Oakley Self Storage has been a great place for us to store all our household goods. When we downsized to our trailer, we knew we weren't going to be living in it forever and we're going to most likely move into a house later. This place was brand new and offered great deals. They even have a military discount for all the military out there! We got a 10 x 30 because we knew we'd end up putting more in as we moved into our trailer. There are gates to get in and out, of the storage area, that require a personal code that helps keep everything safe. The only complaint I have is their payment system sometimes messes up. We signed up for auto payments every month and it doesn't always come out or it might be the wrong amount (without our military discount). Whenever this happens, we call and they fix it right away. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommended this place for all your storage needs. read more

I came on may 4th because I really needed storage out in this area, public storage was really no help. We decided to rent a spot here, best decision ever! The customer service was impeccable, we were helped by Christina, she went above and beyond. We're so grateful she helped us. I would recommend this place and to go to Christina any day, to anybody. DO NOT USE IF YOU ARE RENTING A UHAUL! Worst experience ever. They did not have my U-Haul rental ready at the time specified, delaying my move by 2 hours. Staff is rude and unprofessional. There are literally 10 other U-Haul vendors in Oakley, and my advice is to go with one of them if you need to be able to pick up a truck on a specific date/time. 5/4/21 Update: I see the Manager replied, so I'm updating this to point out the perfect example of them not knowing what's going on. No one ever called me, and that's because I booked the rental online, where it stated I could use the app to pick up the truck before their (inconvenient) 9am opening time. On my moving day, the app wouldn't let me pick up the truck, so I called the U-Haul corporate 800#, where they explained that Oakley Self Storage messed up by not placing the keys in the truck and getting everything set up the night before like they're supposed to. I was made whole via an apology from U-Haul and a partial refund. Still, with so much (better) competition in the immediate area, it's just not worth the hassle dealing with this place. read more

I originally wanted my storage in Brentwood and I wasn't thrilled about the idea of having to store my belongings in Oakley. Even though it's the next town over, I just wanted the convenience of having my storage unit in the same town I live in. Long story short, I was convinced to use the new "state of the art" facility in Oakley. I'm glad I did. This is the newest storage facility in town and it's a great 'space'.. literally. You'll be immediately impressed the moment you walk in and meet Ricky or Dylan. Ricky is just plain respectful and kind (something that is rare in younger guys these days) and Dylan was so professional and prompt! To be honest.. their customer service is the reason I'm writing this review. They were very welcoming and genuine. They made the process a breeze and even gave us a box of free cookies. I was even more impressed when we went back (with our movers). After a long day of packing and lifting, the moving guys were very tired and hungry. The guys gave them cookie boxes and candies from the front office. Just great customer service that makes me glad I chose Oakley self storage after all! read more

There is a rodent infestation going on. There was no communication at all until I notice mouse poop. I think they just don't want no one to know. The ladies in the office said I was the only one affected in my area. but I don't agree with that assessment because when I moved out you can see the trail that they used in the back of the unit going into the other units. read more

Beautiful, clean, secured facility!! I was stressed out of my mind when I decided to rent a storage unit and a Uhaul from here. Connie, Jessica, and Sienna were the BEST EVER!!!!! They were friendly, helpful and very patient with me..Upon completing rental agreement they gave me a box of girl scout cookies, and a cool bag!! I was very impressed and am forever grateful for there help and got me some AWESOME deals!! Absolutely am in love with this Self Storage and Staff...Did I fail to mention, When I returned the van on Saturday, they were serving Hot dogs, chips, candy and popcorn!! PS. You not only have to have a pin code to enter the main gate, but also have to put a pin in to open the elevator doors if you have a unit on levels 2 or 3. No pin, no go!! LOL Very Secured!! Very clean facilit, granted it is new. But it also has some pretty cool perks, like the buildings have ac. So you don't have to worry about your temp. sensitive items getting ruined. Also the inside buildings have music filtered in, even after the office closes. Which I find nice, when I'm rearranging in there. It sometimes will take a bit and its nice to have those tunes. The alarms on each unit is defentley a bonus. I feel confedent that my stuff is secure. read more

