My wife, kids and some friends went here to celebrate our anniversary. First, the atmosphere and ambiance is AMAZING. We felt relaxed, comfortable and spoiled. The server felt like she was catering to us and management checked on our table a few times (partially because we had been sitting at the table for almost 3hrs ). The food was great. Several staff members loudly conversing and laughing. Two of them made eye contact with us but never greeting my table. I ask host when she was walking by if a server was coming over. After ten minutes we walked over and sat at the bar with Cody. Cody the bartender served our drinks promptly. The server walked over and loudly told the bartender that he stole his table!! The food is consistently delicious. I shared the Caesar salad with my husband. It was more than enough for two people. My husbands prime rib was very good. I had the Bistro Chicken which is Panko Parmesan crusted with lemon caper sauce, absolutely delicious! The dinners came with your choice of two sides. The whipped garlic mashed were silky smooth. My sisters and I chose this restaurant for a belated birthday celebration. It was wonderful. The steak rolls as an appetizer were delicious. I ordered the bistro chicken - and it. was. amazing. The breading was perfect, the sauce was just right, there were plenty of capers...there wasn't a thing wrong with it. At the suggestion of my sister, I added the carmelized onion to my mashed potatoes - wow - she was right! Our server wasn't the warmest. I had lunch with a dear friend and her daughter here. The experience has is one that will keep me from returning there. The service and food was lackluster. It took us to inquire about the status of the order to receive it. It arrived at the table cold. Steaks were over cooked. I believe the server possibly was either let go or quit as she was viewed exiting the restaurant with a coat on. There was a period of time we sat at the table waiting for some sort of acknowledgment. I finally decided to seek assistance from a manager. We were told that there would be no charge for the meal. I love it! It gives you that vibe of J Alexander but an upgrade. Very nice ambience the staff is knowledgeable and professional and the food is always hot and fresh. It's perfect for a drink at the bar or even date nite with that special someone. The nose level is not over done either being it is medium-large interior but spaced appropriately. I've had the fish tacos from here which were removed from the menu pre-covid they were hood so it hurts to know they have phased them out! Typically I get an entree and app & for small portion I suggest the Crab and Lobster Bisque and the Caesar salad which is always on point for my quick bite. I wanted to like my visit here more, but the food didn't live up to its prices or description. On the positive side we sat at the bar and enjoyed the ambiance. The bartenders and wait staff were professional, friendly and competent. The inside of the restaurant is lovely and you feel like you're at a high end joint. The wine I ordered to go with my steak was delicious. We decided to try the coffee cured filet - w/the au gratin potatoes and ordered a side of creamed spinach. We were so excited to try it, but the steak just did not hit it out of the park, we were disappointed with the flavor. The potatoes were good, the spinach was not great. Anyways - this was my 2nd visit here, the first time I tried the medallion trio, again, good but not great. Came in for Sunday's brunch to celebrate my daughter's 13th birthday. Although the food was excellent, the drinks were amazing! The service was top-tier. The ambience was very settling and comfortable. However after receiving the bill and trying to use a egift card a situation happened where the shift manager at the time accused me of my egift card being fraud. She set the tone ask me to get out of my set and follow her to the computer, although we were signing happy birthday to her I had to step away in order to handle that whatever problem the shift manager was stating . She asked for my phone, and ask who and how did receive egift card! Very strange to me... seeing the person in beside picking up Togo order using gift card didn't have nah problems! The decor of this restaurant is absolutely beautiful. They did an amazing job decorating it. We made reservations and we were seating right away. The food was amazing and fresh. Their bread was unreal. For appetizers we had the spinach dip which was average and we had the steak rolls which were amazing. For dinner we all ordered steaks. They were all cooked the way we wanted them. We got mashed potatoes, asparagus and creamed spinach for sides. They were all tasty and fresh. For dessert we ordered creme brûlée which was unreal and a cookie cake that was okay. Their drinks were all very good as well. Thank you for creating a romantic ambiance where you can barely see your menu or the other person but not every visit is of a romantic nature so you should have some tables available where that is not the default setting. 