    Sourdough pancakes

We stopped by on Sunday at 11am for brunch. We made reservations but they weren't needed since there were only two other parties there. The service was friendly and super speedy - we got our food, ate, and paid all within 30 minutes. The inside was pretty spacious with plenty of seating at tables and at the bar. There is also a patio with a few tables out back. The Coeur-ccino was delicious. The sourdough pancakes were good and enormous. The hash was good but was on the fattier side which wasn't our favorite but the flavor of the hash and the potatoes was pretty good. They also offer dinner service and I would love to go back to try it!

The interior looks so different from Assagi, more whimsical. Katie is waiting on us tonight. Ordered the beets, spring greens, maitake mushrooms, octopus, chicken, gnocchi and scallops. $196.10. The course dinner is kept a surprise, required full table participations. The beets are food, comes with a goat cheese filled puff pastry, which was okay. The greens wasn't too bad, the rhubarb vinaigrette is super light. The greens are so dark and healthy looking. The maitake is pretty good, a tad greasy though, which seems to have saturated through the batter some. The mint dip is quite good and has a great touch of the mint flavoring to it, quite different. The octopus is nicely grilled and tender, the char flavor is however all I taste. The Gnocchi was okay, a tad soft for our liking, the morel mushrooms are good. More English peas. My hubby preferred the gnocchi from last week at Pastaio better. The scallops are melt in your mouth good. The sauce is good, the hint of orange flavoring is nice. The chicken wasn't my favorite, guess remoulade isn't for me. The service is really good. The scallops was the best part of my meal.

Fried cauliflower part 1 of my vegan tasting menu adventure

Cute lil plates! Adorable drinks! Attentive service! Expensive... but takes food from beyond something to ingest and turns it into an experience. And really, not that expensive for what it is (we paid about 240$ plus tip for tasting menu for 2 with non alcoholic drinks). We came here to celebrate an anniversary (reservation made in advance, $20 hold put on card) and they accommodated my vegan diet and my husband's omnivorous one swimmingly. So yes, they can make vegan food! Just please let them know when you make that rsvp. Each plate and drink was beautifully presented and introduced, quickly whisked away when we finished. They brought out fresh silverware for each course too. Our waiter, Hunter was charming. The mixologist who brought us our drinks was very knowledgeable and friendly too. Wish I'd caught their name! At the end of the meal they surprised us with printouts of our menus and all the staff signed one to commemorate our special day. Restrooms are single occupancy, gender neutral, and clean. Water is flat or sparkling, your choice. And it never ran out, which says a lot because I drink a lot of water! These folks really pay attention. My favorite dish was the mushroom gnocchi, the gnocchi absolutely melted. My husband called them "little pillows". My second favorite was the sorbet, I'm a sucker for citrus and it was definitely some high quality grapefruit up in there! The cauliflower was perfectly cooked, also melty with the crunch of the fried outer layer balancing it out. And I'm usually not a leek fan, but the way the leek was roasted... superb! Time commitment was under 2 hours, but we were the only ones in the restaurant for the first hour. I imagine it could take longer once things get busy. (Call us old fogies if you want, we rsvpd for 5 pm) I definitely can see returning for special occasions, it was so much fun! Thanks coeur!

Last night Enzo and I went to Couer in Ferndale! We had beef tartare, potato croquettes, bone marrow, tempura fried maitake mushrooms, bread and olives, chicken, scallops, and a french macaron. The scallops were the stand out dish of the night for us. The flavors were incredible and the cook on them was perfect. TBH we liked these flavors more than the scallops at Hell's kitchen. The chicken also didn't disappoint with flavor and was cooked perfectly. Everything else was kind of mid, the tartare, bone marrow, and croquettes were pretty flavorless and could've used some seasoning. The desert did blow us away, it was so big and the flavors were sweet peanutty and salty sweet. It was so cute for the holidays too! Overall, glad we went but probs wouldn't go back. Our bill was $222 for everything.

I'm not used to find dining, I grew up extremely poor, but my boyfriend wanted to go here. We got the tasting menu and if you get that, everyone at the table has to get that. To be honest, I was not a fan of any course. I felt really bad because I tried to like it and I'm sure if you like these foods they're good, it was cuddle, fish, white fish, quail, and mushrooms. I felt like everything had the same aftertaste. It has a very eerie vibe, it feels like the movie The Menu. Our waitress was super sweet though because she could tell I felt sick from the food and gave us a bunch of extra desserts. Service workers were super kind! If you like this kind of stuff, then the food will probably taste good.

