One of our favorite date-night spots! When we first moved to Salem, Coin Jam quickly became our go-to date-night spot. They had Area 51, which was my game, so I was pretty bummed when they eventually removed it. I was also a little sad when they switched from coins to game cards. There's just something so nostalgic about putting a quarter into an arcade machine especially for us '90s kids! That said, we still go to Coin Jam pretty frequently and always have a great time. Everyone is friendly, the atmosphere has a really cool vibe, and I love that if you don't use all the money on your game card, you can save it and come back another time. Even without Area 51 and the quarters, it's still a fun place for a date night and definitely somewhere we'll keep coming back to! read more

The ambiance is fun, friendly, and good vibes. The coin jam had a great mix of music and lots of beverage and food options. My husband and I solely came for the games. The coin machines were in a room and honestly, there was not a lot of space. I was constantly being bumped into while trying to play a game. There are a mix of older arcade and newer games. I thought 50 cents for the old school games was a little much but can understand businesses need to make money. There's an ATM where you can withdraw money and there is also a machine where you can exchange cash for quarters. Overall, I would definitely come back here but think that if groups of 10+ are coming, then reservations should be made in order for it to not be so crowded. read more

I have never had anything but a stellar experience at Coin Jam in Salem. Amazing customer service, delicious food (try the fries!), refreshing beverages, and most importantly, plenty of methods to dispose of those shiny quarters in your pocket, couch, vehicle, or wherever they are. All of the games are kept in excellent condition. I love the original games that are brought back to former glory (Tron!). I love the retro "vibe". A group of 4 of us came here to celebrate a birthday. We hadn't been before, and had a GREAT time. We were there for about 2 hours - played tons of games, got a few drinks, and really enjoyed ourselves. Lots of variety of games with something for everyone. read more

I didn't eat or drink but what I did do is drop some $ on some great retro stand up arcade games like Street Fighter, Joust, Track and Field and Pong. Easy layout, machines on an arcade card, so no coins. It was fun. read more

Came here with a group of people. The place could use a deep cleaning. They have lots of TV's but can't turn on a sports game which was odd. The food was super slow to arrive and the portions were small. And pretty expensive. The staff were nice. Not sure I would be super excited to go back. read more

Visiting from out of state, I'm so glad I found this place and had a chance to play some phenomenal and hard to find games all the while giving cheers with a great local selection of draft ciders and beers. The best food, amazing tacos! I had the pork belly tacos (chef's kiss!). Gorgeous presentation, excellent service. They had plenty of staff available to help on a busy night and service was quick and friendly. The only sad piece of the near perfect puzzle was the Simpsons game stalled out on me at the cloud level and lost all my progress. Otherwise super fun place. Brought my 3 sons here for a birthday celebration. We had a great time. The burgers are a generous size, fresh ingredients, nice grade of meat and juicy with great flavor. I had the loaded fries special. A huge plate of delicious fries full of delicious toppings. We shared them along with the cheesy bacon fries upgrades that my sons had with their burgers. Great service, great food, great arcade. The prices on food are fair enough, but the beer runs quite expensive for an arcade. I suppose it saves you money overall, but I'd still rather play (and pay) longer for a few more drinks than have to cut the evening short because I can only justify the cost of drinking *or* breaking another bill into quarters. Happy hour prices are the goldilocks zone: cheap beer is cheap enough that you can enjoy a few with a longer gaming session -- but Coin Jam is begging for an all-day happy hour. Any of the french fry based dishes are a slam dunk -- the tacos are good but a rather small portion for the price. Tap and bottle rotation is good too, if you like sampling new things. Great variety in cabinets, with a few interesting pinball machines plus a well-maintained air hockey table. read more

