First visit to Red Hook, and we had such a delightful time! We didn't try any food this time, but it looked delicious. The service was fast and the people working were so nice! It was pretty busy when we went, but the ambiance was inviting and warm. Would definitely come back again!

Small cafe in Ferndale. I had coffee and a piece of ginger-maple bread (not sure of the actual name). The coffee was very good. The bread was good,as well. A little on the sweet side. The shop had the usual variety of coffee and coffee drinks along with various baked goods. The baked goods looks "fresh made", and some uncommon baked items, like some sort of giant baked rice Krispy thingy. Service was friendly and fast. There is seating inside and outside. Most of the table are for 2 people.

Gotta check out a local chain! There's parking in the lot in the back. You can access the cafe from the front or back of the building. Lots of pastries here! Including vegan options too! I got a cortado with lavender. For some reason it was decent but not my fave. I do want to try a different flavor. Cute place! Not large. No seating inside for now. Lots of plants in there that are thriving! They've got large windows in the front that allow lots of light in.

Although it was warm for a January, it was still a cold morning when a friend and I met up for coffee. Restaurants were still closed for COVID so we checked out the display of pastries and baked goods placed temporarily at the front of the café and placed our order at the takeout window. The line was short and it moved very quickly. With our goodies, we made our way to a nearby bench to catch up with each other while trying to stay warm. Since COVID cases were still increasing, I decided to leave my mask on and eat only when I returned home. It was a good decision since I was able to pop the goodies into the oven for a quick warm up. I had selected the egg biscuit and bacon/cheddar popover for breakfast and a galette for another day. In addition to those items, there were scones, cakes, cookies, and macarons available. I think I saw a cinnamon roll, as well; I am still surprised that I resisted. The egg biscuit was spectacular. That is the only word to describe the tasty, tender and flaky biscuit with the delicious egg topped with a slice of melted white cheddar. The sandwich was so thick I nibbled around it. I am so haunted by how good it was. And even now, several days later, I am still thinking of it. The popover was different from what I expected. Instead of something similar to Yorkshire pudding, this was comparable to a Red Lobster biscuit, but with a soft center, topped with cheddar and bacon. It was small but good. The galette was okay. Filled with mushrooms, sliced small potatoes, and sunflower seeds, it was a flaky, creative lunch treat. I will definitely return - probably earlier than I typically would, especially given the distance from home.

Cute little coffee shop in downtown Ferndale. I had the iced chai tea latte and it was very refreshing. My husband ordered golden milk (mainly because he was intrigued with the name).. he said it was interesting but not sure if he'd get it again.. apparently it had turmeric spice and fresh ground pepper in it? The latte art was beautiful though!

I came here for the first time a couple weeks ago and it won't be my last. I got a brewed coffee and an apple scone. The scone was perfectly baked and not too sweet. Eager to try their other baked goods.

Got an immunity shot (Drought), spearmint tea and a lavender latte. The immunity shot from Drought is intense and potent. Felt a boost of energy from it. It burns a little at the back of the gulp. The spearmint smells nicely and effervescent even though it's just a teabag. The lavender latte doesn't have a strong lavender scent to it, tastes okay. Total $12.23.

There is no Splenda but the brown sugar is good. I hada latte that was good . The Galette was delightful! I ate it so fast i couldn't even take a pic. It's so cute in the inside and lgbtqia+ friendly. The service was fast and friendly. I would go again.

Lemon cake, iced coffee, mocha and banana chocolate malt scone.

Decided to try this place out based on the other reviews. It's a cute, cozy and comfy place. Daughter asked for an iced coffee and lemon cake and enjoyed her choices. Said the cake was very sweet. I opted for a mocha with skim milk and a banana chocolate malt scone. I love scones and this one had a great flavor and was not dry like some can be.

This is closer to a 3.5 star review instead of a straight 3 star review. I came in here for a drink after brunch but prior to going to the AR Workshop. They are a closer to a traditional coffee shop rather then a Starbucks/Coffee Beanery/etc. So if you are going into here looking for name brand type of drinks, this is not the place. They have both regular milk and non cow's based milk which is nice especially if you don't normally drink a lot of cow's milk. I had a hot chocolate with almond milk which was decent but not great. It was not super hot which was on a cold day is what I was looking for. The cool thing about here was that there were gluten free food. I did not try the brownie to know if it was good. I also had the feeling based on how the food was setup, the food changes by the day. It would be interesting to see. I will probably be back given the lack of the "box" coffee drink places in the heart of Ferndale.

