Today I didn't know what I wanted but had a general idea, and he made a pretty good drink which consisted of iced coffee with a little bit of milk, a little bit of cold foam, and a little bit of vanilla syrup. It's been here about 9 months. Looks quite sterile in here. Gilded with gold accents. Ordered a cookie butter latte with oat milk ($0.75) and a spicy mango lemonade less the spice refresher. $15.64 The table we are seated at is wobbly. The cookie butter latte tastes like Bischoff cookie. The flooring looks rough in here. May need something more durable, gives it a run down look with the white and gold. Funny how you notice random things when your order falls short of what you expect. The refresher is so-so, tastes like mango syrup. Two odd little red stemmed items at the bottom of my drink, along with some white chunk of something too. Quite off-putting. Need darker to go containers, so you can't see all of the strange items in it. The staffer went to the back, had to wait for new costumers come for him to come back out. He mentioned the red stringy stuff is likely from a fruit puree he adds to the drink. There are still a couple of mis-placed colored floaties in the second attempt. No point in fixing what isn't possible. Second one still tastes like syrup. Their bathroom is out of order. Good thing it's most a gram and go and neither of us has to go at all. This place is so underrated, it's crazy. Never that busy, so a good place to work out of, and while the lattes are a bit pricey (but I guess that's true everywhere now), they're SO good. The vanilla date latte is probably my all time favorite in the metro Detroit area, I literally went back the next day to get it again. If you're in Troy, this is the top spot to go get a coffee, absolutely does not miss. read more

This place is so beyond wonderful, it's truly a local gem that I can't sing enough praises for. As someone who enjoys "fun" coffee drinks like flavored lattes, this place spoils you with their house-made syrups. When so many other coffee shops use synthetic-tasting Torani syrups, this shop's owner (who is such a great guy, btw) is cranking out the most delicious syrups himself! There was one occasion a very small and understandable mistake was made on a drink I ordered, and without a moment of hesitation he offered to entirely remake the drink and had it ready for me in mere seconds. I've tried so much of their menu - their flavored iced lattes are my personal fav - and have yet to have something that I wouldn't excitedly order again. I seriously can't sing this place's praises enough; if I go a week without Utopia? It's a bad week. We stopped into Utopia for some coffee before going shopping. There was only one person working there and he was very nice and careful with brewing us our drinks. I ordered a chai latte and cookie butter latte. There was nice aftertaste of biscoff in the cookie butter latte. It was unique! The chai latte was one of the best I've had in a long time and had the right amount of sweetness without having an overpowering taste of cinnamon. Definitely my fave! They have an elegant ambiance and modern seating pairing in golds and whites throughout the cafe and having real plants included in their decor. 3.5! Honestly one of the best tasting lattes I've ever had but I decided to round down. I ordered the utopia latte with oat milk and brown sugar cold foam and it was $9.12!!!!!! I don't think I've ever paid that much for an iced latte. The syrup in the latte wasn't mixed well so I had to give it a nice big stir, which unfortunately mixed in my cold foam as well. I rounded down simply because if you're charging this much you should really stir the drink so I don't have to, ruining my cold foam! The inside was nice and clean, the music was a tad loud but the barista was very nice! I would probably go back because it was very good but not often, only for a special occasion warranting a $9+ coffee. read more

Sadly, Sweetwaters is gone, but at least it's been replaced with another coffee shop. My friend and I stopped by Utopia Coffee yesterday evening to get some light writing done. Despite the small space with only a few tables, we were able to snag an empty one upon arrival. UTOPIA LATTE - 7 This specialty latte, sweetened and spiced with brown sugar syrup and cinnamon, was recommended by the barista since I didn't want something too sweet. The cinnamon flavor definitely shined through in this drink, but overall, the drink was a bit underwhelming. Given the quality of the drink, it didn't justify the cost. The interior feature bright white walls with gold ascents, flashy but minimal. While it doesn't have the coziest vibe, I like that they open late (typically closes at 10 PM), which is rare for most spots in this area. read more

Was very excited when this place opened. It has a modern yet cozy atmosphere. The service was friendly. They weren't serving any pastries/desserts the few times I went, except for some plain croissants. The sugar cookie latte was tasty but very sweet. My husband and I came here two days in a row on our three day trip to Michigan. The service is unmatched. Not only do they make your coffee, but they also check in with you to make sure you like what you got! The first day, I ordered a Utopia latte, which is basically a brown sugar shaken espresso with cold foam. ALL of their syrups are made in house. Sometimes I'm not the biggest fan of a shaken espresso as it's sometimes too roasty for me, but this one was perfect. Some of the best coffee I've ever had. My husband really enjoyed the drink he got the first day, too, but I can't remember what he got. Before heading back to Ohio, we stopped for a second time. I got the bananas foster latte with cold foam, and I was a bit hesitant to try a banana coffee. It was the best latte I've ever had in my life. The house made syrup really elevates the drink. My husband got the toasted coconut latte and he fell in love. He usually opts for plain drinks, but he's obsessed with their syrups as well. I really wish they had a location in Ohio, because they'd be taking all of our money. read more

I visited Utopia the week they opened and had a pretty good experience. It's got a very minimalist aesthetic, which is nice considering it's a grab and go spot. They do have a few tables, but i wouldn't add this to my list of places to hang after work hours because space is fairly limited. I've been here twice and will probably be back, never disappointed! It's a bit expensive and I wish there were bigger sizes but it's not more expensive than Starbucks for example and I'm more willing to buy a coffee from here because of the unique flavors and high quality.