    Steak with potato dauphinoise

As somewhat of a Francophile when it comes to food & drink, I'm so excited that this place opened right down the street from me! The decor is simple but nice-looking, the patio is large and comfortable, and the service is friendly. The steak I ordered was perfectly seasoned and cooked, and I also really enjoyed the potato dauphinoise it came with. Their wine selection is thoughtful and not obnoxiously priced -- that is often a bummer at other nice restaurants, with good wine priced in such a way that I'd rather not even bother. We ended up ordering two bottles here, each priced at only slightly over 2x retail price, which feels reasonable. If I'm nitpicking anything, it would be that the regular waitstaff doesn't seem to be well-versed on the wine list, but they do have a very nice sommelier who can help if you need a specific recommendation. Overall, a fantastic first visit. It's not cheap (though not overpriced either), so it'll probably be more of a date night place rather than a regular spot for me, but I'll definitely be back.

What a great addition to downtown Ferndale! This French restaurant opened about a month ago and has a seasonal rotating menu. Our bartender/server Derek was amazing- he was friendly, knowledgeable and seemed excited about the restaurant. Coeur is open for brunch on the weekends and dinner. They have indoor seating as well as a lovely patio with twinkle lights. The interior is decorated very Scandinavian- clean and simple. The large plates were the perfect amount of food but didn't try any of the small plates. They also have their own pastry chef and it seems like they make some really interesting desserts. My friend and I sat at the bar (full food service, except you can't do the tasting menu there). They have an impressive drink menu, with wine, cocktails, beer, mocktails, etc. I ordered the watermelon splash mocktail with lime and cranberry and it was light, tart and served with a big ice cube- very tasty and not too sweet! I ordered the bbq chicken and practically licked the plate clean. The bbq glaze was subtle but paired really nicely with the corn puree, veggies and potatoes. The whole dish was balanced really well with sweet, smoky and salty flavors. I stole a few of my friends French fries and they were really salty and delicious as well. We finished with Choco tacos- really delicate buttery wafers filled with frozen cream (a little lighter than ice cream) and dipped in dark chocolate with pistachio crumbles topped with whipped cream. They were very rich and delicious. I would love to come back and try the tasting menu!

Wanted to love it, unfortunately we didn't. Service just ok - rushed an impatient... "large plates" are pretty skimpy. I'm not a volume eater what so ever, but 3oz of fish for $42 is not acceptable. Photo for reference, that was a teaspoon.

Gluten free, dairy free chocolate cake and ice cream with orange candied almonds
    Rachel K.

The food was delicious, and the service was outstanding. Their accommodation of our dietary restrictions and food allergies went above and beyond. The ambiance was lovely, with gorgeous wood details that tied the walls to the menu. They provided an annotated menu with all of the dairy free options, and the pastry chef Carla had made a special dessert option that was dairy free and gluten free just in case we wanted dessert. It was such a treat because restaurants rarely have dessert options I can eat, and it was also delicious. Will definitely return and recommend!

Amazing evening! Great atmosphere and vibe that was both friendly and helpful. We sat at the bar for a pre dinner cocktail, many fun choices on house & seasonal menus. Bartenders were fun too! Table was a bit small but someone was always around to keep everything cleared so it definitely was enough. We enjoyed the tasting menu with a beautiful Malbec. Sommelier had very interesting explanation of the bottle we chose and it was a treat to chat. Our server was professional and enthusiastic, she clearly enjoyed the food and ensured we did too. Each course was an adventure and the desert looked amazing but tasted better

I decided to check out the bar/lounge at the nearby Sheraton and have to say, no wonder Marriott decided to buy these guys! They have great beers on tap and great food. I had the sliders and the Santorini salad, which has fried artichokes on it. The sliders were great. Straight up beef patties on a brioche-like bun. No filler, slightly thin, but still tastes great and beefy. Just what I wanted. The Santorini salad is about twice as big as I thought it would be for $9. I really liked the greens which included butter, red, iceberg and romaine lettuces. It also had goat cheese, olives and fried artichoke hearts. Yum, but I couldn't finish it. Since I'm at the Res Inn I just took the rest with me. I also had the Blond ales on tap. Their big deal is supposed to be the wine selection, but the beer selection is very good. Perfect for slider night! Full, refreshed and ready for he long plane rides home tomorrow.

The food and service here are really good, and the atmosphere is quiet and relaxing. Located in the lobby of the Sheraton, you almost miss it because it is so quiet. The ambiance is a little dark but not really dark - so perfect for relaxing. There is an unobtrusive TV above the bar for sports enthusiasts, but it is quiet to allow for conversation. The food ranges from quite good to really, really good. The bruschetta is distinct and fantastic. The mixture is served separately from the crustini, ensuring that the bread doesn't get soggy. And it has little pieces of fresh mozzarella in it to add even more freshness! Their fried mozzarella is also quite good, clearly freshly made. A friend had their salad and got blackened salad on it and really enjoyed it. They are happy to customize orders, whether that be food or drink. And they are happy to make drinks extra strong, so that's never a bad thing!