So good! I love when they get pub food right! Oh man- great portions, amazing flavors, spot on atmosphere! This is the high expectation I have for a bar. It isn't just about the drinks though their selection of ciders, beers and other alcoholic beverages was thorough and great as well! We had the pineapple cider and baked apple cider! Awesome selection of beers, amazing array of arcade games including quite a bit of pinball, almost all are the newest games. Would be great spot for a pinball league (if they don't already have one there). Decor is really fun and staff are so friendly. Now, I don't know if it was named after a mishap with a stubborn slot machine or a fruity spread that went bad, but I'm telling you, this is THE place for all things retro, edible and borderline magnetic in their charm. My first step into Coin Jam felt like stepping into an alternate universe, where the 80s Atari kingdom shook hands with the 21st century culinary mastery. Glowing machines lining the walls? Check. Bar stools occupied by friendly, almost weirdly attractive staff? Double check. The scent of perfectly grilled patties merging with the nostalgic smell of joystick rubber? Triple check. So, I sauntered my way in, past rows of pixel-generating antiques and stopped by the Donkey Kong game. Why Donkey Kong? Call it fate, but it was the same game I saw this enchanting lady playing, one that eventually became my girlfriend. The story? A tale as old as time - Boy meets girl, girl's a pro at Donkey Kong, boy gives his Kong to her later that night. No, I am not kidding. This place is THAT magical. And my Kong got it done. The food here is a delightful paradox, achieving the Herculean task of matching up to the arcade madness surrounding it. You'd expect the burgers to be mere sidekicks to the games, but they pack a punch harder than a Mario uppercut, with fries as crispy as an 8-bit soundtrack. And, oh, the drinks! They're like health potions straight out of Zelda, but for your liver. But, the real stars? The staff. Now, I have dined in places, people, but the Coin Jam crew is different. They're more than just attractive; they're like a bunch of characters straight out of a stylish anime - dazzling, mystifying, and possessing the uncanny ability to make you question your loyalty to your own partner. Trust me, once you set foot in Coin Jam, you'll start to daydream about these folks, as if being haunted by a Pac-Man ghost, except these are way prettier. In summary, Coin Jam is what would happen if the Matrix had a love child with Gordon Ramsay. It's like if Willy Wonka traded his chocolate factory for an arcade, and the Oompa Loompas were runway models serving up mouth-watering eats. It's an adult playground that would make even Peter Pan want to grow up. Coin Jam, you mad, beautiful beast of a place, you make no sense, and yet, you make all the sense in the world. As a nerd, or geek, this is a blast from the past of arcade games with your modern favorite ciders and beers on tap. The seating is in the front with the games hiding in the back in the milieu of darkness. Bring you coins to keep the games going, but they can make change with a machine. There is a bouncer but you can come and go as you need. I didn't see any food while there, but they have a kitchen available. It tends to get crowded fast especially on weekends and limited seating so make friends fast. Especially when multiple birthdays happen on the same weekend. Definitely a fun time. read more

Used to be a great place to play pinball, but they stopped maintaining their machines and half of them are not working properly so they aren't fun to play. Most of the arcade games are pretty good, their food is outstanding and their employees are top notch, but they miss the mark for pinball badly. You guys, I don't know if I have the words to express just how happy this little joint made me. On a drizzly day, I took my sweetheart here on a whim. As we both grew up in-and-out of mall arcades in the 90s, it seemed like an appropriate choice. I admit, I was apprehensive. I figured we'd enjoy some basic, fried classics--food you'd maybe find at a bowling alley--and blow a few quarters on a few ill-maintained stand-ups. Boy, was I proven wrong. Hard. The interior is industrial coolness. Our server was quick with recommendations and explanations. The [swear word] food was [swear word] amazing! The games spanned classics from several decades and were obviously lovingly maintained and in cherry condition. As much as I loved the ambiance and could go on and on about my favorite games (I walked up to the three-wheeled majesty that is Off-Road like I was greeting an old friend), the best surprise of all was the delicious food! Move aside, Mortal Kombat, the food here slays! We shared two appetizers; 1. Jerk Chicken Tacos - spicy, savory, electric with a cool kiss of mango salsa. That perfect level of heat that keeps you craving one more bite! 2. Cheesy Fries - half order that came on tortilla chips and OH MY that cheeeese! The pork was tender and juicy, the heat was addictive--BUT THAT CHEESE! Fatality, kids, cuz I'm finished! Go, have a beer, have some food (please!), and bring some cash for the quarter machine! Cabinet games ranging from the 80's up to now just begging for your quarters. They serve pretty good food and have many drinks on tap to choose from as well as bottles/cans. The ambience is nostalgic and fun, featuring posters and art from yesteryear. They have a couple of playing movies and or commercials from the 80's and 90's as well.
