Tried Herfy's for the first time after living in the area all my life (almost fifty years)! So happy we did. We've been looking for a new burger joint and this place doesn't disappoint. Staff is kind and the food is made fast! Been back several times in a month for their bacon cheeseburger which is super fresh and their crinkle fries which are like Ezell's - huge portions and not salted...just the way i like. Their shakes are amazing too - taste just like Dick's shakes. Their strawberry shakes have actual strawberry pieces in them - definitely my fav. Also, tried their fish and chips which were also very good as well. Glad we took a flyer on this place which is now part of our food rolodex. read more

Great for before or after the Flight Museum! Found Herfy's looking for something to eat before going to the flight museum and I was not disappointed by this burger joint. Once inside you can definitely tell Herfy's has been apart of the community with all of the local fliers up. While maintaining an older aesthetic. Yes I said it 5 stars! It's been a bit since I have had lunch here. We'll it did not disappoint! I have worked in Gerogetown for over 40 years have seen em come and go. Have seen new owners mess things up. This place is still SOLID! It is clean the lady behind the counter was super friendly and eagerly waiting to help us. Today we just had a single cheese burger with bacon, sans the onions!! It was cooked and assembled to perfection. Bun was soft, meat was cooked perfectly for me (just a hint of pink), I know not for everyone! Bacon was done nicely as well. I asked if they still had their house made fry sauce and was told it's on the table. Then I was asked if we wanted it on the burger? What!!! Yea of course!! The crinkle frys were don just on the crisp side. They held the fry sauce nicely. Did I mention they have fry sauce?! Anyway give it a try if you are in the area. I stopped at Herfy's for the first time just now because I was out and about, and super hungry. The cod burger I got was fresh and delicious! The cook and cashier were NOT wearing masks, the double cheeseburger was bland and overcooked, the bun was sticky, the fried mushrooms were nearly burned and smelled of very, very old fry oil. It's a shame, really. This burger place has fallen from grace; I visited often four or five years ago, but it has really dropped in quality. CONFESSION I've gotten jaded. I can't believe I'm an American actually WANTING to review a burger joint and quintessentially American junk food. But I can't find any tidbits or niggles to lower the score to 4.9 stars instead of full marks and it's well-earned. The quality has shocked me into writing. PRELUDE While I waited- no line - just normal custom-cooking time I discover, I was watching a Korean 20-something food hostess devour 40-50 plates of sashimi and sushi from a conveyor belt at a fast-sushi place. I couldn't believe how much she gorges and with each dish saying (English subtitles beneath the Korean characters) "This tastes good, too!" Then she next visits a tuna pen by the ocean (Japan?) and they catch a 300 pounder and prepare it for her up on a misty hillside where she gorges on HUGE chunks of tuna that are so big they don't fit into her mouth until she chews some. They serve more and more; hundreds of pieces, and parts never seen in a restaurant, like the special chunk below the tuna's eye, and the navel, intestine fat, etc. Then they sear some chunks for her. Then they make poké bowls of some pieces. I marveled at her very average size and continuously smiley chewing. Her cheeks, like Louis Armstrong, bulge with the influx. Discriminating taste, no; shoveling in the flesh like a football lineman, stunningly so. Suddenly my food is ready and I'm in for a surprise. ARIA I had tourist sticker shock at $14.71 for a double cheeseburger and smallest ("Medium") fries. I was hungry when I entered yet, as it turned out, I couldn't finish my food. Thanks btw, Yelp! The burger patties were way bigger than expected (never seen wider) so the double was huge and soooo hot off the grill. And the piled-on fries shame the 5 Guys gimmick of spilling fries out of a small cup into your bag like you're getting a steal. I could NOT have had fresher, tastier, more neatly presented, fries, nor burger, had I done it myself - the oil was fresh and the fries perfectly light, yummy, and hot right out of the very clean fryer. The double cheeseburger was about thrice the size of a 'big' burger from McDgerKing-like places. It wasn't classic fast food speed but the food was top-notch cooking and not slow, just properly on time. Both fries and burger were perfect. Perfect. I can't believe I have to say it but they were. So Herfy's deserves Michelin acclaim in my book. I'll be back but sharing the food next time...so I can squeeze a milkshake in :). Double Cheeser and fries was what I ordered up for my first Herfy's experience. The burger was large and in charge. I had to do work to try and put this monster down. At the end I regretted the double beef patty as a beef hangover was setting in quickly. The crinkle cut french fries could not have been anymore perfectly cooked. I wanted to go back and give the fry cook a hug and good game butt slap. They were bomb! The menu has other choices versus just burgs, like fish and chips, phillies, milkshakes, and much more. The one Charbroiled Herfy's in fife uses skinny patties and more lettuce than beef and now the Georgetown location is just straight fried griddle burger. Oh man, if you like your milkshakes to be runny and artificial... this is the place for you! Not only do they completely skip the slight solidification needed in the makings of a quality shake, but they do so with this sly little smile that says, "Hey buddy. I accidentally milked the 'other' udder on a bull to make this delicacy. So enjoy!" And I say that because the vanilla shake that I received just the udder day (Get it? I only had a shake, so my experience was a bit limited. However, there was a guy moaning as he ate his burger, so I am guessing they are pretty good. Chocolate, vanilla, or strawberry? NOT here! There are a TON of flavors. I had chocolate Oreo; I considered chocolate Oreo cherry- didn't get it, could have, and that's the point. The flavor selection is massively awesome, and that sets Herfy's apart from many faster food restaurants. The shake itself had a great consistency- it wasn't too thick or too runny. A good shake should take just a little bit of effort to get it through the straw, but not too much. Herfy's did this well. The only reason I can't do 5 stars is because I think it was just a little pricey, but it wasn't unreasonable. This is a bit retro in name only. My family and I use to frequent this original local Seattle chain back in the 70's, does anyone remember their Wacky Pack? The original kid meal, back in the day.... These are popping up all over the greater Seattle area, I've visited the one in Lynnwood, WA about 3 times they have a ton of seating. The Georgetown location has a fair amount of seating and I have visited about 3-4 times. The GT one tends to be the better of the two locations I have been to. Mainly because they take care of their frying oil and do not mix frying the seafood in the same oil as the fries and onion rings. This is a big NO-NO!! Frying seafood in oil fryers flavors the oil and if you put french fries into that same oil, you get fishy flavored fries!! YUCK!!! Anyway, the Georgetown group either watches what oil fryer they are using for seafood or they change out their oil more frequently. Their fries are served up hot and fresh. I use their "secret" sauce to dip my fries, the sauce looks and tastes much like mayo and catchup.... YUMMY! The menu is huge, well varied I should say, from Teriyaki to burgers, and fried seafood. Stick with the burgers, i.e. chicken or beef, the Teriyaki is sickeningly sweet and the sauce is dumped on the same grilled chicken they use in the chicken burger, hence the Teriyaki is just sauce tossed over grilled chicken, IMO, not the proper way to do Teriyaki. I will say this the portions are nice sized for this dish. Order a burger combo meal, you get fries and a drink, better yet upgrade and order a milk shake!! The shakes are made with softserve ice cream and are to die for!! Plenty of milk shake choices, but I'll stick with the strawberry or chocolate, yummy!!! read more

