Horrible service and ok food. Had some food played some video poker. Had twenty dollars on a machine and tipped the chair and had a smoke maybe ten minutes. Come in chairs back money's gone. Lady we know next to us says bartender took your money. Asked bartender where's my twenty dollars. Says I took it out you were gone a long time. Ten minutes is not a long time. Nasty woman wanted to argue with us about it. Figured we'd get kicked out. Won't be doing anymore business with this place they obviously don't want the business. So I'm just gonna say it flat out I went in there to gamble and that bartender lady is for sure intoxicated cause she was super disrespectful in front of everybody told me to leave. I started walking out and she started following me calling me names by the way, I'm super flattered didn't bother me. None I turned around and said a couple things back to her a little fire under her ass, I was a little entertained by it. But I would not recommend this place to anyone specially if you're a dude and you're gonna bring your wife in there and you don't like people talking a certain way to your wife this lady's straight up C word. Start with the surly and rude short stocky Asian lady at the bar. I walked out today due to her attitude and demeanor and am never going back. This is not the first time I've encountered this wretched behavior from her. Teach her some manners and grace! She's slow to wait on the customer and only seems to do it begrudgingly. Damn. I was hoping to visit here on a regular basis. I just can't see putting money on the bar, always with a good tip by the way, just to be treated so poorly. I don't know why Jae's gets such a bad rap. My family eats dinner at Jae's at least once a week. The owner and staff are always very friendly. We have never had bad service. The ambiance is sports bar/ video poker lounge. The crowd seems calm. We like to sit at a table near the bar so we don't have to be distracted by the video poker machines. The menu has a lot of choices we love the Ruben and the chili dog. Both are excellent and consistently delicious. The cocktails are excellent and affordable too. read more

Always consistent food. I really like this place. It's super chill and it has great food. It takes awhile for the staff to warm up to you but that's okay since it is a bar. Best chili dog in McMinnville by far can be had at this place. Also try the Rueben if you like Rueben's. This place has a sports bar vibe and the ambiance is like a neighborhood bar. This is a nice bar, large, several lotto machines, several pool tables, darts, beautiful scenery out the back side. THE BAR TENDER IS THE PROBLEM. She has such attitude. From the moment we ordered she was full of attitude. She didn't like the fact that I was looking at her cameras which are in the open. when we ordered our 2nd round of drinks and asked if she could remake one of the drink for us cause it was not right she had SO MUCH attitude and refused to remake it or make something else. I visited Jae's for the first time tonight to play pool and I had one whisky, one beer, followed by one plain Pepsi. The owner of this establishment was unreasonably rude. At first she came off as not very friendly, fine, we all have off days, but she progressed into downright hostile. Everything had been fine as far as I had been concerned, my friend and I had been playing pool, though after visiting the bar, he complained that the owner had smelled weed, assumed it was him, and was treating him poorly. My friend is a distinguished engineer at a large corporation, is extremely intelligent, is a trusted colleague, and most certainly was not smoking weed while we were at Jae's playing pool. We continued on with our night, I finished my Pepsi, and I went to collect the motorcycle helmet that I had stowed behind the bar. Without a word, the owner pulled out a box with my helmet sitting on top, dropped my gloves on the floor, looked me in the eye, pointed down, then walked away. I mentioned to her that I hadn't seen her smile since I came in, the only words I had spoken to her the entire evening mind you, and she absolutely flipped. "Because I'm a woman, because I'm Asian, why don't YOU smile? You stupid, you racist, get out, I'm calling the cops. You so stupid, you so stupid, get out NOW!" There were then a couple young regulars? that proceeded to surround me, I guess to protect her?? They were trying to force me to leave while I was putting on my jacket. "Put your gear on outside! Get out of here!" I was utterly bewildered. I tried to remain calm as I suited up, I told her I would never be back, and I left. This was my first visit to McMinnville, on invite of a friend that lives in the community, and this experience left a terrible impression. Hi, Me, my wife, friends and family come to Jae's all the time and we have always been treated well & the food is fantastic! It's slower earlier in the day and gets busy later on if it matters to you. Just like any bar you see all walks of life. Really don't understand some of the comments I've read. Service was not great. Asked about specialty house drinks and bartender looked at me funny. She been there for many years, an she claimed doesn't know any specialty shots. So just ordered something on Tap. Went to play pool and accidentally hit the ball at the bottom to which made it bounce up and off the table by mistake. This is when owner happened to walk by and said you break window you buy. Window thin for people like you. I apologize to her said it was an accident and she just walked away. I don't recommend this bar to anyone. There's more bars in mcminnvile with much better customer service. This was final time I go to Jays. They ruined the second chance for me to go. This place is a neighborhood bar. It's huge, slot machines, pool tables, food, full bar. Outdoor patio. Plus a view of the creek, on occasion you can see the deer pass thru. Unfortunately, you don't feel welcome here. The barmaid is not friendly nor engaging. It has so much potential. I wish someone would buy it & turn it into something amazing. The Asian lady behind the bar is horribly rude. She refused to serve us but could not tell me why.I know I wasn't drunk because I just got there. She got real defensive when I asked if it was because I'm brown / Mexican and proceeded to raise her voice and threatened to call the police. I was just trying to find out what I did that was so bad. I never raised my voice or stood up from the bar stool. I am a grown adult and I carry myself as so. I love McMinnville and the people here. I did not get to try any drinks or food so i can't comment on that. I'm not from mcminneville and haven't been to Jae's before. I got off work on saturday evening and stopped in at about 5pm, my first thought was it seemed weird that a bar this size was empty on a saturday evening. When i asked for a drink the bartender took one look at me and told me i had to leave immediately. She was extremely hostile, gave me no explanation for her behavior. In my surprise i must not have moved fast enough and she actually chased me around the corner to the door yelling at me to "Go! Go right now!" I have no idea what was going on with her until i read these other reviews and I'm starting to get the picture. Can someone please take this building under new management, it would be a nice spot. I am still shocked that any place open for business would treat people this way. For context i wasn't wearing shabby or offensive clothes or doing anything wrong, i just came from work at a professional job. Went to play some pool with some friends and the server argued with us when we told her we were just playing pool and weren't planning on buying any food or drinks. Then they turned the music up so loud that we couldn't hear two feet from each other. I was recently in Jae's for the first time ever. The owner was completely rude from the moment my friends and I walked into the bar. She allowed my friend to order a long island, and I casually said "may I please get the same as him" and was cut off before I even had 1 because according to the owner I "was drinking somewhere else", however that was the first bar I went to throughout the entire night and it was a Friday, and I was completely sober. The owner then proceeded to watch our group suspiciously for the all of 10 minutes that we were in there before we felt uncomfortable and left. You'd think a completely dead bar would want 5 people to order drinks on a Friday rather than be made to feel as though we were not welcome there. The owner should not own a bar if she gets angry at 5 people on a Friday for simply walking into the bar. She clearly has anger issues and should not own a business let alone a bar. This place is huge! Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon on the way home back to PDX, was very quiet, but I could see it getting a lot of business over the weekend. Pool tables and video poker and lots of tables and an outside area. The bartender was very friendly, quiet at first but anyone who has been following us for awhile knows my bf knows how to talk and he talks to anyone and gets them going. I took pictures of what we had, both were decent. The tacos a little greasy but then again, that is not the restaurants fault, most certain it's just the product, I have had those at home before and still very greasy. BF had the corned beef sand (cold) on sourdough, and nothing was left, so I guess it was good? Overall an interesting place with an interesting view. Will be back soon we hope! read more