2. Very cool and modern looking restaurant in a great location. Very nice wait staff and for the most part knowledgeable about the different items on the menu. 3. Get the steak rolls, it was absolutely delicious. The steak au poivre was decent, it just tasted like a good steak but nothing special as the French in the title suggests. The rib eye came out perfectly cooked and was very good. I just kept thinking I'm paying way too much for something that I know I can make at home as long as I get a good cut of meat. My initial review of this place was phenomenal. I had an amazing time, great service, even better food. I have highly recommended this restaurant to many of my friends, some of which have become regulars here. Unfortunately, my recent experiences have been disappointing. Usually I order carry out and the bar and they almost always forget something in my order. Now, I make them open it all up there before I leave. I came in yesterday with someone that I had been wanting to try this place. A waitress came by to ask us if we wanted water and after we got our water nobody came. I called out to her and she said someone else was supposed to be our waitress but that she would take over. After this, our orders got messed up. They forgot items, which usually happens here, and they brought out the wrong dressing for my salad. As an app I ordered the steak rolls (of course). They weren't as good as they have been all of the other times. I think it may have been that they hadn't been filled enough. I also ordered my regular salad (Caesar with avocado, blackened salmon, herb vinaigrette, no croutons) and fries. They brought the wrong dressing, as mentioned before. They also initially forgot my fries. When they came out, they came with ketchup when I wanted ranch. The fries weren't as good today. Many of them were soggy. This place used to have my favorite fries, they were crispy and fresh. Today they were horrible. Must have been an off day overall. My partner ordered the Thai chicken salad and he added tomatoes to it. They forgot the tomatoes too. They also never brought out the donut rolls. We had to ask for them towards the end of our meal. My partner enjoyed those the most. The service was horrible. The waitress we were supposed to have told us that she was new, so I understand. It's just inexcusable to have horrible service if the restaurant is not busy. My partner was really upset about this, bad service is one of his biggest pet peeves. Mainly for this reason he prefers J Alexander's. He also wanted béarnaise (he always orders it at J's) sauce for the steak rolls and 10 minutes later they told him that they only offered it for dinner. This is odd considering it is just a sauce. It was really disappointing to bring someone to a restaurant you constantly rave about, only to disappoint them and yourself. Nobody but the new waitress (in training) apologized about the lack of service. The new waitress was really nice so I wish her luck, but on top of that our orders got completely messed up. I can see why the reviews have been plummeting. I don't plan on coming back anytime soon, but when I do I will make sure it's on the weekend. After learning that Stoney River shares ownership with J Alexander's, I couldn't wait to try this place out. I celebrated my birthday dinner here and had an exceptional first time experience. I came here on a Friday evening and when we were seated there was a envelope on the table with Happy Birthday written on it. Such a thoughtful gesture to receive a birthday card! Our waitress was very friendly and checked on us frequently. Not a huge cocktail menu but lots of wine and beer choices. The interior is contemporary with both booths and tables. Very open with high ceiling. The menu is very similar to J Alexander's. I passed on the bread rolls they brought to the table due to a gluten intolerance, but my date said that they tasted really good like donuts. Lol. For my entrée I ordered the sea scallops and they were delicious. Perfectly seared and seasoned. It came with a side of sautéed spinach and tomatoes with fresh mozzarella. So tasty! My date ordered the Ahi Salad and he said it was very good. I only wish that I had room for dessert...because I had my eyes on the carrot cake. I was secretly hoping that they would offer a free dessert for my birthday. Oh Well, i'm not complaining. Everything was exceptional from service, ambience, and food. The experience: I had a flawless dining experience at Stoney River and I very rarely give five star reviews. First off the