This place is horrible have only had my unit 2 days and out gate code won't work can't get ahold of anyone on property NO one has been here for 2 days and also the property manager hasn't picked up any phone calls! Good luck if there were a fire or emergency on site! The fire marshal and fire department need to know that there is no one you can get a hold of if an emergency or you get locked in can take 30 minutes! I needed to rent a storage unit & Public Storage was conveniently located close to my house, no waiting list, rented the unit on-line & they leave a lock for you inside the unit, yes you pay for it, not sure how much they charge for their lock, that can only be used at a Public Storage.. The unit was nice size & clean, you have access from 6am - 9pm everyday oh and the units have lights that come on when you roll up the door! And restrooms. I sent an email to the district manager regarding a problem that I had with one of the employees there. I want to share my letter to the district manager and waited for his reply... No reply... No resolution... ( By the way, after reviewing some of the postings about some of the problems that they are dealing with is correct... there are so many rat poops all over the boxes in our storage... we didn't open them up in a few months and were shocked... Unbelievable... So, we are in the process of clearing out the storage anyway...): Dear Mr. Jones, My name is Alisa and I am profoundly deaf. My husband and I have been a loyal Public Storage customer for three years. I am writing this letter to bring to your attention one of your employees who mistreated me. I asked him if I could use the bathroom and was in a lot of stomach pain. He answered me with his mask on. I couldn't understand a word he was saying and asked him to either take off his mask for me to lipread or to write down what he was saying. He refused to communicate with me and finally wrote just one word that I couldn't even read because it was not clear. I pleaded with him telling him that I really needed to use the bathroom but he either kept talking or stood still doing nothing. I was frustrated, in pain, and went out to find a nearby gas station that serves their customers buying gas and/or food and providing a bathroom. This morning, I went back to the office and communicated with the same employee, David. I asked him could I speak with the manager about the bathroom situation and his mistreatment toward me. He answered with his mask on. Again I told him that I cannot understand what he was saying and that he can either remove his mask for me to lipread or to write. He just kept talking or standing still.... I continued repeating that I needed to see the manager. (Finally, he removed his mask and yelled at me saying that he will not help me and I needed to leave) I was beyond disbelief for the way I was treated. I like several employees that work there except him because of their willingness to communicate with me and I have had no issues with them. I want to bring awareness that deaf people should not be treated this way without any form of communication and the unwillingness to even respond in the written form if lipreading wasn't an option. I was left powerless there without any resolution. It was awful. This particular employee needs to be investigated and removed. They have had 6 or more breakins in the past 6 months. When OPD was contacted. OPD advised MOVING as this was the WORST storage in Oakley. When management was contacted their reply was "If you don't like it MOVE" When they sign up unsuspecting NEW customers they don't say a word about break-ins nor do they advise anyone not to keep valuables inside their unit. I have names and numbers from several lessee's whom have lost (collectively) over $30k in personal items in the last six months alone. The security gate has been non functional for over 7 months. When I asked about repair IVANA the manager said "It's in the works to be repaired" I explained that it can still be opened and suggested she chain it. I gave her a chain and WE CHAIN LOCKED it together. Thieves have ripped doors down (see photo). Pried open a unit(see photo) There are security lights that are non functional. NO NIGHTIME SECURITY. It seems as though this MAY be an inside job as some units are broken into that are behind secure password protected barriers. read more

If I could give -stars I would! Rodents ruined our belongings now my family lost our mattresses, kids clothes and blankets. There stuffed animals etc.. and they cancelled our insurance just because we were behind even though we paid it up and upped our price!!! The district office won't call back. DO NOT STORE YOUR ITEMS HERE! I lost mostly everything I owned that was destroyed by field rats chewing, their mud, feces, and urine! This place needs to be shut down by the health department! I couldnt even bare to sustain standing inside of the unit because the unsanitary environment had caused me to start coughing and wheezing! And, I do not have asthma. I left majority of my items behind because of the filth and ruin. Smh Their insurance rejected to allow us to file a claim without presenting them receipts for everything damaged. Smh This place is pathetic! We informed them last month that we were moving our belongings out of there and they charged us the total month for May after vacating on the 1st day of the month. They said because they do not prorate the days. They also stated that they were going yo auction off the belongings I left behind, which they do not deserve such earnings for. I should have giving away my two big screen T.V.'s instead of leaving them there for them to sell. But, the place was just too inhabitable for me to bear any longer. I reserved online and stopped by for a question, she took me on tour to view the indoor and outdoor space gave me option and made sure i was well taken care of. I am new to the area and was shopping around for facility reviews as well as customer experiences. I came across four or five different ones within the city of Oakley where right now stay. After making various phone calls to each, I kind a gauge the customer service from the general conversation I had with each representative. I asked about gate hours as well as pricing per month and if there are any other promotions. By far, RAVEN from PS-Oakley, stood out the most. Her knowledge on different sizes, availability, pricing per month, bang for the buck promotions as well as overall proximity from where I lived really showed that she took great care and making sure that I had all the information. How often do you find this type of