Darlene had some killer pulled pork tacos that were mouth watering. The view of the creek is refreshing and looking at the photos on the wall tells you the history of this former brothel turned watering hole. The staff is unmatched! They were so accommodating to my family and I! Cannot recommend more. So much history you wish the walls could talk. Such great personality on your staff you wish you could come here every day! One of my favorite places to have food whenever I visit my pop's in Mt. Angel. We usually stop in for Sunday night football and have a burgers and fries!!! Food was pretty good and fairly prompt. Service was a bit lacking/slow. We noticed one table getting the wrong food and ours was not made to order as directed (items we didn't want were still on the food, etc.). Really more of a bar than a restaurant. The patio might be nice but there were people smoking on it, with the smoke drifting into the establishment. Lots of wobbly tables/chairs give it some character. read more

My wife and I tried Mac's Place as we were looking to take a drive to Silverton, and they had outdoor dining. Upon entry, I was pleasantly surprised by the look of the bar. It had a wonderfully warm feeling, nice high tables, and overall felt very inviting. It also looks like they are setup to have live music. Unfortunately, Oregon was still preventing us from eating inside, so we had to eat outside. However, they have a great deck with a creek running right next to the it. Though this is certainly a comfortable place to eat outside, I do look forward to eating inside one day. We were greeted by a very friendly waitress before we headed outside. It was great not seeing a typical bar menu, with items like House Smoked BBQ Brisket, Shrimp Po' Boy, Fried Oysters, and Hand-Crafted Smoked German Sausage. Of course, they also have burgers and other typical bar items. Though their house smoked meets were recommended to us, we were both in the mood for some seafood. My wife ordered the Shrimp Po' Boy, and I went with the Fried Oyster plate. The Shrimp Po' Boy was served on a fresh roll, with coleslaw, and perfectly fried shrimp dipped in a house breading. Adding a little hot sauce really made this po' boy pop. The Fried Oysters were dipped in the same house breading and fried perfectly as well. These were served with perfectly cooked fries. We were both very delighted with our meals. This is certainly a place we'll be coming back to. Though it'll be hard not to order the Oysters again, I'll certainly have to try their house smoked meats. If you find yourself in Silverton, head over to Mac's Place. Made a quick trip to Silver Falls, on my way back decided to have lunch. The seating in the back was beautiful with following the social distancing. We were served 2 IPAS which were good ! Although we waited about 1hr to get our food that we ordered. A bit disappointed since the people across us received their food before us even though we arrived first. The burgers tasted amazing and were a good size portion . The Mac and crab is a must to order !!! read more

My husband and I stopped here on the way home from Silver Falls. Neat old bar, it says on the door they've been around since 1890. The bar itself is amazing, as is the mural behind the stage. On the advice of our server, Lindsey, I ordered the pulled pork po' boy and my husband had the sausage mac n cheese. My sandwich was amazing- the pork was tender and flavorful, the slaw just right. I like the fries - they are lightly battered. The mac and cheese was quite good as well, my husband finished it before I could get a bite. It has that neighborhood bar attitude and the staff was pleasant. It also offers live music occasionally. Cant express how amazing our food was here. When your eating at a pub, you are sometimes surprised, and these guys did surprise us ALOT. The special was over the top good. Walked in and we're immediately created and offered a choice of table outside over the river or inside. Being windy we stayed inside. We were given menus and water. The waitress got tied up at first so the bartender came over and got our drink order. Soon after the waitress returned and got our food order. Food and drinks arrived quickly. The Spanish Coffee was popular this cold night. My friend ordered halibut fish and chips. I ordered a cheese burger with a fried egg and fries. The fries and coated,crispy, and light. Some of the best fries I've ever had. They are served with their Marionberry jalapeno ketchup, regular ketchup was offered. The fish was excellent. My burger was fully cooked with no pink but still moist. The bun was not your average bun, didn't read on the menu what it was but you won't be disappointed. When the bill came the reciept had a online pay option using a QR code. This was handy and speeded up the checkout process. I would recommend this place to everyone. I will be returning. read more

After a 45 min wait on a Sunday evening, we received a terrible burger and fries. The burger was burned and dried out. The fries fell apart into mush when picked up. I'm not sure if any of it was made the same day. Lettuce and tomato looked fresh and crisp. The Bavarian pie was so freezer burned and hard that they brought us knives to try and cut into it. Even though there were two of us, they only gave us one menu. Sharing a menu the first time you eat at an establishment is a pain. I ordered a hamburger with jalapenos, fries, a diet RC, and clam chowder. The chowder arrived late, and my burger sat while I finished. The burger arrived without peppers (which I still got charged for), the meat was unseasoned and boring. The fries were limp, without any crispness. My brother ordered a burger, fries, drink, and coleslaw. They forgot the fries and we had to wait to get them. Final price: $53 plus change! I will never go there again. read more

