What a place! Stopped by here because I was craving a deli sandwich. Not quite a NY deli but still has some decent sandwiches. It's more panini style sandwiches. The place is actually a mini market with a deli counter and ice cream counter. They have a wide selection of sandwiches - classics, signatures, cold and hot. They have soups as well. I ordered the 12th Man sandwich on marble rye. It was so warm and stuffed with a good amount of ingredients that balanced well with the bread. It definitely fulfilled my sandwich craving! I ordered the full size but it was too much so I brought it home. Decent price for a sandwich at $12. There's a lot of seating available and it wasn't too busy on a Sunday afternoon so you should be good to grab a seat. After the sandwich we were craving a sweet treat so we got ice cream at the ice cream counter. I ordered coffee oreo in a cup. It was a bit over priced for me - $6 for a size small cup scoop. But it was very delicious! I'd definitely come back for the sandwiches, nothing too special about the ice cream for being a bit overpriced! Great customer service all around! read more

My sister and I were helping clean a friend's apartment, when she said we were going to Husky Deli for lunch. I haven't been to West Seattle in years, so I was excited to venture into this classic establishment. We weren't able to actually eat inside the restaurant (curse you, COVID), but we were just excited to browse around while waiting for our food. Because of supply chain issues (curse you COVID × 2), there were a few items that were out of stock. But, there were sammiches, and that's all that really mattered to me. The owner came out and greeted us while we waited for our food, andhe was so very friendly -- making us feel a bit like VIPs in this quaint little deli! So, about the food -- I ordered the Nick & Nora, which was like a big ol' party in my pie hole! Ham (but not just any ham -- it was Rosemary ham), homemade pesto, fresh mozzarella, basil, onions (which I asked them to hold because my tummy doesn't like them), and crushed red pepper flakes. All of this was sandwiched between two slices of amazing, grilled focaccia bread. A total mouthgasm! I very rarely make it to that neck of the woods, but it was totally worth the trip! An old fashion rustic deli serving premium cold cuts. Ice cream counter also available. I decided to give this place a try since it had good reviews. Ordered a "whole" baguette pastrami sandwich with Swiss, Mayo, lettuce and tomatoes. Waited a while for the sandwich to be made even though I was the only customer. When I got back home, I saw my hero to be only a 6" sandwich consisting only 2 folded pastrami slices topped with 2 slice of Swiss, a lettuce leaf and a few thin slices of tomatoes. The 6" hero was cut in half so my meal was actually 2 x 3". It actually looked like a kids meal. The sandwich was plain tasting with hint of pastrami aroma (not taste). This was definitely not worth the $11 they charged me. First and last time for me! read more

Cute country market feel with deli and ice cream store inside. Plenty of indoor seating which was nice. Was there at noon and they were definitely a busy place. Ordered ham panini special whole sandwich and grabbed a root beer from the fridge. $20 bucks total. I can easily spend $17 at a subway and it's nowhere this fresh or charming. Panini took about 15 minutes. I enjoyed it but I'd say it may have needed a little more time or the ingredients heated through more. Crunchy toasted focaccia was nice. I'd go back to try the ice cream and maybe grab some of their unique grocery items. San Marzono can tomatoes are great to have in the home kitchen for pastas and soups. We love this deli but the last 2 times we've been now we've had incredibly slow service. Thought it was a fluke last time when they forgot about our order and we waited 30 min for a sandwich. This time with 7 employees they fulfilled 2 sandwich orders before ours in 30 minutes. Employees seemed more concerned with their plans to hangout, eating & drinking behind the counter, using phones, pens, and register without washing hands again or changing gloves. Seemed annoyed with the customers at the register and no concern for the people waiting for their sandwiches. Really hate to be the person to leave a negative review but I can't understand that wait time with that many employees. read more