I can't say enough about the team at both Oakley and Brentwood self storage, I am sorry if I'm pronouncing your name incorrectly Emri, Kim and Christie are fantastic employees and individuals you cannot ask for a better response, care and attention. These people literally help people in need and as customers. To the owners who hired them you make a good judge of characters, I have not found myself in the right track if it wasn't for great customer service. The locations are always clean and smells sanitized. As for Christie nothing better than a person who really cares and very personable in a situation, she will help you anyways she can so that you may be able to have some closure of your move. This storage facility is brand new so everything is clean. The manager at the front is very nice and friendly. The pricing here was probably the best compared to a lot of other places I have looked at. The only thing is it's not controlled temperature which was not a big deal to me. I just got a storage unit here after checking out another place down the road that was very rude. The lady here was amazing! She was very pleasant to talk with and treated me with respect. She answered all my questions and gave me a tour. The place was very clean and had a lot of room for trucks to maneuver. Their setup is great as it's a large u-shape, no weird corners to dodge. They also gave me the first two months at half price! Plus, when I described what I was storing, she helped me pick the right size. I thought I needed a larger unit but she suggested a smaller one. So I was really impressed. I would definitely recommend. Note that they don't have U-haul anymore, sounds like that part of the business was very difficult to manage. This storage is the second to none. The top of the line. The greatest ever. You will not find any storage place better and believe me I have tried. No luck but then came, Oakley Self Storage who's motto's is family and community. The staff, the manager is the best. If you want red carpet treatment, come here. I promised you, you will not be disappointed. Its so good that you don' t want to leave. But you have too. because you got your place. We get candy and cookies here and they have parties for us just to celebrate or show their appreciation. And they don't bug and treat you like a dog if you are late on the payment. they are very caring. I am homeless right now and I have experience great hatred from so many people but when I came to my new family Oakley Self Storage, I'm treated like royalty and the treatment is real. Sometimes, I talk to them about my problems or play ideas and I get valuable advice about life from them or my plays. No conversation is off limit. When you come in, you will find us around just talking to the staff because we all feel like family here. Because they could not provide an elevator for us because it broke down, they gave us 15% of our money back each month the elevator was broke down. This storage area is so clean and so welcoming. You know how you go to some storage's and feel like there are rat drippings somewhere but you don't know where. or you feel like a rat or something is going to come out and eat up your furniture. Not here. It's so clean and warm and safe. It's not scary at night. Oh Yeah, I forgot to mention, they have coffee for us and you can come in anytime to get some. No judgement or crazy looks but a smile that says, take what you like. They love it when you do come in. In fact you get a email saying come in to be honored. They are sad if you don't. The manager who hires the staff make sure that it's someone who is real about hospitality and love for people. They know that all types of life style come thru and the majority of them will be or up homeless. So to be mistreated because of state of homelessness is not heard of. Because no one here is judgmental. That is what you get in the atmosphere. This is a judgement free zone. No one is look down upon. So come and get your "RED CARPET" Treatment. You won't regret it. Had to get storage in between moving and decided to check out OSS after looking at it online. GLAD WE DID! We have used many self storage places over the years and this is one is by far the best! Security system and procedures are far superior. Entire grounds inside and out are immaculate. Upon first walking into building we were greeted by Alexis who was extremely friendly, helpful, and made the process a breeze! So glad we started using OSS! Outstanding customer service! Not only the manager, Connie, was nice and very informative about the process regarding her facility but her staff was also very helpful moving my things! I really appreciated that Rick and Dylan were very careful handling and organizing my things in the storage room. In addition, they had the best attitude helping out; happy to help and very positive. I actually checked out three self storage places in Brentwood and Oakley Self Storage is actually the farthest one among the three that I checked out from my house that's currently being built. Office staff was very confused, and unfriendly. Prior to moving out of my storage unit - I had called looking for insight on renting a U-Haul. The office staff was very abrupt when answering the phone, and stated some upsurd policy - That'd I'd have to contact them the day of needing the U-Haul. Which completely makes no sense, for anyone like myself that likes to plan ahead. As well I was charged two months, during my first invoice. I was completely unaware of this. I utilized the storage unit for a month. When I completed moving out of my storage, I went down to the office to cancel my account. They stated "Oh, it looks like you've pre-paid for two months, and you have one month left." I replied "Well that's odd - I wasn't aware of that." They then went on stating you'll "maybe" be able to get a refund back. Keep in mind I'm no longer even in the unit. I was stated when signing up it'll be $190 for a 10x10 unit per month. The older woman signing me up never stated that she would be applying their "2 months at half price deal" in order to obtain that price. The fact that I was wrongly charged, and given a "Maybe" possibility of getting my money back, is just poor business. A week later a older lady contacted me stating my refund request was approved - When it should've been instantaneously. Overall poor customer service, odd policies, and charge happy. Review update: Shortly after posting my review, I was contacted by Kevin Bray - The account portfolio manager. Kevin was sincerely apologetic on behalf of my experience with the establishment. He listened to my concerns, and answered my questions throughly. Kevin guaranteed he will take the necessary steps, to better the customer service staff. For those renting a Uhaul or dropping off Uhaul from this place do make sure that you have the employee walk out with you to check your vehicle in mileage and gas etc. Make sure the amount of fuel and mileage matches your contract before driving off and when you drop off make sure you have employee check the gas amount and mileage before you leave. I was charged 1.5 gallons of fuel (it's not much) but the fact that I stopped and made sure I put gas over the amount I had picked up the van before dropping it upsets me that they charged me for fuel. Come on if I knew the fuel was 1.5 gallons less I would have put in an extra 3 gallons. I went in to drop off keys the same guy who checked out the vehicle with me was there with another employee. He said I was good to go and I asked if that was it he said yes. You would think normal procedure would to walk out with the employee to check out their vehicle before your good to go just like other Uhaul dealerships. read more

