I came in here on a warm summer day, there was plenty of shade from the umbrellas outside at the tables, because it was about midday. I went in, and initially didn't like the vibe. Too messy and scattered, even for a "kitschy" little coffee shop. I was pleasantly surprised as I talked to the front counter ladies to get my drink figured out, as I was trying something new to me, and my first time here. They warmed right up, and made me THE MOST AMAZING!! Strawberry Banana Smoothie. I can't do dairy, so we skipped the yogurt? and the mix base powder. I had it made, at my request and their cordial obligement, with just oat milk, fruit and they added the ice I think. It had the most beautiful flavor, sweet and fruity. It tasted like it had dairy in it.. even though it didn't. It was THAT good!! It had the most delightful little crystals in it that weren't like ice, they crunched like protein powder. It was the most beautiful feeling. Best smoothie I have ever had!! My barista's name was Ellery, she was very polite, warm and personable. We all had a good chat, and a good laugh. I love the small town vibe here. And the cute little inside, warmed up to me as I milled around and looked at things while they made my drink. They have, to the right of the front counter, a self service area with a pay station. So if the line's busy, and backed up, you can just get your own stuff, that is, if you don't need an espresso. Super cool!! It works on the honor system. Such trust!! Love it; the old school way of doing things in a business. They also have the most beautiful gluten free cardamom muffins they make in-house, and they're HUGE!! I didn't have one, as they do have dairy in them. Unfortunately they don't have any vegan options other than a gluten free, vegan bar, and something else I don't recall. The outside seating has birds that visit in the bushes, and it's quite quiet from traffic, on a busy midday weekday, I was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed my time here. Love stopping in to Tumalo Coffeehouse. Usually order a latte and a ham quiche. The latte is great but the quiche is really why I make the stop. It is always so good! Today was rather warm so I went for an Iced Matcha and that was also delicious. It can get pretty busy and there are usually only two people making drinks and food so be a little patient and enjoy looking around at all the cute Alpaca goods while you wait. This is more of a "for here" coffee shop than a stop in when you're in a rush. read more

Stopped here in the middle of a bike ride today. We had an iced coffee with almond milk, and it was great! It's a quiet street, hopping spot, with good atmosphere and a nice patio. We went in for a coffee and latte but wound up walking out with a donut and scone as well. The donut was okay, but was reminiscent of the type you buy at the grocery...good, but nothing exceptional. The scone was better than the donut for sure, and the coffees were tasty and piping hot. There's a decent amount of seating inside and they've got some trinkets and fun items for sale as well. Bend is awash in coffee houses of all kinds, from Starbucks to local roaster endeavors. So it would have to be a pretty special coffee house that would be worth the roughly 10 mile (minus) drive from downtown Bend to get there. Tumalo Coffeehouse is that special of a place. Just outside Bend city limits and well worth the drive for fun ambiance, friendly service (by the proprietor), excellent coffee (from local roaster 11R), fantabulous baked goods (all made in house), some savories too like egg sandiwches and lunch wraps, fair prices and a universally accessible venue from entry throughout More to generate my "woohoo" outcome was the sound system playing a nice music mix at a just right low volume to have it not compete with conversation. Today we entered to a Janis Joplin tune and departed to Rod Stewart singing "I wish I knew then what I know now, when I was younger...". Sing it, Brother! Ain't it the truth! Bright paintings grace the walls of the well lit space with large windows looking out onto the street. Seating is available at a sofa, a couple of leather chairs by a window, well spaced tables and chairs in the middle of the room or a couple of stools at a counter by another window. The latter was where my hubby and I perched and watched the passers by on the main drag of Cook Avenue in the little town of Tumalo and sipped an excellent Americano and nibbled deliciously, addictively good sweet treats. For the record, we are on a "it started at New Year" diet, hubby and I. I'm not quite sure how the chocolate covered, salted caramel shortbread bar he chose or the Donut Muffin I had work into that diet. But life is short and opportunities don't always stick around, so eat them we did. (Remember that Rod Stewart tune I mentioned above?) Not only were the sweets delectable but the Americano was first rate. I can think of a lot of swanky coffee bar baristas who would benefit from spending time with the owner here to learn how she makes one. Fortunately for us, this is less than 8 miles from our house. Since those tender crumb, just sweet enough, nutmeg kissed and rolled in cinammon sugar Donut Muffins will be calling my name, that sure is a convenient distance to be able to answer the Siren's call! THIS N THAT: 1) Parking lot in the back of the building. It includes accessible (aka ADA parking) too. 2) A small front patio has a table and some seating for warmer weather times. 