Happened to stop in during Arts, Beats, and Eats with my 6 year old daughter. Although it was a BEAUTIFUL day, the sun was getting to her a lil bit, and she needed to eat while sitting and resting. Upon entering, there was a sign that read to seat yourself, inside or out. There was a full complimentary water station, and I observed many people coming in just to use the restroom. Staff were extremely friendly and service was fast. I've never heard of this establishment before, but I will DEFINITELY be coming back...and will bring friends. Oak City Grille, THANK YOU! Attending large events like this causes anxiety in many different people for many different reasons. Stopping in your establishment made the entire experience more enjoyable...and the truffle fries were amazing as well!

We came to see a musician friend perform and he was great. We also saw a bit of the act that followed him who was also very good, so I suspect they draw a lot of good music acts. I didn't look at the menu before we went - I expected typical bar food, but this was definitely a step above that. My wife and I shared a Caesar salad (huge!) and some soft pretzel sticks - they were yummy and it was more than enough food. Others at the table had tacos, a chicken sandwich and lemon chicken and everyone really enjoyed their food. We'll definitely be back...for the music AND the food!

Work hosted our after conference dinner here. Great place for groups. Live music in evenings. Proficient waitresses and bar staff. For starters we had the Calamari and Crab Cakes which were delicious. I tried the Tennessee old fashioned- not a fan! The Lobster Ravioli And Baked Shrimp was so yummy! I would come back just for this dish!!!

We ate here on a busy Friday night. I think everyone was out looking for a place to eat since it was a beautiful night. We got lucky and spotted an open 2 top and the sign said 'seat yourself', so we did! Our table was right under an overhang, partly in / partly out, so it was perfect. Also great for people watching since we had people strolling by as we ate. I ordered the red trout, my bf got a burger. I loved mine, I asked to substitute a side salad for the rice (which I usually don't like) and they did. My fish was cooked really well and had nice flavors with the lemon and capers. My bf's burger seemed a bit rare to me, he ordered it medium, but it was pretty red inside, so he ate the edges and left the middle. I also had a cucumber collins which was too delicious, requiring me to have a 2nd one. Cucumber vodka, simple syrup, soda, lime, mint and bitters. Yum. I'd say the only thing I struggled with was our seating. The chairs were too far from the table and couldn't be pulled up any closer requiring me to lean over to eat. They are also metal chairs which don't work well with my skinny butt. Service was a bit slow, but I know all the restaurants are struggling, so no knock there.

My review is based off of a ONE OFF EXPERIENCE, so take it with a grain of salt. However, as a taco lover the Southwest Chicken Tacos were awful. They were overly charred so it was all I could taste almost rendering them inedible. Also, the Tostito looking chips just made the whole thing even sillier. Maybe this place is good, but the tacos were NOT GOOD.

Since moving to Royal Oak, this has become my favorite bar! The service is always super friendly, the food is always delicious, and the drinks are great! Some favorites are the flatbread pizzas and the sliced sirloin appetizer. The menu has something for everyone, including vegetarians. Such a gem!!

I was just stopping in for a drink so this review will be short. They had a pub crawl going on and it was difficult to find somewhere to grab a drink. This place came recommended. I was surprised to see live entertainment on a sat at 3:30. But they had a great singer there. It was a nice touch and he was very good. The place was moderately busy. But I was able to sit at the bar. They didn't have a huge variety of beers, but I ordered an IPA. I didn't get any food it was one and done while waiting for friends. I would probably come back.

What we didn't expect was to be completely blown away. From the second we walked in, the bartender greeted us like we were regulars, and that alone sold us on sitting at the bar. Best decision. We're bar sitters through and through, and between the bartender, a friendly regular who scooted over for us, and literally every person we interacted with, the vibe was unmatched. I worked in the service industry in a former life, so I know how rare it is to find a place where everyone is friendly. There's usually at least one Debbie Downer. Not here. No rushing, great recommendations, and zero feeling like you're "that couple" taking up bar space. Drinks and beer selection were solid, but let's talk food because ambiance and service are only half the equation. We started with the coney dog egg rolls and... wow. Epic. Unique. Immediately set the bar high. Then we ordered the fish and chips and the short rib sandwich. The fish was perfectly breaded, the remoulade was on point, and those skinny fries were dangerous. But the star of the show? The short rib sandwich. Holy shit. I don't normally eat onions or horseradish, but somehow this sandwich converted me. The caramelized onions weren't overpowering, the sauce wasn't spicy, and everything just worked. We literally woke up the next morning talking about how we need it again. The bartender filled us in on happy hour and all the food options, and we're already planning our return. Total hidden gem on Woodward. Highly recommend. Thanks for a great Saturday night!

