If I could give negative stars I would but I can't. Went here on a little casual double date immediately it smelt terrible. We are at the pool table near trash cans and it smelt like we were at a bottle drop and there were flies coming out of the trash. I thought I was being over dramatic because I am pregnant but my friend said that it stunk as well. Then I went to use the ladies room and it was horrific the women's restroom needs a few bottles of bleach and a pressure washer lol even my non pregnant friend refused to be in the restroom let alone use it. It was greatly priced but but not worth it being somewhere so unsanitary. The owner was kind of a smart aleck. Kinda seems like he needs some help maintaining the place or it needs to be sold to someone who has the energy to run it. Sucks that it's one of the only pool halls around here that lets minors in as my friends haven't all turned 21 yet. read more

Cue Ball is the BEST pool hall in town. First off this is a pool hall not a bar. No smoking or drinking. All ages are welcome. Cue Ball has been around in Salem for 60 years. It's looks shady from the outside but it's nice and safe. You are charged by the hour and the amount of players. I think it's $3 for two people per hour, not bad. All the tables are in good shape. The sticks are another thing; they are drop and played hard with. If you want a perfect stick buy one or bring your own. They have a pro shop on sit too. Just place to hang out with friend and play pool. Cue Ball has a great reputation in Salem. The staffs are friendly and very helpful. read more

Jim runs an outstanding pool hall. I love the non-smoking environment and don't mind they don't sell beer. I come to play, not to drink. The tables are always in great shape and sometimes I like to try my hand at the 3-cushion billiard game. That's a tough one to master. The decor of statues and pictures are unique and interesting. Years ago, this spot looked like a shady area in a part of downtown that was near bars, a nearby bus station, suspect biz, and full of what seemed to be bikers. Fast forward a decade or two, the non-smoking establishment looks cleaned up as do the neighboring businesses. They now pride themselves on being the premier destination for all things pool-related and seem family friendly. I've noticed a major influx of nearby Willamette students and young folks citing this spot as a relaxing time to shoot pool and the place looks as classic as ever. Prices are good here and there are plenty of tables. Since there no smoking, it makes a world of difference giving patrons an opportunity to smell like crap. The spacious gap between tables could be wider, at least to where there isn't an occasional poke from the near table, which is a normal thing in most pool halls anyway. In the next room over, there are some tables for sale as well and most that I've seen are in very good condition. read more

My husband and I went here a few weeks ago for a quick day date. Prices are reasonable and it appears to be a great place for older men to hang out, play pool, and talk. Cons (for me): No alcohol, No smoking (great! but it STINKS of smoke), Most of the vending machines didn't work, I think there are 5, and the one that did work looked like the food had been there for years. Nothing to drink, or at least we couldn't find anything. Out of date/dirty decorations. Pros: Tons of tables Super affordable It's not a place I'd go back to but I'm also not a big pool player. This place could really be happening and make a ton of money if they offered more food and drink options, updated their decor (or at least cleaned it), and did something with the smell. read more

Service is a little slow, and unfriendly. But you don't go there for the service! The tables and cues are aging, but its the best deal in town for pool. Lots of tables, almost always at least one open. Other patrons usually pretty polite and understanding when you need to take a shot or walk by, as long as you are to them. Jukebox is a nice addition to the back room, though people can make some rather awful choices, but that's everyone's taste. When I wanna play, this is where I go. read more

They have decent tables, and lots of equipment for sale, but it is one of the most unwelcoming environments I've been in. From the parking lot to inside the pool hall it's one entitled jerk after another. The guys behind the counter are nice if you're a middle aged white man other than that good luck feeling welcomed, or like they enjoy getting your business. read more

I love practicing my game here. Plenty of GOOD QUALITY practice tables. A huge array of cues to select from if you want to purchase, and the best thing is a separate room for kids that want to goof off in the jukebox room, or a room for the more serious player. I have routinely been given discounts at the time of purchase for pool time as well. Very nice and friendly staff, very laid back environment. Bathrooms need a little work however. My family and I come here once and awhile to play -- and its usually not too busy. They have two larger rooms to play in. Its very inexpensive, so its very family friendly. Staff is usually friendly. If you're eating next door at Sassy Onion, stop by and play a bit afterwards...it's fun! read more

Con: -parking, it is street and diagonal, and traffic is one way, so be careful backing out! - this place is really shady looking. I used to come here in high school. The owner always cracked me up, and he is the one that actually taught me how to play pool. I remember one time I thought I was doing really good..good enough to try out for a competition..when I walked up to the front to sign up, he told me "no...you're not that good" which hit me hard at first...but he then said "you will see why, watch them"..and I saw these what looked like professionals playing pool and immediately thought "THANK GOODNESS I did not sign up!"...come to find out, they were just intermediate pool players, he just smiled at me after I watched for two minutes..I quietly said "thank you". I have a lot of fond memories at this place, even though sometimes there were some sketchy people that came here, I always felt safe because of the people who worked there, they always watched out for me. It's very inexpensive for sure. I could play there for HOURS and hardly spend anything. Now a days, for a 10$ drink you could spend like five hours playing pool. Best pool hall in Oregon, not just Salem. I cheerfully drive 45 minutes to come here. Big tables, well maintained. Pro shop. Large selection of cues, cases, accessories, and tables for sale. Owner and staff that play and understand the game. Many regular players that know which end of the cue to grip and which end to chalk. Snooker and billiards also. Table time so cheap that it feels like stealing! Rooms like this are rare and disappearing nationwide. Support this one! read more