The burgers are huge but you can get a smaller size like the ranch burger. All the years I've been going to this place I've only had a milkshake once and it brings the boys to the yard tenfold. Very tasty. There are a TON of flavors to chose from. Herfy's serves my most favorite fries on the planet: crinkle fries. And they are always good. No matter when I get them they come fresh, hot, and in abundance. There was a few months there when they were serving breakfast but that came to an end. They have a great "fry" sauce that I think is a mix of sauces with thousand island thrown in. Its a funky light orange color but its so good with the fabulous fries. Herfy's is a bit small so depending on when you go it can get packed. Definitely avoid it during lunch hour unless you are smart and call in your order. read more

Mistake on my part - I should've tried a burger since it's Herfy's... Came here for lunch and oddly, I wasn't craving a burger so I got the Hot wings and fries combo instead.... The crinkled cut fries - (my favorite) were good, of course... especially with the fry sauce (which I appreciate them much for having as an option).... The hot wings.... well, let's just say... they taste quite familiar.... like the foster farm chicken out of the bag... The best thing about this place is the shakes. If you are around 1st and Michigan, just head east a few blocks. I/ve had the burgers (Great), the fish and chips (Great), and a number of the shakes(Wonderful). The walls are lined with a number of interesting posters for different (Mostly theater) performances.
