You can grab a drink at the bar here, but you can do that just about anywhere within Edgefield. You come to Lucky's to play pool. This tavern is deceptively larger than its entrances would indicate, running a significant length of the hotel's basement level, with four or five pool tables, a handful of shuffleboard lanes at one end, a couple pinball machines, and a generally laid back vibe. Grab a drink and a pool cue, and get lucky!

Got wrong prices on the phone and employees were as rude as can be. Waste of time spot.

Awful service. Meanest bartenders I have ever encountered. Shame at such a nice hotel.

I also love the pool table setup which made me feel like inviting my wife back again to play a game or two. There was also a digital music jute box which I thought was a nice touch..

But over time I'll say this: The Philly cheesesteak, no. The reuben sandwich, yes. The pizza (when they have it), no. The burgers, yes. The chili, no. The clam chowder, yes. I could go on, but I'll add that I love their fries. Today I went to play pool, but I was also a bit hungry. The server gave me the balls to my table. She asked if I'll be ordering something to eat. I said yes, quite possibly. She brought me the drink I ordered when I got the balls for my table. Did she bring a menu with it? Nope. After playing for about an hour I asked a different server if I could have a menu. She quickly brought one. I played for almost another hour before I was asked if I wanted to order anything. By that time, I had to go back to work. I left Sam's still hungry. They get a generous "2" for service. And a "5" for pool playing. So that's why I gave them a "3".

I decided that I wanted a cue of my own, but sadly there was nowhere local except a little shop that only had cues and no tables. So I started looking north and found that Classic Billiards not only had cues but was open on a Sunday! They have one whole wall dedicated to new cues for purchase. If I remember correctly, the prices ranged from $500+ to ~$90. I briefly explained my situation to counter attendant Jeff, and he told my wife and me to pick out some cues, and he would unlock the cases for me. I just have to say that Jeff was one of the nicest, most helpful people ever. I found a couple that were not fancy, just a couple of solid wood, two-piece cues around the ~$120 mark. Jeff got them out of the case and gave me a couple of pointers about seeing if they were straight. He gave me a table and balls and let me try out the cues - with instructions of no chalk and no breaking. I took some horribly rusty shots, and good enough; I had my cue. Jeff got me a $20 case for my cue, and threw in some chalk and an inexpensive tip file. I paid with Apple Pay and we were done. I wish we had more time to play but, it was a weird 'trip to Portland' type of day with our friend waiting outside with her dogs. With that said, we really liked the vibe of Classic Billiards. Great hall, chill players and the nicest staff. Hopefully at some point, when I have a little practice under my belt, we'll be back.
