I'm in town just for the night for work and asked my hotel where I could get a latte and something healthy to eat and they with them in a strictly organic. Luckily I got here before they close because I would have been sad to realize I missed out on their delicious soup and latte! The soup of the day was in curry lentil vegan soup and it was delicious! Chock full of lentils and other veggies with just a hint of spice but not spicy . They had some fall seasonal drinks and I got the shortbread cookie tea with some soy milk steamed into it and it was amazing. They say it's a vanilla Roobio's tea with almond and hazelnut syrup. I asked for half the amount of syrups to cut the sugar and they happily obliged. I also ordered a pumpkin snickerdoodle for later so I haven't tried it yet as of the writing of this review but I'm sure it's meant to be amazing

Based on at least 8 visits as it's my breakfast stop on way to Bay Area and back home. I loved this place BUT last Wednesday's customer service proved to me, that I'm not welcomed. On my final visit, I walked in and stood in line. I waited a few minutes for two women my age order. A employee my age saw the delay and asked if she could take my order from register to my left against the wall. I said ok, but hold on. I turned to my right and asked a customer in her late 70's if she wanted to order. She said no thank you and her two friends were ordering for her. I gave my order and had a minute or two conversation with that employee. As I waited for about fifteen minutes, standing in the lobby of entrance, I saw two different occasions of transients (one with blanket over head and body) enter, get hot tea and leave. I also saw another sitting in the corner. This is common on all of my prior visits but you'll soon read how I was treated quite different than transients. I had waited for about fifteen minutes, saw the cook place two sandwiches in the warmer unit which is about 3-4' behind register. There is an open area between that register and the larger main counter area. I saw a name next to one of the sandwiches so I stepped over to read the name. I did this because the two employees were busy taking an order from a customer. I stepped and looked into the glass reading the name and it wasn't mine. I suddenly hear someone shouting, "What are you doing, you can't be there, why are you there." I turn and explain I was looking to see if that was my name. The employee in front of the other raises her voice more and says, "That is off limits it's only for employees, you need to step back." She never listened to my short few words. The woman employee behind her looked absolutely scared. I was ordered to step back. I became concerned on how they felt so I took three steps to where I ordered my sandwich. The employee continued repeating I couldn't go over to that spot. Both glared at me. Made me feel uncomfortable. I tried to explain why I went to look but was interrupted. I stood there as they stared at me. I stepped outside. As I stood outside...I thought wow, I guess my being a clean cut 60 year old man, dressed nice with a Veteran cap on was intimidating. I waited a minute and re entered the lobby. I stood and waited about 2-3 minutes. I wasn't in a hurry as I'm retired from a different career but still work. The two employees just stared at me. Didn't ask to help me at all. Same ones who treated me like garbage. The cook came up and said sandwich. I walked up and was asked for a tag with my name. I said I wasn't provided one. She felt comfortable enough to give me my sandwich. I exited. I could feel the stare down. I went to my car and called to ask to speak to a manager. The young girl said she was a manager. I paused, and I said your not a manager are you. She said, no and HUNG up. Yup...lol. I called back and asked to speak to manager,...that employee said she was a lead. I requested to speak with a manager...she repeated I could speak with her, she was in charge. I said, I'll see you in a few minutes. I ate my sandwich in the car because it took twenty minutes mostly from their drama and I was hungry. I entered the cafe and an employee in her 50's looked very upset and shouted at me as soon as I entered. A tall young male employee was standing behind her, the woman employee who had yelled at me earlier was standing next to the register I had ordered from. Two other women employees were standing behind the main register. It looked like they all wanted to say a few things to me. The employee who said she was a lead asked what my complaint was. I began to explain, only by third word I was interrupted and asked, "Did you step behind this area." I said yes, then was shouted at, " You cannot go there, did you understand, what don't you understand." I began to speak, was interrupted again, she steps to the open area, spreads her arms away from body and shouts, " You can't go there, what don't you understand, repeats again. She slides side to side. I asked can I speak without being interrupted. She says yes, go ahead, I began speaking and was yelled at, "You can't go there, it's employees only." I quit trying to speak...there is a pause. I look at the employee who had yelled at me..she's now staring at the lead employee. I then say, this was my regular place and last time I was here, an employee said I could check on my sandwich because they were busy. The lead paused, looked up from her blank sheet of paper she was going to write on and shouted that I violated their policy. I stood there, looked at everyone and said I'll never be back as I exited. The lead employee yelled have a nice day.