customer service from any business out here nowadays? I reserved my spot that I was interested in online and it was extremely more affordable than the other competitors within 2 miles from my house. When I showed up, she greeted me with the same type of awesome service over the phone as she is now doing in person. She walked me through the different available units, dimensions outside and During that time, she continue to educate me on being a smart shopper and look around at other businesses and facilities and compare the pricing and the different offerings. She didn't try to upsell me with a 20 x 60 that I did not need and really stick to what my specific needs were. Again, outstanding customer service and genuine honest help! Some of the features that really sold me to this besides the customer service was the availability of the gate hours and that it is 365 days a year. I also appreciated the lighting fixtures and the proximity of my new unit as well as the space between the units across the roadway. Other venues are very tight and can barely fit two cars going in either direction. I could nearly make up for U-turn with my track with the layout of the facility and unit. Really impressed. If you're debating on places to rent, I definitely recommend public storage in Oakley. It's close to two different freeways and the security gate and keypad are very conveniently placed where you don't have to get out of your car or have any type of inconvenience coming in and out. Keep up the great work over there Ms.Raven and Ms. Ivon(manager) A message to the owner of the facility or general manager, keep this customer service representative, Raven, happy because she is definitely a keeper! 90% of my decision was based on her service to my family! read more

My boyfriend and I were looking for storage before we found an apartment, and Sunny made it really quick easy to get everything set up. Yvonne the manager of this location gave us incredible customer service. She has a warm personality and very pleasant to work with. This is the positive part of the review. Now the negative part of the review is to not to put your stuff in this location off Main Street in Oakley because out of the 4 months I was there 4-5 units were broken into and vandalized including mine. I also noticed that there was only two cameras at this location. One in the office and at the main gate. No wonder there is break ins because there is no coverage. Over 100 units and only 2 cameras. I complained to Van Jones the DIstrict Manager over Yvonne and he was no help whatsoever. In a span of two weeks there was about 4-5 break ins. Of course I subscribed to insurance and paid an extra 11 dollars a month. Make sure that you have all of your receipts which I did not have because some of the stuff that I had in storage was 15 years ago and why would I keep receipts. Long story short I did not get anything for my loss and more money down the drain. Public Storage WHERE IS OUR MONEY GOING TO? Moral of this review is if you need to store any of your stuff in a locker make sure there are cameras so at least you are protected of your prized belongings. We were in over the weekend to get prices and find out our options for storage. I have to admit I was pretty impressed. First of all, as soon as we walked in, the staff member named Alyna, made it a point to acknowledge our entry and greet us very positively even though there were a few other people she was currently helping. When our turn came she was very knowledgeable and patient with all of our questions. Her Customer Service skills were amazing. During our conversation she mentioned she was the Property Manager, and to tell the truth, I wasn't surprised! When I lost my house I needed a storage unit that was close and affordable. I wouldn't say the unit ( 5x10) was all that affordable (159.00 mo) but the first months rent was free so I took it thinking I wouldn't be needing it that long. The red flags began the second I started filling out the paper work. Added cost for insurance which is mandatory. Not sure about anyone else but I think I'm capable of deciding if I need insurance on my own things. I was forced to purchase their lock and again wonder why I'm being forced to secure my things with their ideals of whats best. Later, I realized there where a lot of units with store bought master locks which cost 1/3 of what I had to pay for mine. There was suppose to be 2 security doors to get inside. The door that was closest to my unit was constantly broken so I was forced to take the long walk around. Same with the entrance/exit gates. After 6 months of being there they raised my rent from 159 to 179 without so much as an email. When I asked about the increase she said I was one of the lucky ones. A lot of their customers uncured a $50 increase with no advance notice and she said they didn't need a reason to raise it. I told her I thought that was ridiculous and she agreed and mentioned that most people just find another storage company. WOW.....not the way I'd run a business. I will be taking my business somewhere else also and realize that I can get the same size unit from several other storage companies with the same features and security, if not better for under $100! I'm really of two minds on this place. It is clean and the staff that I dealt with were very helpful. However, the positives end there. During my use of the storage unit, I had some things stolen (my fault). Micah at the front desk was helpful and called me to let me know that our unit was open and some things appeared to be missing. We immediately called the police and met them there at the storage unit. The property has surveillance cameras and the people that broke into our unit were visible and identifiable on the recording. When the police asked for a copy of the recordings so they could pursue the matter (they identified the perpetrator), they were told that they could not have a copy. The continued to try and we did as well. We called people above the normal front desk staff and left multiple messages but we were never contacted back. Apparently they never check their messages or actually answer the phones. We were never able to get the recordings to try and recover our property. It is absolutely not worth storing your things at this facility, no matter how good of a deal it may be to do so. You are going to get absolutely no help if anything happens to your things. The management/ownership should be absolutely ashamed of having the recordings but refusing to turn them over to the police to help us out. No excuse from them will make what they did ok. read more
