, 1 salad, 1 side. It was so worth it! This was an incredible meal that my wife and I really enjoyed! Thank you, Harmony and thank you Cypress. Don't you go anywhere. We will be back next time we are down this way.
