One of my favorite stops in Silverton! Anytime I'm out this way, I love stopping at Mac's Place for a bite. They have some seriously delicious sandwiches, and I've tried a variety of them, but my go-to is always the Reuben. It never disappoints! The staff is always super friendly, which makes the experience even better. And they have a really nice patio right next to the river, making it such a great spot to sit, eat, and enjoy the scenery. Partner and I came to town for an anniversary trip and Mac's was one of the few places open late enough for us when we got to town after 8pm. Vibes were good, bartender/server was friendly. Reviews made it seem divey but lights weren't turned down low enough for to meet that criteria imo. A bit too cold/wet for us to eat/drink outside but sounds like that might be the place to be on a nicer nite. Menu was pretty extensive for the bar, maybe a bit pricey for what you get -- but the $2 draft beers on Thursday nites was a good deal that made up for that pretty well. I thought my turkey reuben was great; husband liked his steak wrap too (as seen in other reviews' photos comes out on a plate completely unadorned) and ate a bunch of my cajun fries. There is a reason Mac is in the name. This place KNOWS how to do mac and cheese. This cheese pull wasn't even the craziest. I got the plain, but they also have buffalo chicken, chicken and a BBQ one. I wanted to try a new spot with the teen so we headed into Silverton and choose Mac's place. We were asked if we were both over 21 before being directed to the side of the restaurant away from the bar. Both areas had bar height tables, but we chose to sit at a dining table. It was chilly outside and there was a draft coming from people using the door behind us marked 'Please Use Other Door'. They have a pool table and a few video games and a pinball machine as well as a small stage for live music. The vibe is vintage country with photos of small unknown acts and photos of the region prior to its development. The menu was a flurry of American fare; sandwiches / wraps, burgers, nachos, salads, mac 'n cheese and pizza all done multiple ways. They also offer gluten free, vegan and kids options. If someone in your party can't find something they like, well, I guess they should pack their own. I'd been missing the pork nachos at my favorite Mexican restaurant back home and my mini was craving a salad and her favorite; mac 'n cheese. We compromised and got an order of chips & salsa, a Santa Fe salad + pulled pork, and a side of regular mac. While the pork was a bit sparse, it was cooked well and the salad was large enough to share. It came with avo, grilled corn and tortilla chips (I added black olives). I asked for another plate so we could split everything. The mac and cheese was good, more buttery than creamy. We enjoyed our visit and filled a couple of eco-friendly take out containers. In town for the week and got back late from a hiking trip. Mac's place was the only food joint still open so we grabbed a bite. It's a dark sorta dive bar vibe when you go in. The staff were very friendly and efficient. The full bar was nice and the drinks and beers were priced well. However the food.... Not great. The pizza definitely looks like a frozen Totino's pizza. The fried avocado was pretty decent but also reminiscent of a take home and bake appetizer from the freezer section. I would definitely come back for a drink and a game of pool. But have dinner elsewhere first. read more

When my aunt comes to visit us here in Oregon, we go to Silverton to visit friends and eat at Mac's Place. The first time we ate there we loved the crispy fries. Every year we came back the fries were always crispy.....until this year. We had a chance to eat there twice in a week. My aunt had the BBQ pulled pork sandwich and her fries were not crispy. I had the Philly cheese steak and my fries were not crunchy. We ate there today and the experience was not good. My aunt ordered chicken strips and fries. This time she asked for her fries to be crispy, they were not. I ordered the fish tacos and I liked them but I got sick on the way home. It's sad when McDonald's fries are crispier. We won't come back to Mac's Place anymore. read more

Of the all the bars we visited in Silverton (and I think we went to almost all of them in this little town), Mac's Place had the most decent food options. Plus they have an awesome back patio overlooking the river, which was really nice. It's a good, affordable local dive bar and it does the job well. Our server was also super nice and friendly, despite it being very busy. Kudos to her for great service and having a sense of humor. This a good spot for people watching. For food I had the Turkey Reuben and fries, which came with a delicious spicy raspberry ketchup. My friends pizza was quite good too - she did pesto and shrimp. Our drinks were good - we had a couple draft beers and some Irish coffees. I'd definitely come back when visiting again. read more

we hiked south silver falls yesterday morning and came here for lunch afterwards...we sat out on the patio, and it was cold, but the outdoor heater was perfect....the view of the silver river is gorgeous...we each had a heineken to start....next, i had the impossible veggie burger, and my partner had the avocado fries, then the mac's grilled cod tacos....the drinks/food were superb.....the staff was so nice and charming, she was great....thx so much.... read more

