The food,the service and ambiance were the worst of any sports pub i have been to or heard of. I was there 45 minutes for dinner and to watch the MLB Playoffs and a Trailblazers game. Allthough there were 2 servers when i arrived once i was served the Newyork steak and potatoe, i was never checked on at all. I asked to have the blazers game put on and was told they didn't know how to put the game on. The steak was over half grissle and fat. Overall, i wouldn't recommend pub 181 to anyone. read more

My husband found this bar with a surprisingly tasty menu! We've had a good handful of nice steaks and tasty sandwiches! The prices are fair and the food is fast. The waitstaff is kinda pick and choose. Some are better than others but it's worth the stop for the chow. The atmosphere is a bar and not very exciting or special, there are pool tables which is always great, but just kind've dark. And if you can't stand country music, don't hang out here too long, it's consistent annoying and silly country songs, but oh well. Still a good stop on the way home from work. read more

The fire house burger is amazing! The drinks are great! Right when you walk in the door you'll know the place is for you! The bartenders really look after your safety especially Kelly! One of the bartenders named Krystal knows what kinds of drinks I like! She made A drink for me and called it Hunter's Special Tea! Now whenever she's working and I ask her for it she makes it! We met friends here. The karaoke lady was awesome, nice bar but HELL NO on the bartender!!! Unbelievable that she has a job anywhere let alone as a bartender. She spent the majority of the time telling us how her boyfriend is a motorcycle club member, not impressed lady! She never took a credit card and didn't collect on drinks when she brought them but when we went to leave she starts yelling "hey pay me, don't think of running out" really? You're gross and disgusting. We will never go back and I will tell everyone that will listen this place is trashy. Too bad they're bartender is bringing them down. read more

Came here for happy hour the other day. Wasn't too impressed at my time there but saw they do live music so I would like to come by again some time. Sitting at the bar it was slightly difficult to get attention for another round or to order food. The mozzarella sticks were good but needed a bigger cup of marinara sauce m. I like this place! I mean, it's a pub and it operates like one. It's usually pretty busy here, and loud but everyone is friendly, the bartenders are quick...food service is quick. There's video lottery and pool tables. I do wish they had the heated area outside for smoking, but that's just because I'm a wimp in the cold and actually has nothing to do with the pub lol. 5 stars are for the pub, the service and the environment anyways...but my review is really for the food! I don't know why, but lately I've been craving like a Reuben a week lol...and this place has one of the best! It's always perfectly grilled, the corned beef is so flavorful, tart sauerkraut, and their thousand island (which I don't really like in general) is actually so good that I usually order an additional side to dip the sandwich into it. I think I've had one per week for the last 3 weeks and now that I'm writing this, I'll probably have one today. I ate the first one at the pub when out with friends and then the next two I called in and they were super friendly and had them ready in about 15 mins. The Cajun tots with their ranch are also super crispy and flavorful. My fiancé loves their Philly...nice ooey gooey cheese and super tender, flavorful steak. They pack their sandwiches full and his had perfectly grilled onions and peppers. Great pub, also one of my favorites for lunch/dinner now too! Highly recommend! read more

I come here a lot with my dad. Came here tonight to celebrate his birthday. We left to get some food elsewhere. We came back but they won't serve us alcohol anymore. Why?? Idk. There were people who were here before us still getting served. But not us? Hmmm is it cause the two bartenders are white and we are Hispanic??? Get your shirt together guys. I live in the east aide. I have lived on the west side and when I have a chance I choose this place. Why, it's authentic, it's clean and it's retro without realizing it's retro. Great pub food. Four pool tables, 11 large screen tv's, lotto machines and a real bar. As to the service-sometimes great, sometimes just ok.....but hey, that's why it is authentic. It totally kicked ass when you could still smoke inside and sadly is one of those bars that's still cool...but isn't quite the same since the ban. 3. None of my Gresham friends will voluntarily go with me this bar 4. It still totally, totally, totally kicks ass!! If you're looking for refined conversation, elegantly prepared organic cuisine & the most stunning view of the river that Portland has to offer I have a question for you... What are you doing over in Gresham?!? I'll tell you exactly why you're here, because you got tired of looking for all that other stuff & realized you wanted a beer, a game of pool, and some greasy food in a well lit bar where the crowd's always super friendly. I get a LOT of grief for loving this place, but you know what? I don't care! Pub 181 pours a good mug of the suds (& a very healthily sized mug at that), the food's pretty good, & the people are always super super nice. My wife and I love this place. Game days are tough because it's crowded and the owner gets a little difficult about seating and such. The people are nice, the food is very good and the drinks are affordable, All in all it's my kind of place. Has pool tables, lottery games and a load of giveaways during games. If it was a little less loud it would be a perfect place. read more

Been going here for 18 years. Good, reasonable prices, and attentive waitstaff- especially Kelly. Went in this morning with a hankering for finger steaks. New menu! NO MORE FINGER STEAKS! REALLY? There's no better bar food. The sauteed steak bites that seem to be popping up on everybody's menu just don't do it. Why not just buy a steak and have your buddy cut it up for you? A bar is no place for food you eat with a tooth pick- with the exception of a good martineye. Bring back the finger steaks! read more

