I recently experienced a stark difference in shipping costs when sending a box to a customer in Illinois. The pricing at the Postal Annex was outrageously high, and after reviewing the charges, I realized it was nearly 35% more expensive than simply going to the United Postal Service (USPS). While I can appreciate the added convenience and services that Postal Annex offers to its clientele, such as packaging assistance and additional options, their pricing feels excessive for basic shipping needs. It's disappointing to see such a huge markup, especially when the USPS provides a more affordable and equally reliable service for shipping. On several of my shipments, I asked to see what the least expensive option would be, every single one of them they stated that UPS ground was the least expensive and went on to tell me that USPS on some occasions was even a little bit more expensive for shipping for the same location/address, size and weight of box, and timetable. I have mailboxes there, I make copies there and use their mailing/shipping services. They have plenty of different sizes of boxes/envelopes and they have all the packing materials you'll need! The service is terrible as it is very unorganized in the small back room. I went to pick up mail and it took the manager about 15 minutes to find my mail as he could be heard moving things around in the back. He was very rude when he returned. Under the new management of the past few months, service has become slow, unreliable and cold. Despite additional staff, there is often a line, usually of frustrated customers. Complaints are turned back on them. The new owner seems frustrated and irritable already. Staff morale is consequently low. They barely speak if he is anywhere nearby. Have actually come to dread going in there. This is ridiculous. Cancelling and going to a store that still welcomes customers and happily provides reliable service. read more

This review is for new owner Mr. Wahidi, had this been under the previous owner Robert it would have been 5 stars. I have been a mailbox customer of Robert's for a little over 2 years with no problems until the new ownership. Problems since Mr. Wahidi has taken over. * Several mail items that are not mine are continuously put in my box, I keep reminding the staff including Mr Wahidi himself but it still happens, with no apologies. This is frustrating because I have a small mailbox and the other items smash my mail. * Disorganized! Mr Wahidi and his staff constantly do not know where my packages are or say I do not have any packages when I clearly have a shipping confirmation that it was delivered. This is concerning to me as I find that I can no longer trust that my packages are safe and in good hands. * Unknowledgeable. I get that Mr Wahidi is new to this and hopefully this will change, but for us regular customers the lack of understanding of the business is extremely frustrating. * Long Wait Time. Due to the aforementioned disorganization and inexperience the lines and wait times are at an all time high. Hopefully this will change as the staff and new owner become more acclimated to their roles and responsibilities. Unfortunately I will not be renewing my subscription and will take my business to another more established postal annex where I know my packages are accounted for and in good keeping. Brought a box full of goodies looking to get it shipped to my Cousin fighting in Iraq right now. They weighed & measured my box and the the total came to $80++. Which I was happy to pay, no complaints. Then either the owner or another worker stepped in and suggested that I us the USPS box that "if it fits, it ships". I drive all the way across town to the Postal Annex for one reason: the excellent service. I could find the same services offered at different - much closer - locations, but I make the drive because of the staff. It's rare to find businesses that treat you like a close friend. Casey always greets me by name and Kevin has multiple times seen me walk in and retrieves a package before I even open my mailbox. They are very helpful in helping you to find the right carrier and service for your needs and sometimes this is different than what I already had in mind. They are friendly and courteous and having all 3 of the main carriers makes it easier and faster to get my errands done, than having to run across town to each individual carrier. read more