It has been a few years since I last came here, and things were surely different. The lobby is now closed off to customers and Red Hook introduced a walk up window in place of their lobby. Part of the whole experience of Red Hook that I really enjoyed was being able to go in and get that freshly baked desserts blended with coffee aroma. There are still a few tables out front on the sidewalk, but this coffee shop is always busy so getting a table will require perfect timing (or good luck). It will be nice to see their lobby be open once again, and hopefully it will be soon.

I finally got to try Toast in Ferndale for brunch!…read more The parking situation is a small lot behind the back and finding a spot on a weekend morning wasn't easy! We didn't have reservations so we did have to wait a while for a table. But, Toast made it manageable with an outdoor waiting area where you can order drinks from the bar. By the way, the outdoor area is not fully insulated, just sectioned off with clear tarp, so it can still feel a little chilly. However, it was nice having somewhere sit and mingle instead of just standing around by the door. Now to the good part: My table ordered the trashy hashy, toast egg sammy, and a muddled strawberry vanilla iced matcha. I started off with the iced matcha and ended with the egg sammy with a side of parmesan grits. The matcha was a little watery but good. The sandwich was super flavorful but very messy. I had to ask for extra napkins after but the mess was totally worth the flavor! I can't wait to come back! I'll be prepared with reservations next time!

They get pretty crowded on weekends, but we were seated right away for our weekday brunch. The service was always great, and the waiters were very amicable. I really loved our waiters both times we were here. I got a strawberry cheesecake waffle today which was excellent. The cream cheese with the whipped cream, graham cracker dust, and fresh strawberries made for a very decadent breakfast meal that was surprisingly not as heavy as it looked, though I would not say it was light. I didn't use the syrup, but I could see how some people might want it for an extra dose of sugar. The waffles were nice and crisp, and I would definitely order this again if I'm in the mood for a sweet treat. Overall, this is a nice family friendly spot if you're in town!

I used to live nearby about 25 years ago and remember coming to a diner in this area for breakfast back then. Fast forward to today--this isn't the same place, but wow, it's absolutely amazing. Right away I loved the vibe. The chalkboards with handwritten menu items and daily specials on the walls give the place so much character and charm. It feels welcoming, classic, and cool all at the same time. The customer service was excellent from start to finish--friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. I ordered the country breakfast, which came with biscuits and gravy, eggs, toast, potatoes, and sausage--everything was spot on. I'm usually not a big hash browns person, so I really appreciated that they offer an alternative to the shredded style. I went with the cubed breakfast potatoes (not sure what they officially call them), and they were so much better--crispy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. Between the food, the service, and the overall atmosphere, this place completely won me over. I already know I'll be back next weekend. Oak Diner has a really, really good vibe, and I'm glad I rediscovered breakfast here. Highly recommend.

In fact, several of my friends traveled to the area specifically to visit Public House. Sadly, the menu has changed and there are no only three items on the menu for Vegans. The items are the Strawberry Shortcake, which was a prior favorite, but has been reduced in its appeal by the omission of the vegan cream that topped it off and the other items are a Burrito Bowl, which is available anywhere you go through the addition and deduction of conventional food items, and the Chik n waffle. This reduced menu of three items compared to the 24 + conventional items on the menu is extremely disappointing. Service wise the greeting at the front door was very slow when there was only one other patron in front of us. It literally took 10 minutes to be greeted and the restaurant was not full compared to its previous more appealing times for Vegans where you really did have to wait. The staff was over all very friendly and accommodating. You couldn't ask for a nice group of people. And the diversity of the team is amazing....it is noticed and valued! The strawberry shortcake without the whip cream is good but the vegan whipped cream makes a difference and was notably missing. The Bloody Mary was pretty good. No rushing, great recommendations, and zero feeling like you're "that couple" taking up bar space. Drinks and beer selection were solid, but let's talk food because ambiance and service are only half the equation. We started with the coney dog egg rolls and... wow. Epic. Unique. But the star of the show? The short rib sandwich. Holy shit. I don't normally eat onions or horseradish, but somehow this sandwich converted me. The caramelized onions weren't overpowering, the sauce wasn't spicy, and everything just worked. We literally woke up the next morning talking about how we need it again.