Love this place- been coming here for years, only this time it was a little bit...different. Lots of empty shelf space where things were once plentiful. The staff is still great. People working here seem to really like to be at work. I love that. While I was there a young woman came in and apparently it was her birthday because all the guys stopped and sang happy birthday to her. Nice. Lots of ice cream in the freezers- looked fully stocked. Oddly there was a sign saying they were out of aioli...seems like someone should be able to fix that fairly easily, no? Anyway, still good- maybe working their way out if a pandemic/supply funk? Husky Deli is a great local spot in West Seattle. Every time I go in, the staff is so nice and friendly. I have had a few of their sandwiches and they are always tasty. I also love their milkshakes. I have tried the Oreo coffee flavor milkshake as well as the chocolate flavored milkshake and they are both thick, creamy and delicious. Their ice cream is really good as well. I will say that on weekends they are typically busy but what business isn't at the Alaska Junction on a weekend? I definitely recommend trying Husky Deli and we will definitely be back! read more

Really cute locally owned deli shop. Only complaint is that our sandwiches took over 30 min to prepare.. but otherwise everything tasted pretty good. I probably wouldn't get the Italiano again, wasn't that packed with goods and flavor was alright. Liked the pastina and mushroom soup a lot, was very cozy and warm. Husky deli by far has the best creamy ice cream in all of Seattle. I've been the biggest fan of their mint chocolate Oreo, but I recently tried their seasonal pumpkin, and I now have a new flavor. It's like pumpkin pie in a frozen format. Prices here are very reasonable and they offer a good variety of your "typical" flavors, and some unique flavors too! The service is always great and they seem to favor hiring from the local high school, which I really appreciate. The lines can get long, but they move fast and mostly always (minus COVID times) allowing you to sample flavors. read more

My friend offered to buy me ice cream. I went with walnut maple nut. They have a regular scoop and a Husky scoop which is a more generous helping for $5. However, the server gave my friend a smaller scoop than me. :( The ice cream tasted good. They had horchata as a unique flavor. They have a variety of condiments, soups, sweets, and more from the UK. Look like nobody has ever "claimed" this business. Maybe because they don't care? Maybe Because it's a "West Seattle staple" it's one of those things that the locals will blindly cherish and patronize for no other reason other than for nostalgia sake, no matter how terrible it is. I was born and raised in west Seattle and until yesterday, only went there for the ice cream and even then, I was sure of the big deal of it all. Yesterday I thought "oh let me give their sandwiches a try". Place is clean and looked well stocked. Lots of options but pricey. Even the candy bars are $2.00 and more but they did have bulk candy which was cool. Looked like all teenagers working there. The boy who took my sandwich order, one half and one whole sandwich, seemed to disappear somewhere after helping a couple more people, and the line of people all started to line up, so the two young women, feverishly trying to make the sandwiches they are currently working on, are also turning around asking people "is it going to be the usual?" And other questions to placate them as they wait for boy wonder to get back. There were three sandwich orders ahead of mine and I waited over twenty minutes. For sandwiches. They are alright. Maybe WS peeps are happy with this, again, since they are such an establishment so they get a pass. Good for them. I won't be back. I feel like they either need some extra help, tighten up how they are doing things or , and I'm just going to say it, if they are going to hire teens to work a VERY busy Saturday morning , get some in there that know how to hustle. read more

A very nice and clean deli in West Seattle. Their ice cream is amazing.. we have tried the blackberry cheesecake, chocolate decadence and the swiss chocolate with orange.. its a very tough call as to which one is my fav.. thei half gallons cost the same as a pint of ice cream (i am certainly not complaining as i always walk out with half a gallon instead of a pint).. tried their sandwiches and they are delicious.. especially the grilled chicken pesto.. give these guys a try and you will be addicted for sure.. nice friendly staff and above all great sandwiches and ice cream in west seattle area.. I can see why people like this spot, but it has a few major drawbacks. Pros: nice staff, quality ingredients, super fun ice cream flavors. Cons: sandwiches are so stingy with fillings! Two measly slices of turkey, a couple of thin slices of cheese and a mere hint of ($2!!) avocado (plus lettuce and tomato). We honestly get fatter sandwiches with the same quality from the deli at QFC. I'd come back to try more ice cream flavors but would skip the sad sandwiches. read more

