We decided to pick up sandwiches from Husky Deli on August 9th. They apparently have the option to call in your order, but I say "apparently" because we called probably a dozen times and no one ever answered the phone. There was a long line when we got there and there were four people behind the counter. I don't think I saw all four of them ever working at the same time making sandwiches or taking orders. I really enjoyed Husky over the years. However, on a recent visit the service was horrible. I stood at the counter for sandwiches while being ignored by 3 young ladies as the laughed and joked with each other. It took the male manager to ask me if I've been helped before someone came over. I was going to leave. Then I noticed the ice cream line was lime and the young lady, Asian, was do her best to keep up while 3 others on that wide were also gathered laughing it up and offered her no help. Summer is here and I really hope they have discussions with their employees about customer service. It would be really nad business to lose customers because of lazy employees that are more concerned with socializing with each other. Husky deli has really amazing sandwiches. I got to try the "Junction" and "Jack's special". They have really good deli meats and cheese and a wide selection of goods which are from Canada, UK and Europe. They had a variety of Olive Oils, Jams, Marmalade and Breads. I got the focaccia bread and the sandwiches were delicious. The sandwiches used their fresh meats and cheese. They were pretty decent in size and enough for a lunch portion. Our family really likes this deli but after ordering sandwiches over 5 different visits only once have they made our sandwiches with the items we ordered. One time they put insanely spicy mayo on one of the sandwiches. The other time they just missed half the ingredients we ordered. This last weekend we ordered 3 sandwiches and again they made them wrong and missed half of the ingredients. On top of that it took 35 minutes to get our 3 sandwiches. I was watching the nice employees making the sandwiches and they spend way too much time chatting with each other not paying attention to what items they are supposed to be putting on customers sandwiches. The chicken pesto on focaccia bread was delicious! Focaccia was perfectly crunchy, buttery and tasty! Sandwich overall was really good. I wish there was a bit more pesto and more flavor. Such a great local spot in West Seattle! The ice cream line seems to always be long with customers of all ages. The sandwiches here are also worth coming for! Jack's special: a panini pressed sandwich on focaccia with prosciutto, coppa, salami, mozz, and basil. This is a veryeay forward sandwich and so good! I think next time I would get this with a pickle or something fresh because it gets pretty heavy after the first couple of bites Husky flake and root beer ice cream: these have been my favorite two flavors so far! We decided to go here for brunch. We got some sandwiches and they were all good. The bread was a little hard but not a big problem. We also got the ice cream they have by the door and that was amazing! They have unique flavors but also more mainstream ones if you aren't feeling adventurous. I love Husky Deli! I was born and raised in West Seattle and have grown up going to this store. The owner and his family, Jack, are pillars in the West Seattle community and are always friendly faces to anyone who walks in the store. The ice cream is the best I ever had: yes, better than salt and straw and Molly moon's. So creamy and unique and delicious flavors like Reese's, Swiss chocolate orange, root beer, and their special husky flake. My person favorite is the mint Oreo ice cream! Beyond ice cream, they have fantastic sandwiches and deli items, as well as European groceries. A perfect place to stop for lunch or some unique offerings. They also cater events, and catered my high school graduation party. The food was incredible and once again I am always impressed with Jack's attention to detail, kindness, and service. We ordered ahead here over the phone and the food was ready when we arrived. There is only street parking or a paid lot behind the deli. I had to circle a few times to find a street spot, but it wasn't too hard and worth it. There is not a place to eat inside here as it is more of a grocery store. I did stumble upon their ice cream, which had some very unique flavors so I bought a half gallon to take home. This was rung up in a different transaction than my pre-order. It was lunch time, and even though they still had breakfast sandwich options available, I got the Italian. The bread was so good and the ingredients tasted fresh. The ratio of ingredients was perfect and the sandwich did not feel too heavy. Our whole party enjoyed the tub of ice cream I got and the Coffee Oreo flavor was awesome, with huge chunk of Oreo. The coffee flavor was strong as well, so an intense burst of flavor in your mouth. You must try this place! read more

They do have some interesting products. I particularly liked the selection of European milk chocolates. American milk chocolates is just sugar. The service is horrendous. The cashier needs a class in customer service. There was no greeting or offer to help even though she saw me standing there for several minutes. She doesn't seem to be knowledgeable of the products being sold. Horrible facial expression and demeanor. No smiles. The back helpers at least smiled and acknowledged my presence. The lady cashier with the glasses and long hair and large shirt, she was unhelpful. She started helping another customer in the middle of my transaction. A neighborhood tradition. Long established deli, ice cream shop and specialty foods. The ice cream is well loved, traditional flavors. Has outlasted the chain competitors that have moved in. Homemade waffle cones. Deli sandwiches and good boxed lunches at a fair price. You can also find specialty import foods (i.e. European specialities, candies, ingredients). Just be sure to check the expiration date...that is the one thing Husky sometimes slips up on. There probably isn't a huge turnover on some of that stuff. And the staff is nice. And they employ local teens. Delivery and catering too. They seem to have cut back their evening hours as of late, but they have a walk up ice cream window. Their ice cream is better than Molly Moon's hands down, if you can forego trendy flavors. Being someone who LOVES ice cream and basically cannot live without it, I was super excited to try. They let you sample flavors which was nice, as I couldn't decide between my go to mint oreo or the popular coffee oreo. Have been wanting to check out this place for their ice cream for the longest time and finally got a chance! In the past I wasn't able to spot by for a treat after dinner seeing the location closes at 7. But I was in the area and walked by at around 8:45 to see that they had an ice cream walk up window open until 9!! Of course I had to go get some, there was a short line but they were super quick and efficient. We were able to sample some of their flavors through the window, mind you can only get ice cream this time of night so the shop doors weren't open. They also only had one worker who seemed a little bit stressed. For the weather and time of night it was decently busy, which comes to show how good the ice cream is. For us, we settled on a couple different flavors and they were all delicious!! They were so rich and full of flavors with an amazing creamy texture. You can tell that love and high quality ingredients are put into the ice cream here. The worker was also so kind in telling us about the place and helping us pick out flavors. It was a little on the pricy side but never the less it was 100% worth it and I would definitely recommend trying the ice cream here!! read more