This was my first time at the Oakley Self Storage and it was a quick and easy experience. The facility is very clean and accommodating. The lobby had coffee and popcorn for you while you were waiting and the staff was more than helpful. I was helped by Ricky and he knew his stuff and got me the unit I needed for a great price. Called an hour before our scheduled pick up to tell us the customer had not returned the truck so now we didn't have one. They did try and call other places for us and found one at Rovers end Marina another 20miles from us( charged by the miles). Rivers end was a little cheaper on mileage price, we had to go a truck size up because that's all they had. I would not recommend this place. read more

The movers are very helpful right now due to the elevators being down for the past 1+months!!!!! Kevin with corporate is absolutely wonderful and took more than wonderful care of all the concerns and issues I have had here. I can only hope that my experience here gets much better from here! I'm very unhappy with the service I've received from Oakley Self Storage. At first things were fine, they signed me up and I moved my things into their storage very easily. However...in month two they charged me full-rate when it should've been 50% for the first two months. I called and spoke to Sienna (sp?) who told me she would have the manager Kim get in touch with me the next business day. That was on 8/6/19, since then I have not received any communication about what's going on. I haven't gotten a refund for the overcharge, nor have I even been contacted since my initial call. I've since spoke to Sienna twice whom is increasingly rude when I press for a response from Kim or an update on my refund or credit to my account. Every time I call, including today Kim is either off or not there to take my call. I've been told how they can't get office checks, so they can't address my issue. Am I just out my money? Is the contract we signed only apply to my conduct? Is there no standard for timely response or customer service at Oakley Self Storage? Am I making an unreasonable request for this error to be fixed? I'm increasingly getting irritated that I have to go through so much effort to get this corrected when it was their error to begin with. There doesn't seem to be any issue in charging me, why can't this get fixed right now today?? If this isn't fixed in the month of September I won't be a customer any long in the month of October. read more

I moved my belongings into this facility a year ago next month. When I went the elevator was not working and I couldn't climb stairs. They put my belongings in a huge storage unit on the first floor at a huge discount because of the elevator. They honored the discount for the entire year! The place is immaculate and I never worried about my possessions. I am moving out in a few weeks because I've finally found a home. This is a wonderful company! read more

When we got our storage here it was great i was concerned with it being on the 3rd floor but theyassured me our unit was clise to the elevator. And then the elevator breaks down and that was about 2 months ago and is dtill broke down today. Im not sure whats really going on there but since they broke down they have continually told us the samr bullsh.t story that the part would be there on a couple of days. Lies the staff was helpful but we did most of the work hauling all of our things down three flights of stairs ridiculous. And they offered us a lowsey 15% off when it should have been 50% off for the kind of inconvience this caused us. If u get a down stairs unit u will be fine but they really screwed all of the upper floors and their compibsation wasnt even close to what they should have offered. For the lies i would never take my things back there i think they owe us money for having to go thru that hell because that was what it was hell! read more

I have used Uhaul in Oakley & Brentwood Ca several times to help my adult children move and it has always been pleasant and affordable with the exception of the truck rental on May 15, 2019 from 4700 Main St Oakley ca. First of the estimate was $164 to drive from Oakley to Bethel island when the other local estimates were always under $100. I asked the girl why she put down 100 miles for the move which is 7 miles each way and she said that was the policy for the credit card hold. I signed the papers & was given the key and all seemed ok. The next day I returned the truck and asked when the excess money I had paid would be debited because I had only driven approx 40 miles She said by tomorrow but the next day I was charged $264 because she told me I had driven an extra 100+ miles. I again explained that is was a local trip and instead of saying she would look into it or sorry for any inconvenience she said "you drove over 100 miles and owe that amount." I then asked why we never inspected the miles the day before and that I believe the error was made by writing a digit wrong when then looked at the odometer. She said it was up to me to ask to look at the odometer initially and I have to admit I trusted the employee that everything was ok. I asked to talk to a manager & she said she was the manager & then I asked for a higher up. She gave me the customer service # which I called on May 16 2019 and they opened a complaint and said a field manager would called me without 72 hrs. I never heard from anyone so called again on May 20 & was told they resubmitted my dispute and then I called again May 24. All the person who took the report said was you drove over 100+ miles. This company has no regard for customer satisfaction nor even he courtesy to hear what their client has to say. I was treated like I had done something wrong & was disingenuous. They cannot even return one of 3 phone calls nor leave a message. No simple answer as to why they don't initial the viewing of the odometer with the customer or the possibility that maybe the odometer was recorded incorrectly. I believe this location needs better employee training but even more the headquarters needs customer service training on just how to promptly get back to customers & how to speak to them. Without customers you have no busiTheir lack of professionalism of course trickles down to the branch employees. UPDATE: on 6/18/19 manager Tim Kris refunded me $140 and I was satisfied & happy. Uhaul is still a good value when moving and this has taught me a lesson in taking my own photos of odometer, gas level & any body damage at time of rental so as there is no questions later. read more