3) Universal access here. Rear entry is level in and there is a ramped sidewalk at front entry across from a short flight of steps. Using wheelchair or pushing strollers, works for both. 4) Books and games for little kids is a sweet thing. My five year old grand-niiece loved it. 5) This has been open since November and although I pay pretty close attention to "food buzz" in my community, I only learned of it yesterday when Doug W.posted photos on Yelp. They use an in-house baker who makes amazing stuff. Locally sourced, fantastic coffee, privately owned and operated. In fact you'll find the owner in there most days of the week serving your favorite brew up to you personally. They appear to get almost everything from the area and sell some great items including clay coffee mugs and art all made from folks in the neighborhood. Expect to see some fresh made gluten free, health food, protein packed options available in addition to traditional baked and breakfast goods too if that's your jam. Also, I have no idea what a couple of recent previous reviewers were smoking, but I stop by this place several times per week and have never seen them without PPE or fail to take the proper CDC recommendations, including social distancing measures. There's even a complementary hand sanitizer tower at the front door, and great open air patio in-front meaning you can still safely enjoy your coffee and homemade pie in the sunshine. Just 1 block off of Hwy 20, this cool little coffee house is great. It's a cozy hangout or a quick stop if you're in a hurry with plenty of easy parking and easy return to Hwy 20. They'll even feed you with their Waffle Special or grab a ready-made treat. Quality chocolate in my Mocha- Delish! Chai is another favorite. What a fantastic place! Where do I begin? The staff is so friendly and makes an effort to get to know each one of their customers. They offer a wide variety of pastries to choose from that are made fresh daily with various flavors of the month. Not only do they offer incredible pastries but also delicious breakfast and lunch sandwiches. There are many customizable features available for coffee lovers and several options for tea. To make it even better, they offer catering for special events! They even bake hundreds of pies for people during thanksgiving to grace their holiday tables. The coffeehouse is conveniently located on a corner that happens to fall along one of the Oregon Scenic Bikeway routes so that stopping in after (or before) a ride to fuel up or treat oneself is a common sight to see. They offer water dishes for thirsty dogs, and feature local art on their walls that is constantly changing. I have found recycled bike part jewelry, hand salves, amazing alpaca yarn for knitting, stained glass and lathe pieces made by the head pastry chef and her husband....the list could go on and on. They even have toys for kids and a lending library share. The staff even co-hosts markets throughout the summer in their parking lot for local artists where you can find unique gifts and household items and enjoy the local culture. Great coffee but I was super confused by the food. I ordered the sausage egg bake which looked amazing in the case. When I got to my car and opened it up, they had put it in between a plain, dry English muffin. Butter or jam or something would've made it ok, but who eats English muffins with nothing on it? The service is the best I've ever had in a coffee shop! The owner is very kind and puts her passion into everything they make from baked goods to the coffee. Updating my review. Came here again and service was awful. Barista was a stress case and couldn't seem to manage the influx of customers. Made me a small instead of the large I ordered. Wish the service would have been consistent between days. Original review: Wish I would have discovered this place on day 1 of vacation, it's amazing! The cayenne infused honey latte is one of the most incredible drinks I've ever had! And I loved the fruit smoothies too! Also tried the protein bites - delicious but a bit spendy.