This place gets high marks for their amazing patio! Beautiful wood patio with tables right along the creek so you can sit and enjoy a drink, some food, good conversation and an amazing view. Plus there are heaters at each table so why would anyone want to sit inside? We had a great server who willingly engaged in conversation when we asked SSOOO many questions about the area. We only had beer, a shot and some garlic cheese bread so I can't really rate the food (psst...psst...order the garlic cheese bread - it's SO GOOD!) In the back of the bar are five gaming machines (slot machines) set in a little private area. Did we walk out winners? Nope. Did we walk out richer for our experience at Mac's Place? Stopped in here for a late lunch on a Saturday and it was packed. Found a table on the back patio which had a lovely view of the creek below. Problem was too many people and not enough servers. What a great gem in Silverton. Casual, over 21 bar and restaurant. Plenty of indoor seating, along with outside, deck seating. Full bar. Well staffed and fun and friendly employees. Nice menu with lots of options, including gluten free choices. We shared the Brisket Nachos and it was absolutely delicious and very generous. Prices good for quality and options. Food / atmosphere was nice. HOWEVER, here's the rub. In a nutshell, apparently the management / owner condone theft of customer items by staff We were in town for overnight visit for the festival of lights. We had a nice dinner and went to hotel. Realized that our 18 year old son had left his BRAND NEW $125 jacket there (he JUST bought it with his first paycheck from his new job). We called immediately and spoke with a fellow at Mac's. He found the jacket and promised to set it aside for us to collect in the morning - great! When we went in, no one could find the jacket and the fellow couldn't be reached. They told us to check in by phone later.... After a MONTH of calls, emails to management and messaging via Facebook, we have received a grand total of SQUAT. Absolutely zero response. As a thirty year veteran of owning a small business, I find this response APPALLING. Unbelievable lack of care / communication over what essentially is THEFT. They HAD it, then it disappeared on their watch and my son gets the shaft. So sad. read more

Had lunch here n 9/7/23. Ordered a burger & house fries thinking it wouldn't be anything special. WRONG! Great burger, and the house fries were awesome! The icing on the cake was that they served it with their own Marionberry, Habanero infused ketchup. Wow! The berry and pepper flavors in the ketchup were very subtle, and blended in beautifully. Came to Mac's for dinner because of the positive reviews but my experience was far from positive. First, it was shivering cold inside on a chilly, rainy night made worse every time the door opened. So the atmosphere gets a failing mark. Service was initially adequate but much of my French Dip Beef sandwich -- about half -- was literally inedible (and it was pretty skimpy for $13 to begin with). I called this to the attention of an employee making the rounds and even showed her the pile of inedible meat I pulled from the sandwich. She was going to follow up on it, so she said, but instead our original server came out with the check. I was looking forward to a nice dinner but that didn't happen and the service was just as bad as the food. read more

On Monday night in June, it was the only restaurant open in Silverton at 10pm. I had a beer and a pizza. Both were excellent and the service was out of this world. It was quiet and the three of us had a good relaxed conversation. I'll highly recommend the place, especially for a late nite food. read more

Macs Place is a Silverton institution! It's a good mix of decent pub food, lively nightlife and colorful hometown bar. Their hamburgers and Mac and cheese are all great. They have a couple of pizzas we really like as well. Good selection of beers. It's not fancy, and it's not overly curated. It's hometown grown and good all the way around. Outdoor seating over Silver Creek is a summertime bonus as well. Parking can be a challenge but it's a small town so you never have to walk more than a block. read more

We dropped in for a quick bite of lunch while in Silverton. The place was interesting. It's a bar and the food is about what you would expect. It wasn't great and wasn't horrible. I had a French Dip sandwich and my guest had a taco. The staff was professional but not very friendly. I thought it was expensive for what you get. The total came to around $18 (sandwich, taco, no drinks). Next time in Silverton I think I'll find somewhere else to eat. Excellent service, only redeeming quality. The food has progressively gone downhill to the point where I'm afraid I might be poisoned. The owner cares more about a buck than, at minimum, a mildly satisfied customer. Will never eat here again. Will no longer give any patronage to any establishments owned by this man. High water grill is already nasty, and the wooden nickel locations have regressed to mere dumpsters as well. read more

Menu has changed so you can't get breakfast all day(which is what my husband wanted) waitress unavailable for extended periods of time. Prices so much higher. The BEST BAR snd Restaurant in Silverton, Oregon Bar none! MAC'S PLACE is out of of control amazing! Crazy good food. I had a German sausage with Marionberry Mustard I will never forget. Darlene had some killer pulled pork tacos that were mouth watering. The view of the creek is refreshing and looking at the photos on the wall tells you the history of this former brothel turned watering hole. The staff is unmatched! They were so accommodating to my family and I! Cannot recommend more. So much history you wish the walls could talk. Such great personality on your staff you wish you could come here every day!