What a secret treasure.. especially once you head outside. We were sitting in the dark bar, during the day and the sunshine just beckoned to me to come out on their deck! And what a surprise to sit and look right down onto Silver Creek running fast beside us. I ordered my Kendall Jackson chardonnay (so glad to see that places still carry that label), and took it all in. I also picked their oyster basket, complete with a great side of greens salad with their homemade marionberry vinagarette dressing. We had spent the day at the tulip festival in Woodburn, and were both parched and hungry, so we drove into Silverton looking for a place to tank up - so to speak. It was our first time in the town, and there was cowboy music playing out on the sidewalk, and we were looking for the place it was coming from so we could go somewhere else. We rolled the dice and walked into Mac's Place, and the honky-tonk tunes faded away. Even with the benefit of a wall of windows, Mac's Place is dark, and full of heavy dark wood. We were looking around for a seat in a location that didn't feel like a Hell's Angel's funeral and noticed a big deck in the rear. It was a big termite infested wooden thing, with booths overlooking Silver Creek. We tippy-toed out so as to not disturb residual structural fibers and took a seat above the swift moving water. The menu had a generous selection of standard bar food with the notable addition of Mac's Macs - eight different mac & cheese offerings, including: Bacon Jalapeno, Crab Cake, Veggie, Chicken, Habanero, Sausage, Dirty Shrimp, and Green Mac. I love mac & cheese, and any place that offers eight different varieties gets an extra star just for the effort. I enjoyed my Dirty Shrimp mac, and cold beer out on the rickety deck. read more

Mac's place was really basic. They are a full bar that focuses primarily on food. I gathered this from the crowd that was in the chowin' down, not drinking or playing pool. We were on a mission to play some stick that day. We went to Your Break first...haha yeah...that's a re-review waiting to happen.... *Focus Josh*.... The place was warm, which we were excited about concidering the freakin' cold ass weather lately. We ordered our liquor and headed to the pool table. I loved the clean, sleek look to the blue felt...what I did NOT love was how unbalanced the table was. It was off in 2 ways...it leans towards the side AND the end of the table, so on the opening break the balls migrate to the corner of the table. We tried to play it out, but with 5 balls on the rail within 2 shots, I was ready to pull my hair out. SO...Kill the drinks and lets bounce! Service was 3 stars. One of the girls tending was pretty stand off-ish and the other was really polite, out going, and poured one hell of a strong drink. So it balanced out in the end. I did like the seating out back though, I think it has TONS of potential for the summer time, really nice wooden seats and benches, as well as a view of a lil creek flowing by on the side, that I would go back for....ONLY on happy hour though. With non-competitive drink prices, and a horrible pool table, we'll be trying out other options in the area, or just heading into salem for that matter. read more

We stopped at Mac's after hiking the falls. We didn't have high expectations based on the reviews but figured they could probably do some basic things well enough. They definitely exceeded our expectations. It's not a gourmet spot but they go out of their way to do some extras. I got the burger on a homemade onion roll. It was delicious. I added grilled onions & a fried egg. Super yum. It's not a hand formed patty but it didn't matter. The fries were amazing - similar tasting to fries in Belgium that taste double fried but they use rice flour here. My plate included homemade blackberry habanero ketchup. The place isn't "gourmet" but they take extra steps & it's a lovely treat. Nachos were average but included fresh jalapeños instead of canned. Service was great. I had the House Smoked Turkey Club. It comes with a cilantro-jalepeno pesto and guacamole on it as well as bacon lettuce, tomato and smoked turkey. The cilantro OVERPOWERED everything. I couldn't taste the guacamole or the smoked turkey. The bacon was superbly crispy, but again overpowered by the cilantro. The star of the meal was my other half's salad. The special of the day was Prime Rib salad. Picture this: A bed of leafy greens with a nice layer of prime rib chunks on top. The prime rib was then topped with french fries (yes I said french fries) and a layer of Swiss cheese over the top of that. The cheese was melted to gooey perfection. The "dressing" was a side of Au jus. It was really good. They should think of making this a permanent menu option instead of a random special. The meat was good and tender, the cheese melty and oozy, fries crispy and the Au jus nice and warm. Hooray for the salad, not so much for my sandwich. read more

I ordered a cheeseburger & fries with a side of mayonnaise, along with a side of fried cauliflower. When I got back to my hotel, there was no cheese on the burger, no mayo, AND the "fired" cauliflower was steamed and the sauce was watery buffalo sauce. Very disappointing! read more

Went here with G/F after visiting the nearby Mt Angel Monastery. Its a cool looking dive bar type place in a very cool looking old 50s style downtown that seems to be bursting with new life Its a true dark wood /pool table/juke box type of place..also live music some nights. This is a blue collar type place not some high falutin thing. Boneyard RPM only $3.75!..i am in love already. Ordered food i had the german smoked sausage and g/f had the reubens..also ordered the Fried Green Tomatoes. It was all good..the best FGTs i have had in Oregon..done just right fried soft but still with a crisp crunch in the center. Overll excellent..but the waitress service/paying was weird. Went out on the deck to enjoy the creek and view. There were 3 men chain smoking in a prime booth. We tried to move to a different table because of the smoke and the waitress was annoyed with us. All of the other patrons that came out moved away from the offensive smokers. Service was poor. I actually called on my phone to get a bill. It rang 10 times and no answer. We left. don't know it I will go back. Allowing smoking in such a small space....not good. read more

Came across this little gem while traveling through Silverton a few days ago. 4 stars because the service started out very slow, but our waitress was very nice, there was a good ambiance and was clean, but the service did get better towards the end of the evening. I ordered a pizza and it was ok, not amazing, but not bad. My parents got the cheesesteak and they really enjoyed it and it was big enough to share. I would come back here if I'm ever in town again and would like to try something different from the menu. read more