Pub 181 seemed an odd choice by my octogenarian mom-in-law for a big extended family dinner. But hey, we were just happy not to be dining at Olive Garden. It was a crowded pool tournament night, and yet there was a table big enough to accommodate. We were introduced to our server by the manager who requested "please be gentle -it's her 1st night on the job." Both ladies were amazing! On to the food: Lot of menu choices, and the relatives ordered a plethora of drinks & eats. A One stand out winner at the table (and recommend by the mgr) the burgers. Any, and all. Hand formed, fresh patties, Great price for a top notch burger. My choice Bacon/Blue with a big juicy patty cooked pink (to my liking) with crisp thick bacon, generous crumbles of blue cheese and mega onion rings. So big. So fresh. So yummy. No matter how big your mouth is this bad boy is bigger. Served with fries or tots I got the crispy load of tots. Hubby ordered chicken strips & tots (not made in house) but really good none the less. They'll nickel and dime you!! Great food, Great sports bar. Has over 20 big screens. UNFORTUNATELY, they charge extras for EVERYTHING. Ask for a tiny side of BBQ sauce, and they charge extra (without telling you). Also, my boyfriend ordered a burger (comes with fries). Our server asked if he wanted fries or jojos, so he said jojos. She proceeded to charge $1.50 extra!! Absolutely ridiculous. Extremely cheap way of doing business and losing return customers. Overall, they have good food. It's all about atmosphere really! Now most people venturing out to the East side of Portland do so with caution. West-siders get that "deer in the headlights" look when you invite them anywhere past SE 39th......and let's face it, there's always that certain feeling you get when Gresham becomes 'Gresh-hole' and you keep replaying that scene from the Chevy Chase movie Vacation where he says, "Roll 'em up!!!" Nevertheless, my buddies and I were in desperate need of a seat to watch the Blazers take down the Clippers, and Pub 181 was there for us. It's one of those great places that gets it right for it's regulars. A great value menu, entertainment, and servers that have just the right amount of sweet/sass ratio you need to keep the working class boys in their places. I like that! Menu is a great combination of burgers, salads, sandwiches, and some heartfelt attempts at steak and chicken. You can easily get a pretty good meal here for 10-12$ that includes a few sides. It's not really veggie friendly, but but I don't expect it to be. Word to the wise, I'm sure the beer battered house fries are cooked with the meat. I had a pretty terrible stomach ache afterward which is the tel-tale sign for me. Not the fault of the Pub, I should have asked. Beers are plentiful and they have a large tap list. They have Boneyard so that pretty much puts a smile on even the frowny-ist of faces. We got a nice size tankard(27oz) for $5.50 and that's pretty amazing! It's a shame they don't have tap lists at the table, it would really help for ordering and re-ordering purposes. Service was great. Really nice wait staff that's cheery and welcoming, and despite being in the throws of 4th quarter zen like intensity with a comical band playing live in the background, our gal handled it like a pro and took great care of us. Cleanliness is so-so. Certainly could use a major deep clean all around, especially the restrooms, but not dirty and doesn't make you feel like you wouldn't want to eat there. It's a very good sign if the menus don't stick together Overall, not a bad choice for pub grub, beers, and a game. They seem to get it right even if they aren't always on top of their game. Not a place I would drive out of my comfort zone for, but a great place for locals or for meeting up with friends out that way for sure. read more

There were other servers in our vicinity who skipped our table whike chatting up oyher patrons. I have been to Pub 181 on multiple occasions and never really had an issue.. until NOW! I went in with a friend of mine looking to get some drinks and good food. We ordered with no issue, the bartender APPEARED to be polite. A good friend of mine who lives out of the state called me while I was at the bar on FT which I thought nothing of and we had a conversation. (MIND YOU WE BOUGH FOOD DRINKS AND TIPPED) while I was finishing my beer the bar tender named ROB H I believe came up to me and said "take your phone off speaker. I responded back it's not on speaker? It is a FaceTime what is the issue? He responded back everybody is in your business and that is not that way we operate here. It is disrespectful." At this point I'm like what? I was nothing but respectful and cool and had no idea these people had an issue with my conversation? While telling him I would hang up and leave because I was to the end of my beer he continued to tell me why it wasn't allowed how disruptive my conversation was to the atmosphere of the bar etc etc? EXCUSE ME? I work in an elementary school all day managing students, staff, families, and visitors and I just needed a break and a good drink! He then allowed another patron in the bar to add comments such as "aren't the people behind her playing for money?!" It was so unprofessional! I have lived in Portland ALL MY LIFE and can say this seemed pretty targeted! I will never go back to this bar again and if you are a person of color I suggest you do the same. Stay away from this place unless you enjoy being disrespected. I can't believe this place has such terrible service. They messed up our order 3 weeks ago. I called and the woman on the phone said she is leaving a note to replace my food. Then i called 3 days ago to get our replacement meal and they had the owner call me back. She called the next day and left a message to call her back because she needs more info. This was 2 days ago. I've called at least 15 times and haven't gotten ahold of her. So i drove to pub 181 to see why they've been ignoring my calls and this is how i get treated. This guy is a punk. No respect. What a piece of crap. I can't believe he has a job. Food allergies are no joke. He could have hospitalized my fiance if we hadn't noticed. This is unacceptable. I wont stop until this scum hole is shut down. read more

Good food, just started a new menu there and finally they are not all beaten up. A decent amount of pool tables, if that is your thing. I am not into it anymore but it seems a popular place for it. They have a good selection of food and it is good. Beer selection of be a bit large but OK. A decent sports bar but my one big complaint is that they do not have the MLB package so have to settle for what is on at the time. One of the guys that works there is always stoned when there, smelled of pot but still did the job. The girls that were there are better wait staff than the guys. We will go back, more for football season though. read more

ANYTIME you go there you wait for service, food, drinks, etc... I looked over that until tonight until a 17yr veteran of the place treated me like scum.
