Recently got to try The Original Philly's at The Taste NW at The Puyallup Fairgrounds, and man, I have been missing out! Love when local events like that put local spots on my horizon, because I'm definitely going to be making a point to hit up their brick and mortar soon. We tried their $5 Taste at the event which was a $5 loaded salad. It was essentially their classic Philly toppings on top of a bed of romaine, and served with buttermilk ranch on the side. Y'ALL! This was one of my top bites of the day, hands down. I tried the salad without any dressing to really get a taste for their Philly fixings, and it was SOOO GOOD. 10/10! After a few bites without the ranch we added a little bit, and it went so well with it. When I visit I'm not even sure I'll be able to get a sandwich because this salad was so dang good and I'm happy to see they have a full size option on their menu. Pulled up to Original Philly's as part of the Plate of Nations and this spot did not miss. The cheesesteak was loaded, no skimping on the filling, exactly what you want. Wings were cooked perfectly, juicy all the way through with simple seasoning that just works. The fries came out nice and crispy and they're using that same seasoning as the wings which is a smart move. Grabbed two sodas to wash it all down and left satisfied. Simple, consistent, and hitting. Messiest sandwich ever. The sandwich had decent flavor, but the wet filling made the bun gummy. Huge portion at a decent price. The counter, the floor, and the payment screen are cleverly protected by a thin sticky layer. No napkins available so the guy gave us a healthy portion of industrial paper towel. No place to eat inside and there's 1 little table outside; plan on eating in your car or take away. We ate in our car and needed the better part of a package of wet wipes to mop ourselves and the interior - this is a bonus as our cucumber wet wipes smell GREAT! We tried the pepper cheese steak and chicken pepper cheese steak. I think the regular cheese steak was better than the chicken (a tad less dry and a little more seasoned) but both were solid and well enjoyed. Huge servings. Prices have gone up from other pics I've seen online (I think now 13.49 for chicken and 14.49 for beef) but for the portions you get and considering how food prices have gone up everywhere, I think it's still reasonable. My husband and I have been going here for years, I would even crave it when pregnant! The cheese fries are amazing as are the Philly cheesesteak sandwiches! Best eaten there in person, though the neighborhood can be a little noisy. This place gets slammed on weekends do be ready to preorder or wait (we went Saturday of Seafair weekend and were told a 25 minutes wait but our food was up in 15 minutes). The only downside is that my aging adult body cannot keep up with the cheesy fries and for me it can be a risk to eat them! First things first, food is amazing!!! We got the delux steak and the cheese steak. Both were delicious but do note that they go really heavy on the mayo. Next time I'll order my delux without it. It is a take out only place so keep that in mind when planning on eating here. You can place your order in advance so that's a plus and they have an area to keep your Philly warm while you pick it up. Drink selection is limited but that's to be expected with a take to go place. Portions are huge so maybe split a fry order. The people working there are nice and overall a good place. In summary, I would definitely go there again just no mayo. I have had a craving for a good Philly cheesesteak for months, so I drove about 30 minutes with my two small children from Renton to come here. I was initially off put because upon entering the 2 workers up front were smirking at me while I struggled to carry my stroller up the stairs and get the door open, but okay, whatever. I ordered 2 Full sized Original Philly's for $14.99 each and a chicken wing combo. My total was $51.00ish dollars including tip. 10 minutes after ordering, the male worker came out with the 2 cheesesteaks and set them on the counter under the heat lamp. He told me it will be a few more minutes for the chicken wings. Few minutes later, the female worker came up front with the chicken wings and began to bag my order. She handed it to me and I left. In this time no one came in after me and ordered and it was very slow. Due to rush hour traffic and Rainer being a mess, it took us over 45 min to return home with our food. Excited to eat, I see some how only 1 of 2 of my cheesesteaks were in the bag. This is so frustrating. I tried calling the number listed on their website, several times, but no one has answered. As for the food itself, the cheesesteak and the wings were okay. However, I couldn't fully enjoy it being I was laughed at, shorted a $14.99+ sandwich, and there is no customer service. There is no dine in option however there are a couple of tables outside for people to eat at Food: the menu has plenty of options -- all sounding amazing (vegan options available!) we order the deluxe sandwich and Philly steak sandwich both in a full option. You can order a half or full. The full price i think is worth the food amount you get. The Philly steak is just cheese and steak, the deluxe comes with steak, cheese, lettuce, mayo, peppers, mushrooms. The flavor on these sandwiches were incredible (Based on other Philly cheesesteak places I've had). My favorite would be the deluxe that had abundance of flavors to it. They had Philly cheese steak fries that i will definitely need to come back to get! Being born in Philly... this is a good option for being across the country. My friend recommended this place and it is good, but for some reason, we got the wrong order despite us entering the correct one and ordering online. We called and Juju offered us a free deluxe next time we are in town which I totally appreciate. We live in auburn so I am not sure when that will be, but will update when we are able to try the real deluxe. Also, every cheesesteak I have had included the cheese sauce so I was a little disappointed when we got home and it wasn't included. None the less, I would go back! read more