Our server was so kind and helpful with my husband's odd allergy. They made sure he knew exactly what he was eating. Our soup and salad were very delicious, but very small portions. We both had the kids grilled cheese and then shared a browned butter chocolate chip cookie. The setting is cute and a little quirky. It's not very close to home, so I don't think I'll be back. I did enjoy my lunch and I really liked how it was very clear that the food was fresh and homemade.

It was a lovely experience and the food was for the most part very delicious. Service was friendly and good but a tad on the slow side (not our server's fault, they seemed pretty busy and I think she may have been the only waitress working, so she was absolutely juggling a ton). They were out of the "pretty potatoes" which was disappointing because they sounded super delicious. The restaurant is a little dark and when very busy can get a little loud. The three women at the table next to us were having a very loud conversation (of which I picked up every word) and I could barely hear my fiancé, which I didn't love, so the acoustics are a bit odd. That being said, the decor and vibe is very home-y and everyone that works there was very pleasant and lovely, from the hostess to the man that refilled our waters. We got the charcuterie plate (selected two cheeses and two meats; comes accompanied by fig jam, mustard, sardinian crackers, and cornichons), the caesar salad, the short rib, the arctic char, and the olive oil cake for dessert. All of the food was really exceptional and delicious except I found the short rib to be a tad dry. We each ordered a cocktail, I got a spritzer and my fiancé got a seasonal Pimm's cup-type cocktail that used house-made cranberry syrup. They can accommodate gluten free diets easily which is also a plus. Overall, we will absolutely be coming back!I want to try that Wagyu Pastrami Reuben!

It's great for a casual date or a nice meal with friends. We started with the bread board which was alright. I think they described the bread as focaccia, so I was expecting a bread with more of a crunchy crust and the classic dimples on top. However, this bread was fluffy and soft, but it was still very good. I'm not sure if I would get it again since it felt like a bread board I could put together at home. I preferred the bruschetta we got last time. For my entree, I went with the chicken parm which was very good. The chicken was coated well and the sauce was delicious. She was kind, attentive, and professional throughout the meal. Sadly, her service was the only truly positive part of our visit. For my entrée, I ordered the gnocchi with Palameno sauce. The gnocchi itself tasted fresh and was well made; however, the sauce was overwhelmingly garlicky--so much so that it nearly made my eyes water. There was no real depth of flavor beyond the garlic, which made the dish unbalanced and unpleasant. My husband ordered the homemade ravioli stuffed with portobello mushrooms, which was genuinely good and the best dish we had that night. That said, both entrées arrived completely on their own--no sides, no garnish, and not even freshly shaved or grated parmesan offered at the table. We were surprised to learn that everything was à la carte, yet this was not clearly outlined anywhere. Even basic side salads cost $6 for very small portions, and the entrée portions themselves were quite small for the price. We also ordered the $8 bread board, which was honestly baffling. The bread was cold instead of warm and served with low-quality oil, vinegar, and very subpar parmesan (comparable to grocery-store brand), all placed in tiny separate cups with no herbs, seasoning, or explanation. It wasn't mixed or presented in a way that made sense--frankly, we weren't sure what we were supposed to do with it. The calamari appetizer tasted good, but the portion was so small it wasn't shareable, which defeats the purpose of an appetizer. The drinks were awful. My husband's soda tasted flat, and we wondered if the soda gun was dirty. There was virtually no liquor in either cocktail--mine tasted watered down and unpleasant, almost like river water. To make matters worse, the limes were dry and visibly brown. Overall, the entire experience was a 3 out of 10, and that rating is solely due to the excellent service provided by our waitress, Yvette. Unfortunately, between the underwhelming food, confusing and poorly communicated à la carte pricing, very small portions, subpar drinks, and lack of value for the cost, this restaurant did not meet even basic expectations. We will not be returning and cannot recommend D'Amato's to others s this restaurant's food was NOT elevated. For the prices charged, fine-dining restaurants should expect far better quality, execution, and overall dining experience. I have no idea how they stayed in business for over 28 years.