Man, I really want to love this place but the constant FILTHY windows are such a turnoff that I can't bring myself to walk in. There are so many people working there, how hard would it be to clean up the fingerprint smudges? The problem was the price for a so-called 'Husky' scoop was $6.00 and it was the size of a tennis ball and it was already melting and soft when it was scooped.I had to devour it quickly before it melted and ran down my hand. I think that Husky Deli is running on its reputation and after the explosion in population in West Seattle, it is milking that reputation for higher profits and getting away with skimpy portions sizes, in my opinion. No desire to return as it was not a satisfying experience and was a poor value for the money. read more

I love this place. I've been to lunch here 3 times in the last 2 weeks. The sandwiches are incredible, but what's even better are the people. The staff are friendly and char with you up at the register as they check you out. But what I think I like more than that is hearing them chat as they make sandwiches- you can just tell it's a good place to work and that they really like each other. The deli meat is also really good- I like the pepper turkey they carry. I was lucky enough to order the Jack's special from Jack himself this morning. Highly recommend! read more

It was dinner with my sister and our folks, and they decided on sandwiches from Husky Deli. I don't know West Seattle particularly well, and had never heard of the place. I ordered the Chicken Cashew sandwich. Yes, sounds totally weird, but I was intrigued. It was actually quite good. The toasted cashews added a nice flavor to the chicken. I had them add avocado as well. Really good sandwich with plenty of fresh ingredients, all of which complemented each other. Only one complaint, and this is where the review lost a star: the sourdough was pretty thinly sliced, and when the sandwich arrived, it was already a little soggy on the outside. Didn't affect the flavor, but it was a little disconcerting. Frankly, they should consider a different sourdough, even if they have to slice it themselves. At least, for this sandwich (although I suspect others would be affected in the same way). read more

A deli like none other! Over here, you can find your typical deli offerings (sandwiches, liquor, chips, etc). Yet, there is so much more! There is ice cream, catering, locally made soap, honey, etc. Even better, it is a family-owned business that draws plenty of locals here. I had to try its ice cream and it was delicious! Serving size was generous and the cashier was friendly. The shop also has a table that is good for groups/family where you can sit and chill with your snack. Five stars for ice cream and service! I was staying in the area on the hottest day of the year, and I was dying for ice cream. I wasn't sure how good the ice cream would be at a deli/bodega-type place, but I wasn't going to be picky. Husky turned out to be absolutely amazing! I got the horchata ice cream and maple walnut on a freshly baked waffle cone. It was ridiculously messy, like ice cream all over my face, arms, and feet, children were staring, napkins and wet wipes were insufficient, had to go home and wash my hands and face properly with soap after kind of messy. However, it was 100% worth it. The ice cream was so creamy and delicious. In fact, it was SO good, I knew I had to go back, even though I was leaving town the next day. I went back the next morning for a breakfast ice cream, which isn't something I've ever had before in my life. I got the horchata ice cream again, and it was just as delicious for breakfast! I also tried a couple of their sandwiches. The Rosie's breakfast sandwich was really good, filled with ham, eggs, cheese, onions, herbs, and other delicious things. The vegetarian panini was decent, but I didn't realize it was going to have a meat substitute in there, which I wasn't a big fan of. The Husky is a must-stop when we visit family in West Seattle. It's a really cool place, with a hasn't-been-remodeled-in-40-years vibe that makes me feel like I'm in a small town rather than a big city. While the Husky is full of specialty groceries and other munchies, we always find ourselves gravitating toward their delicious ice cream. Even on a cold day, it's hard to resist their awesome flavor combos (coffee chip is my fave). They also serve a mean, huge, deli-style sandwich that is the stuff of legends. read more