Stopped here for breakfast before a day of hiking! Got a couple coffee, a Bronco burrito, and an Ocean Roll. The coffee had great flavor, and the burrito was delish and big enough to share!

Really good coffee and great food options. They had breakfast burritos, sandwiches, fruit and really healthy-ish bread snacks (granola bars, etc.) They take debit cards, and tons of sugar subs (that's important to some people). Plus, they said you can get free coffee refills all day long! Crazy. Oh, and the cream is even organic. Such a plus. read more

really bad customer service. 3 people working and hardly doing anything and we weren't spoken to for 5 minutes. girl working the window would just shut the window and turn her back to the customer to talk to her coworkers. felt really podunk. drinks were fine read more

we came in just for coffees and sat outside. they only have 3 varieties on tap and one was decaf. their ethipoian yirgacheffe was sub par compared mainly to Backporch and Stumptown. it is nice that you get free refills on drip coffee, but they have no french press or pour over option which is always a bummer. there sumatran is and always has been, robust and rich read more

I love the fact that they use organic coffee and their prices are still relatively reasonable. Some of their drinks are very good, but I was also disappointed in their Mocha. When I'm in town again I'll try them again to see if it was just a fluke. read more

I found this place on Yelp while searching for a good breakfast spot. OMG!! This place is amazing! It's nice that they are accommodating to any type of diet. Delicious coffee, gluten free breakfast sandwich option that was far better than any I've tried and a very friendly staff. I really enjoyed sitting outside in the sun. I also like that they're not located on a busy downtown street so that parking is easy and the view of the nice brick building across the street is quite nice. If in Bend again, I would definitely go there. read more

Literally the best breakfast burritos ever. I've traveled the country looking for anything that can compete, but they are just simply the best. My personal fav... bacon burrito on white, green salsa and a side of sour cream. Now getting the sour cream on the side is important rather than inside because inside they just put a thin smear and you can't taste it, so a side allows you to dip every bite. Mmmm mmmm mmm mmm. Oh, and call ahead if you're in a hurry, sometimes it takes a bit to make since everything is made fresh to order, no precooked liquid eggs here! I've been pretty happy with my coffee and the service I've gotten at the Bond Street location. The building, seating, and overall vibe are a little too industrial for my taste - not the most comfortable place to sit and read or just sip a latte. read more

We saw the "organic coffee" sign and just had to try it when we first moved to Bend. The lattes are amazing. There is no bitterness to the coffee and it was something to remember. So was the price.....and that's the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars. We went back for lunch one day. I had the chicken teriyaki rice bowl and Al had the bronco breakfast burrito. The rice bowl was lovely! Just the right amount of food. The sauce wasn't too sweet and they put just enough on. It wasn't drenched, which I liked. Al's burrito was "damn good." They know how to make a good quick meal, for sure. We'll be back for more lunch items. So much to choose from! And the food prices aren't bad at all. Again, the coffee is the bomb and I find myself buying the whole beans when shopping so we can enjoy it at home. They just need to figure out a way to shuffle the guy in the dress out the door.... :) read more

I really enjoyed Strictly Organic Coffee Co.! I just moved to town, and have been in a few times. I usually get a 12oz Americano with a pump of vanilla. I was impressed. Being from the PDX area, I am used to burnt SBUX coffee - so this was refreshing and tasty! I'll be back, and next time I'll try the baked goods! read more

For starters, I love this coffee like no other. However I feel like I need to express concerns from the past couple months. I always order the same thing. Rarely am I ever charged the same amount. Only a range of about $.40, but still. Usually my latte is great, but the last few...not so much. Scalding the almond milk & over-doing the syrup. There are a couple very friendly kind & happy employees, but a few who are acting rushed, like it is all they can do to hand you your coffee. Very rude & seeming put out on occasion. Lastly, there is a coffee "card" system here by name but no one asks for it any more & it is hard w/ the rushing to get attention so often I just let it slide. I remain a loyal customer & hope things can get back to normal, Strictly Organic can do better! read more