location and the decor of the restaurant is fantastic. It has an upscale feel that is much different from your traditional "old-school" steakhouse which I found refreshing. The staff were all extremely friendly and we had three to four people tend to us at a time so whatever we needed we received in a timely manner. The food: First off this place has a very impressive wine selection of two pages with some very great names on them. Our server made a great suggestion for a wine I hadn't tried yet for dinner; he knew his stuff. I had the prime rib with their signature one pound baked potato and lobster bisque and it was all fantastic. The lobster bisque had some of the largest pieces of lobster I've ever had in it and the prime rib was cooked perfectly. The baked potato was very interesting; it was huge and came fully loaded. The outside of the potato was covered in a generous amount of course salt which made the skins very tasty. Super cool looking decor in the inside. Great size bar area. Dinning area is spacious. However, I didn't like how dark it was inside. It was to dark. But other then that I liked what i saw. The food was good! I has the salmon which tasted great! Seasoned every well. Also, tried the steaks scallops, Halibut and the shrimp. Every tasted great! Prices weren't to bad. An absolute new favorite of mine! My companion and I came in for dinner just before the evening crowd (became super busy within an hour of our arrival). We were greeted warmly at the hostess stand and seated right away. The decor was stunning yet cozy in a modern twist. One of the better looking restaurants around. We quickly ordered an appetizer that was recommended by the wonderful staff (steak eggrolls) which was pleasantly tasty! Complimentary bread and cinnamon butter was great as well. My date and I both went for the lobster bisque as a starter and steak frites with mashed potatoes for our entrees. Which ALL were excellent considering the price and the 5 star experience! I sincerely hope Troy keeps this gem around since there are only 12 other locations nationwide. Although Big Beaver is the last place in the world that needed another steakhouse, we've been interested in trying this place since we saw it being built. Valentine Day seemed like the perfect occasion to try it out. We are generally not fans of fancy white tablecloth steakhouses, so we were pleased to see the casual atmosphere here. One of the things I had noticed on the Yelp reviews was the outstanding service. We saw that in action as soon as we got there. After 40 minutes I was already over the place and wanted to head out. But. I only stayed just to taste the food. Tortilla soup- good Lobster bisque soup- good Center cut steak - absolutely no flavor Cured coffee steak- more flavor and was decent Au gratin potatoes - no flavor. Looked good in pics but wasn't cooked enough and was just boring. Mac n cheese- was whatever. Nothing to brag about. We had about 3 different waiters. It was odd but no big deal. As far as the higher end steakhouses on Big Beaver goes, this ranks as the second best in my opinion just below Capital Grille. It's much nicer than Morton's and better than Ruth's Chris as well. The decor and ambiance are warm and welcoming as well as classy and chic. The staff was very attentive from start to finish and our water glasses were never empty. I had the the Cowboy Ribeye with Caramelized Onion Mashed Potatoes and a side of Mac and Cheese. The steak was cooked exactly to my desired temp and was simply seasoned, but was accompanied with an herb butter that gave it an additional kick. Mac and Cheese wise it was probably one of the best I had. Creamy and cheesy with a slight crunch from the bread crumbs. Bot my wife and our friend had Filets and had zero complaints. The Au Gratin Potatoes looked out of this world and our friend said they tasted even better. All in all I highly recommend checking this place out. Also if you're a whiskey drinker try the Samurai. First, the ambience is very nice and welcoming. The waitress we had this evening was slightly rude and impatient. We had a party of nine and when making the reservation we were not made aware of the "one form of payment for the entire group and there is no way to have the ticket split. These made the dinner complicated because everyone did not have cash, and no one was willing to put the entire bill on their credit card, resulting in a couple of us only ordering appetizers, no drinks or entrees. Secondly, after observing other tables with bread and butter, we wondered if we were suppose it to get it at the table or if it had to be ordered because the waitress never offered it. After waiting around 15 minutes for her to resurface, we finally asked for bread for the table... by that time the groups entrees were coming to table.
