We stopped by Yates on a thursday afternoon (4:30). There was a little traffic at the roundabout but once we got in, there was a ton of parking. I parked at the way front. I met up with my mom and sisters and niece. We found a cute picnic table and we did not see bees at that table. It was in the shade and fairly big. We ordered some cinnamon sugar donuts and cider. The donuts were hot and fresh. They were delicious. The cider was sweet and perfect. My sisters got iced cider and they said it was good too. My kids absolutely loved them. Afterwards we walked on the trail. I suggest sneakers because there is sand and my feet did get dirty. We stopped by the animals after and fed them. The kids had a blast.

The best!

I have been visiting Yates for DECADES and It's one of my favorite fall destinations to date! I remember coming here as a little girl and swimming in the lakes, and even now as an adult who lives out of state I always try to make this a stop if I'm visiting my family! The fresh donuts are fresh, warm and delicious! Get more than you want, because you WILL want another one. The cider is really good and it's lovely that you can get a hot one, especially for the cooler days. There is a dirt trail about a mile long you can walk through. It's an easy, flat trek, beautiful in the fall, and you can go down to the water from multiple points. There's lots of people fishing in the lake, too. There's plenty of parking on either side of the street, each have their own lot. It's free, too. The staff has been great whenever I visit, and now they have a petting zoo and some small gift shops. It's gotten so much busier than I remember it being and that makes me so happy. A true gem, and I hope their business stays successful. Looking forwardto my next trip to Yates!

Yates Cider Mill is a long time Metro Detroit family favorite cider mill. In the fall, it's one of the biggest weekend attractions plagued with traffic but worth it due to their delicious donuts, tasty apple cider, baked goods, food trucks, river walk, petting zoo, and seasonal activities like pony rides, fudge, and tents of apples, gourds, and pumpkins for sale. Something for everyone! But in the summer time, the crowds disperse and the ice cream rolls in! I'm especially fond of the Yates Donut Sundae and Apple Crisp A La Mode. Yates is more than just a cider mill--it's a perfect spot for a relaxing afternoon. Whether you're picking up a dozen doughnuts or sipping cider by the water, the experience is always memorable. A must-visit for anyone in the area!

Visited roughly mid-end of October 2025--the weather this year was pretty unpredictable---so when we saw a window we took it ---I'm not missing out on the apple crust icecream even if I had to uber there ---my friend got cinnamon donuts---service is good--I mean they did the best they could w the influx of impatient moms and kids---& limited staff since it's seasonal gig n not something ppl are knocking down the door to gain---ambiance was a mix of timing & good luck--

We had such a fun time at Yates! There's so much for kids to do. The petting zoo and feeding the animals, pony/horseback rides, face painting, and plenty more to keep them busy. The donuts and cider were delicious as always, and they also offer other food and snacks, which is really convenient. Great place for families, especially on a nice day!

Stopped by here while in the area at the recommendation of some locals we were visiting. What a great little place with delicious food (e.g. fudge, donuts, cider, hot dogs, etc.), a petting zoo, gifts to purchase and some nice trails to walk along. We had a nice relaxing visit among a lot of families and couples of all ages. Definitely something to check out if you are in the area.

Am sitting here today, and it is the offseason. The cider mill will not open for a few months, but the ice cream / snack shop is open. This is such a nice setting next to the river. Very peaceful.

Yates is a great cider mill! There's something there for everyone. My family visited to get hot donuts and cider. For those of us who like to walk there is a beautiful trail. For those who want food they offer food trucks. For those who like fudge there's a spot for that and there are also live animals for the kids. Even when there's a big crowd, there's enough space that you don't feel like a sardine in a can. They have their own lot and surrounding lights for the overflow of any weekend. Their lines move fast and they offer great service.

Yates is my favorite cider mill in the Metro Detroit area. I love that there's a quick trail if you wanna walk down there with your warm cider and you can really take all the nature. Their donuts are soft and moist and obviously you need the ones coated in cinnamon sugar. I've also gotten their apple pies and the apples are nice and tender, but still have a good bite to them and the dough isn't heavy so it's just a great experience all around.

We live close by so we have visited many times over the years, the donut sundae is my absolute favorite! Also a great place to take a stroll by the River.

A fall staple! I find myself coming here at least once a year as soon as the leaves start to turn. I came on a Tuesday evening right after work (around 6pm) and it was not busy at all. There's definitely been times where I had to wait in line for a bit but service is very quick and friendly and the donuts and other sweet treats are definitely worth the wait. There's plenty of seating down by the water (it gets a little cold so bring a jacket!) and a nice walking path to take a little stroll with your goodies. Also fresh apples at the apple tent and a petting zoo with goats for the kiddos and they usually have a food truck posted nearby!

Before we headed back to Houston, we had the pleasure of visiting my stepdad's old stomping grounds. He insisted we try the apple cider, which of course we did--along with a bunch of other things. We tasted the apple cider, frozen apple cider, apple crisp, and bread pudding. We definitely overdosed on sweets. I couldn't help but ask him, "Have you always been this obsessed with apple cider?" He laughed and said, "No, I got addicted after I started coming here." I could totally see why. Everything we ordered was a hit. It was so cool to know everything was made right there, and let me just say--the bread pudding was phenomenal (I'm a bread pudding connoisseur, by the way). As we enjoyed our treats, we watched the river flow, ducks swimming, little hedgehogs running around, and even spotted some goats, which was super cool. It's definitely a family-friendly place, and I highly recommend it. I'd come here again for sure!

Went with a friend on a very busy Saturday and the weather was perfect, but despite that, the line to get cider and donuts moved steadily and the workers were quick. I haven't been to many cider mills but this was the best donuts and cider I've had thus far. The donuts were so fresh, crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. The cider was also yummy and sweet. There was a specific photo-op place which was cute but I wish there were more designated/decorated areas to take photos. The petting zoo is small and cute. My friend had the street corn for the first time and she really liked it. The scenery is so beautiful and everything is within one area which is convenient.

Apple cider here we come!

Ask the Community - Yates Cider Mill

Does Yates accept Apple Pay?

Do they have bathrooms or is it just Port-A-Potties?

Port a potties

Is there any activities for the kids like jump, slide or swing?

Not really. There is a stream and kids like to toss stones in it but that's all I saw during my last visit.

Are they dog friendly?

I have many folks with dogs strolling around. However one must always have the dog on a leash. There is I think also a sign posted also to that effect

Do they have hard cider or any other sort of alcohol?

Not at Yates. Blake's in Armada does.

However, during our most recent visit, we noticed quite a few changes from previous years, and unfortunately, not all for the better. They no longer have the scenic hayride that used to include a free donut and a cup of apple cider with your ticket purchase. Now, it's $5 per person, and instead of a peaceful scenic ride, it stops at every station and they no longer give you a donut & cider with ticket purchase. When we asked about the change, we were told it was because they weren't making money off the old setup. I understand businesses need to adjust, but it really took away from the experience. That scenic ride with the cider and donut was always one of the highlights for us ; something we truly looked forward to every year. They did add more bouncy houses for the kids, which is nice, but the ones they had before were just as fun. The food was about the same, decent, but nothing special. It was noticeably more expensive this year. $5 for a single ear of corn felt excessive. On the positive side, the cinnamon donuts are still amazing, and the apple cider is as delicious as ever. I also enjoyed the wine tasting, which is always fun, though seating is still limited and could be improved. Overall, the visit just didn't have the same charm or warmth as before. We still had an okay time, but it didn't feel as memorable as past years. Sadly, I think this might be our last year visiting, we'll probably look for a new orchard next fall.