I ordered a whole milk latte and I have to say it was the best latte I ever remember having. I don't know what the story is behind this place, but I assume the coffee is organic as well as the food. My experience has been that organic coffee is bitter and has a funky aftertaste, this latte had neither so I was extremely pleased. The service was fine enough for me, but then again it was after 11:00 a.m. and hardly anyone was there. read more

I have been to quite a few coffee shops in Bend and I would have to see this one has been my least favorite. I had a coconut/ hemp milk latte that was a 3 out of 10. The energy in there is quite frenetic, not so much a relaxing place to get work done. It seems to be a place locals love though, so perhaps I would check it out again and order something different and to go. read more

Stopped in here to work remote for a bit and grab a bite. Cute spot in a good location, but fairly underwhelming from there. No charge for alternate milk substitutions which is nice. Limited gluten free options (just muffins), but they make a decent latte. Worth a stop for a good, organic coffee to support a local business. read more

I really want to love this place with its organic beans. But the flavor of their coffees reminds me of burnt grains. It just doesn't suit me. As for food choices, portions are small and pricey. We have some really great coffee places in town, for me, SO is skippable. read more

We've made a habit of going to Strictly Organic for breakfast as a family once a week. We LOVE their coffee and their bagel sandwiches are delicious! They always smile and are friendly with our 3yo and even offer her chalk when we sit outside and have a few games and books for when we sit inside. There's usually some guy in the corner playing a guitar which our daughter loves. Our favorite coffee shop in town! read more

GREAT FOOD MENU AND COFFEE! I was recently visiting Bend and came across one of the two locations of Strictly Organic Coffee Co. Was new to me since I once lived here. We loved that we saw the word organic and popped in. The guy working was really nice right away. We also wanted breakfast and he told us their other location (in walking distance) had a bigger menu so we walked over. Before we walked over though the really nice guy working said "here - your coffee is on me since it is your first time here!" Wow. That was awesome and never happens especially where I live. So we enjoyed our coffee as we walked to the next location to discovery the AWESOME FOOD MENU. We got breakfast burritos, oatmeal, lots to choose from and it was perfect. The lunch menu was great too. I would like to know someone who does not like this place. They also have a drive thru. This place was so good that we ate here 3 times for breakfast and lunch on our trip in Bend. Well priced, friendly staff, and all around great place. They have incredible HOMEMADE BAKED GOODS too and Homemade Hazelnut Butter. Try this place if you want healthy options and great food and coffee!! read more

This is a great coffee shop, run by a great couple, sustainable practices and serving up fine coffee and good, healthy food. The outdoor patio, dog friendliness and live music all add to the underlying Earth Friendly ambiance. Great bakery items from Nancy P's, a great selection for vegetarians and carnivores alike, and of course, a vast selection of coffee drinks and a host of whole beans make this a one stop shop for coffee and tea lovers. The owners "walk the walk" and are proof that businesses can succeed with a good business model, Eco-Friendly practices and treat their workers by the Golden Rule. read more

History

Established in 1999.

Strictly Organic Coffee Company began in Bend, Oregon, with two bags of organic coffee beans. Richard Steffensen and his wife, Rhonda Ealy, had decided to make a clean break from conventional coffee and start a brand new company--one that would offer only Certified Organic coffee. Richard had been in the business for almost seven years, roasting and managing at his little sister's busy retail coffee bar. He wasn't sure what he wanted to do next with his life, but he knew he wanted it to be earth-friendly... The Fair Trade market had been thriving in Europe for over ten years and was now coming to the US. Small coffee roasters were given a chance to support a living wage for farming families all over the world. Strictly Organic quickly became a Fair Trade coffee roaster. They bought the beans, built a roaster and hoped success would follow...and it has, thanks to consumers like you.

Hubby had classic Eggs Benedict that he said was very good. I started with a warm Chai and a Bobbin for Apples Mimosa which was magical. Having read the reviews I was prepared to order the stuffed croissant French toast. Last minute change of heart- I ordered the Gobbler, a roast turkey sandwich on a croissant with a flavor profile reminiscent of Thanksgiving. The sweetness of the fig jam played well with the poached pear, savory turkey and peppery arugula. Dessert will have to wait until our next visit. The pastry counter at the front of the restaurant displays cinnamon roles, scones, muffins and impressive cakes. There's even a marionberry and white chocolate bread pudding that would make a wonderful brunch choice.