So extremely rude. We came for my friends birthday planning on just playing pool and enjoying our time. We called ahead asking if they were open/how long and got a very curt and short response like we were stupid for calling ahead-- many places have the wrong information online. Anyway... we walk in, seeing open pool tables and getting excited to spend time with friends shooting pool and focusing on our friend. We came to the counter and a woman looked disappointed as we entered. I understand that maybe she had other things to do but asking for service seemed pretty reasonable. My friend asked if there was another bar as it is a large space and I stated that this was probably the only one. The woman expectantly asked for our identification and sighed as well as reached for our identification. I simply asked her if she was upset that we had arrived and she said "what? Do you expect me to dance upon your arrival?!" I said no... and she shot back with that she would not serve us and we could find another place to enter. I was shocked. I had never been treated this way in my entire life and wanted to make McMinnville a home for me. I will never recommend this place to my friends who visit or new people who move here. They need new management and people who know how to be simply respectful to their customers. I would NEVER recommend going here and will sufficiently spend my time in my professional career telling people my experience and recommending ANY ANY ANY OTHER place to go. read more

I was kicked out for having my certified service animal with me which is not only super illegal to do but she literally turned the music off in the bar and then proceeded to walk straight up to me and my husband and told us to get the f*** out of her bar or she was going to call the police. We did absolutely nothing to warrant this we ordered our drinks and started to play a game of pool and kept to ourselves we were completely sober and not causing any type of issues or ruckus to cause such a uproar of anger and discrimination from this horrible woman. The bartender was rude and did not ask if we were separate WHICH WE WERE , and he refused to do two types of whiskey in two SEPARATE old fashioneds. $9.50 per drink for two improperly made drinks. Seltzer does not go in an old fashioned, if you don't know what's in it then you need to say that. Not make it wrong and be rude about it. This could be a really awesome place to hang out, it has all the potential! Leather couches, tons of seating, a huge bar, pool tables, jukebox, tons of space to move around, huge covered smoking area with tables, etc. So many wonderful things about this place! However, I can't help but feel that the owner is the reason a lot of people don't return...she gives off a really cold, unwelcoming vibe. I mean, it's a bar for goodness sake! Went here for the first time. Lady bar tender I'm assuming is the owner was so very rude from the time I walked in the door. She told us we had to ask permission to sit down play machines and when my son proceeded to stand up practicing social distancing of course he was asked to sit or leave. He then told her she should probably watch her tone when she speaks to customers she lost her shit and not only kicked him out but me and my husband who truly said nothing . When I was cashing in my ticket she proceeded to talk badly about my son I simply said he is a grown man if you have a problem with him you have to take that up with him I am a paying customer who has done nothing wrong she then proceeded to scream at me and told me to get out. I have a feeling if you're not a regular at this place you probably shouldn't bother going.a couple that was sitting there witnessing it actually told me it took them for years before she started treating them nicely.
