I've been here 3 times now, and got 3 different subs. The staff have always been very friendly. My problem is the sandwiches are good, but nothing outstanding. They were all just missing that one magic bit to them that makes them reach the next level and make me want the over and over. The first sandwich I got was The Mess. It came on two rolls (one for each 6") which was ok, but not my favorite way. This sandwich was toasted, but the meat and cheese just melted together into a congealed patty which was just not that appetizing to me. The second sandwich I got if I remember right was the Turkey Bacon Ranch, it's supposed to be toasted, but with my last experience with a toasted sandwich I decided to not get it toasted. It was a perfectly fine sandwich, but again something was just missing to make it excellent. Maybe I should have gotten this one toasted. And my final third sandwich was The Meatball. I love meatball sandwiches, it's really my test at a sub place. Again, it just fell a little flat to me. I didn't even notice the onions on it, I don't know if they were raw or cooked. Maybe more onions (raw, maybe red?) would improve it. One thing I asked is if they had pepperoni, as that will make a meatball sub superb imo. But they didn't. And finally, I got their potato salad as a side. It was really good, not the best I've ever had, but better than Reesers and most grocery store versions. My wife really liked it too and ate most of it even though she wasn't hungry. (lol) Overall, if you don't like supporting the big chains, and like smaller home grown places, give this sub shop a try. Heard so many great things about this place so I stopped by for lunch. I was welcomed by Ivy who was so nice, respectful, and helpful when ordering. They have a huge selection of food from sandwiches to soups and even salads. I ordered the mess which is a customer favorite and I see why. It was packed with so much flavor but not overwhelming leaving my stomach full and satisfied. Oh! Don't forget to order their chocolate chip cookies! One of the best I've had in a long time! Came here because I went to Panda Express and they were unprepared for customers having nothing prepared. What a lucky day for me! The Sub Shop was fully open and ready to serve me. One lady took my order and I no sooner got my change back after paying when the lady making the subs called my name and said my order is ready! Now that's efficiency. There are many places to go for a sando but if you want a quick and tasty six inch sub this place will satisfy your craving. I ended up getting their meatball marina sub while my wife got an Italian combo. One of the things I noticed was their meatballs and marinara didn't taste cheap; the marina doesn't leave that aftertaste and doesn't taste like watered down pizza sauce; the meatballs actually taste like meatballs and not like a rubber-band ball dipped in sawdust. Their portions are decent and nicely put together. The prices are fair for what you get. Staff appears attentive and hardworking. I had a good experience at Sub Shop. I've been to Westwood Village many times, but I never think to go to the back side, where this place is located. COVID-19 is still going on, so all of the workers were wearing masks and the customers were pretty good about staying 6 feet apart. They have a few tables where you can dine in and they taped off every other one in order to ensure social distancing. I ordered a six inch Turkey Bacon Club, which is turkey breast, bacon, and provolone cheese on white or wheat bread. I also got "The Works", which is mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, oil, and vinegar. Of course, I also asked for it to be toasted! My sub was good and it was a nice portion for one person. I would be interested in trying some of their other sandwiches or salads. All of the workers were pleasant and someone even brought our food to our table when it was ready. read more

It's food. Not great food, and pending what you order, it can just be bad food. I ordered The Destroyer and a Turkey Pesto foot long. They came on different breads and the turkey pesto was loaded with mayo. Not a good aioli, just a lot of mayo with a hint of pesto. The sandwich was toasted but just ended up soggy. The Turkey Pesto was horrid, no taste to cheese and the meat looked super thin sliced and slimy. NOT happy. Going to try the California club, but it's ridiculous the amount you pay for a bare bones sandwich that is 90% bread. They used 2 hoagies vs a long sub sandwich bread which gives you more bread. Meat to bread ratio, very bad. Thing is, ive ordered the Turkey Pesto in the past and it was not this off puting.. they had a better pesto sauce in which they would not mix with mayo but was great on its own and didnt make your sandwich soggy but they would skimp you on the pesto. I'd rather have a dry sandwich than a soggy one. EDIT: got the California Club, I paid full price for everything, and am even more disappointed. The California Club also had gross soggy thinTurkey, burnt melted cheese, wilted soggy lettuce and onion, watery ranch and tasteless guacamole mush. My best recommendation is to not order anything with Turkey. The supplies have gone downhill. Just go to qfc next door and get a Boars Head sandwich from the deli. read more

This sub shop is the best one in this part of West Seattle. There aren't many good sandwich places around Seattle but this one would be the one I'd go to. The employees pay attention to how the sandwiches are constructed. They don't do it like subway where the contents of the sandwich are made in the sandwich paper wrap. It Makes for a non soggy Sammy :) To the customer that rated 1 star based on clam chowder is crazy. All Ivar's clam chowder comes out of a bag, even at the fancier locations by the water :| So you're fooling yourself. They are fresher then other sub shops because I have seen them slice the meats before making a sandwich. It's an open kitchen so you can see the slicer and assembly area. I really like the new Chicken Caesar Wrap they've been featuring for awhile now - they should make it a main feature on their menu, because no one else in the area has anything like it. It's delicious. How they can improve: offer a wheat bread that's not store-bought. Have cookies that aren't in wrappers.. or gross. (Maybe the delicious baked ones from next door neighbor QFC??) This is probably the only sub shop around that's not a subway. It's been at the Westwood village shopping center since forever. They have some pretty good sub sandwiches. Hot and cold sandwiches, salads and kids menu options. My particular favorite is the French Dip. I know I should probably try something different but I seem to always get a French dip because I know it's good. All of the other subs look good! My boyfriend gets the Mess. That looks pretty good too, it has pretty much everything on it lol If you're in the area, I'd suggest you to try it out if you're looking for a good sandwich shop! read more