The chef and owner Kamal came by our table to thank us for coming in and tell us about a jazz club called Cellar 65 they have downstairs where they offer different cuisine experiences throughout the year. We had a unique and delicious Portuguese sausage biscuits‑and‑gravy dish with bacon on the side, and the other plate was an eggs benedict on an amazingly light, airy muffin with tomato, perfectly poached eggs, and a Portuguese sausage link, plus potatoes. Our plates were spotless by the end. The house iced tea was also a standout -- infused with fruit and specialty tea, but without actual fruit pieces in the cup. It tasted elevated and refreshing. Set in an old home, this establishment has become one of Bend's favorite restaurants. The menus have range with breakfast by far being my favorite. However, their pizzas are spectacular and I've never had a pastry yet that I didn't really enjoy. They serve coffee from a local roaster called Lone Pine. The staff is always extremely friendly and I have frequently positive interactions with them when I stop by. Prices are reasonable, and the food is very high-quality while also being consistently fresh. Parking can be a challenge at times, but it's always worth the effort. Not to mention a chance for a nice stroll around downtown Bend after my meal... just the perfect end to complement a perfect day here in this lovely place. Thank you Jackson's corner for being a staple in this community and consistently making every meal here a little bit more joyful.

I had the most wonderful experience at Strictly Organic! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The decor is charming and cozy, making it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy some quality time. Their coffee is absolutely incredible, easily some of the best I've ever had. It's rich, flavorful, and brewed to perfection. Whether you're a coffee aficionado or just someone who enjoys a good cup of joe, you won't be disappointed. But the highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the food. Strictly Organic offers the world's most fantastic burritos, and the Bronco Burrito is truly phenomenal--a must-try! It's packed with delicious ingredients, perfectly balanced, and absolutely satisfying. Each bite was a delight. The entire staff is beyond amazing. They're friendly, attentive, and genuinely care about providing excellent service. Their positive energy ensures a great atmosphere that makes you want to linger and soak in the relaxing vibe. I really wanted to give this place a fair shot despite its low rating, especially since our hotel was advertising it. Unfortunately, it ended up being pretty disappointing. I ordered a vanilla latte and a bagel with egg and cheese, and I specifically asked to add cream cheese. What I received instead was a cold, untoasted bagel with only cream cheese--no egg, no cheese, and not even warmed up. It was such a simple order, which made it even more frustrating that it wasn't done correctly. I didn't make a big scene about it, but it definitely took away from the experience. To make matters worse, the vanilla latte wasn't good either--lacking flavor and just not enjoyable. I don't expect perfection, but basic accuracy and quality should be standard. It's hard to understand why simple orders are still being messed up like this. Sadly, I wouldn't return. read more

I went to Strictly Organic three times in the past month remembering how good it was over a year ago. WOW! This place has sure gone downhill! The coffee mind you is good, but the food was terrible, the service worse. The cashier could not answer a simple question about the menu (maybe she was new) but then asked her co-worker who didnt know the answer to my question as well. Yes there are tomatoes in the veggie burrito is all I wanted to know. Long story short, I asked for no tomatoes, got tomatoes, got a rude reply and they charged me for the "second" burito. A friend begged me to return with him for coffee, we both got the same lame results. Fabulous, now they lost two customers instead of one. I've been back for coffee, but thats it, they can't screw that up, right? WRONG read more

The girl taking orders at register was completely rude to me as a customer and Bend local. I came in with mask on and hadn't put it up over my nose yet when the dirty blonde haired girl calls me out with an attitude in front of 4 other guests to "hey put your most up over your full face." No please, no kindness, no grace. Then she's a brat while I place my order and ignores me when I ask how her day is. Sadly, I won't be coming back to strictly organic coffee and I will be telling others if they want to be treated like garbage that they should go there for a cup of coffee. read more

Sat in the drive through for 15 minutes and had to back out and leave without my coffee. Unbelievable. Why wouldn't they tell the idiot who orders the moon and makes everyone leave the drive through to come inside or pull out of the drive through when ordering stuff that takes a half hour to make. Moreover er, no employees tell anyone in the line that it will be an hour before you get your coffee. Lack of consideration will keep me and friends from going here. read more

Strictly Organic has the best healthy food and coffee. My favorite is the vegetarian breakfast burrito and the hazelnut butter/banana/honey sandwich. I recommend calling in advance because sometimes there is a wait. They are very popular! read more