There is a downstairs area (with bar), upstairs area and outdoor seating for when the weather is nicer. We completely lucked out and got the private room upstairs even though we didn't book it specifically. I loved the location being in the historic district, and they did an amazing job with restoring the mill into a cute restaurant. I had scoped everything out ahead of time so had adjusted my expectations for smaller portions and ordered accordingly. Unfortunately they don't have their cocktail menu online and I can't recall the name of what I ordered but it was very good. Everyone in our party was happy with their drinks. For food, we started with the monkey bread (10/10) - outstanding! The Caesar salad was also tasty. I got the mussels, which had really nice flavor and the sausage was a welcome addition - I just wish it had come with an extra toast or 2 for the broth. The smoked sturgeon was interesting - marinated and smoked for hours - you don't find that many places so I had to try, and really enjoyed it but wow the cornbread almost stole the show in that dish. Nobody cared for the pickled vegetables. Burger was a winner and really big actually. Dessert we got an assortment and the fan favorite was the creme brulee. They came and cleared dishes between courses, kept water glasses full, etc. and service was overall pretty top notch. We got lucky that they were able to seat us after a short wait. We were planning on taking seats at the bar (first come). If you want a table, you may want to make reservations. The restaurant is a house, lovely without being pretentious. With low lighting and low nose level, it would be perfect for a date. It has a New England feel, which makes sense as an oyster house, though they offer oysters from both coasts. The service was fantastic, particularly from our server Christina. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and had great timing, not an easy combination. My friend and I split the oyster roll and the fish special. The roll is a small plate, and it is very much appetizer sized, not meal. The fish was perfectly cooked and seasoned. I will note that they are pricy, I thought the cocktail prices were high for outside of the city. But otherwise a wonderful experience.

This is one of those unfortunate instances where I wish I could give a 3.5* rating. Everything was ok, but definitely not great. The place is loud, and way too bright, especially for an intimate experience after 8:30pm or so. We would have loved to stick around for another couple cocktails, if the cocktails and ambience were good, they weren't. The "craft cocktail" ol' fashioned was improperly garnished w/ a whole 1/4 of an orange slice, instead of the peel, it was improperly essenced, and had an improper amount of simple syrup. It was essentially a shot of bourbon with a cherry and an orange peel. Tasted terrible. The drink lacked all of the taste and trappings of the advertised craft "burnt sugar" old fashioned. Additionally, they use a 1/2 of an ice ball, which would not have been offensive, if the rest of the drink was up to par, but as it was, the cocktail seemed cheap and off-putting. 2.0/10 My date ordered a "figgy sweater," a citrusy cocktail with vodka, also off of the "craft cocktails" menu. Her drink had the opposite problem. It tasted like a lemonade with no alcohol at all, or watered down alcohol. She's a fairly lightweight that does not like strong drinks, gets tipsy off of two, and she complained throughout its consumption that the drink seemed weak and not worth ordering another. 2.0/10 We were both interested in another cocktail, but due to the loud nature of the place, the over abundance of light, and the poorly crafted cocktails, we drove to another establishment for our second round. Food ordered: Seafood Chowder - Great job, delicious, ample seafood throughout 9.5/10 Brisket Poutine - Good but it lacked cheese curds and gravy. 7.0/10 Beef tenderloin tips - terrible... the dish came out cold, we ordered the GF option, and the bread substitute was gross. The dish was overly salty, and the beef was way, way over cooked; not even medium well, most of it was well done, and tough; this was $30 wasted, we barely touched it and it's still in the fridge two days later. I'll likely throw it out. 2.0/10 Chicken Fried Lobster - nice dish, I hated the dill, but my date licked it. The dill aside, it was delicious; nice presentation, great tasting waffle, w/ well favored garnishes. However, the dish was barely warm when it came out, the ricotta/cream soaked into the waffle, and it was soggy. If it came out of the kitchen promptly it would have likely been better. 7.0/10 I'd consider ordering the chicken fried waffle again, but bad cocktails will likely keep me away. It's tough to pay $30+ in bad cocktails to accompany a $100+ meal. I'd strongly suggest turning down the lights after 8:30pm or so, and installing some noise canceling/light panels to bring the ceiling height down, quiet the place down some, and make it seem more intimate. The two tables opposite the the kitchen, in the damn hallway to the bathroom, should either be gotten rid of, made into high-tops, or install a lower counter-service along that wall for a "chef's experience." Those tables absolutely suck. We sat at them at our first visit, they tried to sit us there for our 2nd visit, but moved us after our objection. I laughed a bit throughout our meal as the people that were subsequently seated at those tables complained during their meal of the constant bumps, and interruptions that come with the territory. Finally, our waitress did a great job. The food runner was late on a couple of our dishes, resulting in cold food, but the waitress' service seemed great.
