Tried a premium matcha café in Troy and got an iced matcha with sea cream ice cream on top, so good! The blue color was fun, and the ice cream reminded me of sea foam on boba: light, creamy, and slightly salty. It added a rich touch to the matcha. I prefer the regular iced matcha over a latte, especially with the ice cream. There was some construction outside, but the inside was super cute. We had to see what all the fuss was about! We were having dinner nearby and drove over to the cafe. We got there just in time because after we got there, there was a line out the door. I can see why it's so popular though, such creative combinations like tiramisu matcha, crème brûlée, and more! There's also soft serve ice cream and host of other sweet treats. this this is a cute chic Matcha ice cream location. Definitely love the ambience inside whenever I have come it has been busy. The service is fairly quick. Or all a decent location I have gotten premium Matcha ice cream from another state before I hate to compare this place to that but for me personally the Matcha ice cream falls a little short as compared to another location called Kyoto matcha in MD. I am a huge matcha lover and so happy to see my favorite matcha ice cream shop here in Michigan. If you love sweet matcha dessert, you gotta try the Maiko special in matcha flavor. I think you can also mix the ice cream flavors in one cup. The staff here is very friendly and they let me try out the ice cream flavor before I decide. Their ube soft serve is good too. Came back to see the renovated place and read a Google review that the place lost its uniqueness and I would agree. I was sad to see the chalkboard wall and big mirror near the bathroom was gone as mentioned in my first review. The place looks just like every other aesthetic coffee place now but the quality of everything is still the same. Hence all the matcha lovers are back, but that made the place busier and the area did not get bigger so all the seats were taken. Some bigger groups pulled chairs from the tables. I tried hojicha for the first time particularly the Oreo Hojicha Frappe. Similar to matcha it definitely has an acquired taste because I liked it but my friend did not. The staff are very friendly and the line reaches the door! Ordered the vanilla matcha soft serve and the matcha soft serve on its own is quite bitter and tastes exactly like your except of plain matcha but having it mixed with Vanilla/another flavor like ube is key because it helps make it taste so good! The combo made it a 10/10! Also got the strawberry matcha which was amazing the strawberry was sweet but didn't taste artificial at all and the matcha was perfectly green and balanced. I have been wanting to try this place! In a nondescript strip mall, it is super cute inside. Went on Sunday afternoon and place was PACKED so it was a little loud. But we snagged more secluded two comfy chairs with cute wood table in back corner which was quieter than front. There were also a few tables outside. Excellent service. Ordered at cashier counter and he answered all our questions about menu and ingredients as well as made suggestions. We chose an iced latte and matcha soft serve. Surprised to find a Matcha Cafe Maiko in Troy honestly, so it was a must visit for me while on a work trip. I decided I wanted the Maiko Special with the Hokkaido Vanilla and Matcha swirl, but the machine for the vanilla stopped working. So while I couldn't swirl the Ube with Matcha, they layered it and it was delicious. It's was huge for a medium size and it was layered with jelly, red bean, matcha cake, corn flakes and a macaron and rice balls. The only complaint I had was that the rice balls were super hard and didn't have the soft chewy gooey texture I have come to expect. read more

Asked for the lavender matcha as I love the Starbucks one . They didn't have it so I got strawberry and let me tell you -it was out of this world. The inside is actually really earthy and I like the vibe with brown woody decor and green plants. It was busy when I walked in and the man taking my order was friendly and working hard. After a while of not coming here due to the renovations, I finally got a chance to go and see how it looks. It lost a bit of its charm but the people are still nice and friendly. It took a bit to find my way around the new menu on the wall, but the one item that caught my attention was the Matcha Banana Pudding Latte. It's a standard Matcha Latte with a Banana creme on top. As a certified ube girly, I had to come try this place. I got the ube-taro soft serve in a waffle cone, and three ube taiyaki. My husband got a hojicha frappe, and after he had a taste of my ice cream, he wanted his own. He got half ube, half matcha layered in a cup. The taiyaki was delicious and the ube filling was perfect! At first, I didn't think there was enough filling, but it ended up being the perfect ratio. The service was fast and they were all very friendly. The baristas are very friendly and attentive. I only have tried one drink from this place but it was so great, so i'd assume that there other ones would be good as well. As well, they are open during construction in the plaza. My only complaint would be that I wish there were more dairy free options for some of their drinks like the banana matcha and the macaroons but I understand that they can't cater to everyone. Not a stranger to Matcha Cafe Maiko-- I've tried their Las Vegas, San Francisco, Irvine, and Rowland Heights locations, so you could say I'm a fan! This place offers great quality matcha ice cream. I happened to be visiting and wanted an Asian dessert, so I stopped by. I like getting their matcha parfait, which has warabi mochi. (Hojicha is my favorite flavor, but it tends to have a strong caffeine flavor.) Would recommend, especially for those who aren't familiar with matcha. I've been to a couple of Premium Matcha Cafe Maiko locations throughout the US and have found them to be pretty consistent in quality. Their ice cream is always delicious and this location is no different. On our last visit over the weekend, we got: Cup, Matcha and Thai Tea ($5.50) - We originally wanted the Ube-Taro and Thai Tea swirl, but their Ube-Taro dispenser wasn't working. Instead, we got the Thai Tea with Matcha on top. The Matcha flavor is fantastic, very dense grassy, slightly bitter matcha flavor with a nice sweetness. The Thai Tea, which is their current seasonal flavor, has a rich roasted, smoky flavor almost reminiscent of wok hei. The ice cream in general is rich and decadent, with a thickness and density more akin to a good frozen custard than the typical light and airy soft serve. We came here right when they were receiving an delivery of dairy products. Let's just say, they use a lot of milk and surprisingly cream cheese. No wonder why the ice cream is so rich! Premium Matcha Cafe Maiko is pretty far away from us, but we usually drop in whenever we are up in Troy. I definitely recommend it, at least for the ice cream! read more

I don't know how they do it, but it is hands down the best matcha. Matcha tea, Matcha latte, Matcha ice cream. Can combine these if you desire. Not overtly sweet. I strongly suggest you combine ice cream and tea to make a float. Next time we will get a larger size, it was that good. Service was mediocre. The soft serve here is not too sweet, and I love that you can sample the flavors before committing to one. Have been going to cafe maiko since before the renovations. A local favorite spot for high school kids to young adults to hang out with their friends. Can't speak for the Matcha, but I enjoy their taiyaki and ube taro soft serve (though I wouldn't call it extraordinary you know?). Down side is that there's not that much seating and other than change the aesthetics, the renovation they were closed for didn't seem to add any additional seating space. I paid $6.50 for a soft serve which seems a little expensive, but the serving size was pretty good for the price and it's a specialty flavor. One piece of feedback I'd have for them is for them to stay open later on the weekends if they can as I think even more people would come. Otherwise, solid place to chill and I'm always down to go here if it's suggested to me! read more
