Honestly, I have never really met a donut that I did not like. That said, some rise above the rest (ha ha). These donuts are heavenly. They are light, fluffy, and not the least bit greasy. They bake them fresh throughout the day and they had a great variety when I visited the shop. The owners (?) were working and they could not have been nicer. Just really lovely people. Also...do not sleep on the Vietnamese iced coffee here. read more

This is a true hidden gem. Went there for the first time after seeing a Facebook post. OMG the donuts are delicious. The quality is ao good I had them in the fridge overnight and my family devoured them the next day. They said the taste just as fresh as the day before. The service was top notch. The cashier was very patient with me naming the flavors and pricing. Will definitely be back. If you're ever in the area definitely stop buy. You won't regret it. read more

I decided to try out this place again since it looks like it's under new ownership, recently? I did come here several years ago and got a variety of donuts. The usual custard with the chocolate frosted top. Almost want try, now that they offer paczki, while available. The first attempt to get donuts was to get some paczki for Fat Tuesday a few months ago, but the box of dozen wasn't much of a savings than buying them individually. Was only $2 save for a box of dozen. Individual paczki $3.50, a dozen for $40. :/ Today I decided to grab a half dozen for our staff at the store. I got a glazed donut, apple fritters, custard with chocolate frosting, cinnamon roll, red velvet and a sour cream donut. Half dozen was $12, that's $2 a donut. Oh my. The apple fritter and the cinnamon roll donuts are rather big, that usually worries me, big donuts doesn't always mean it's better. The apple fritter was crunchy and textured, not mock apples and a lot of dough bumps, which isn't a bad thing. The cinnamon roll was big and billowy, got a big of the cinnamon flavor in the bullseye, but not much hint through the rest of the donut. The sour cream donut wasn't bad, it's not as sour cream or buttermilk flavored as I was hoping. The red velvet and glazed were decent. The custard chocolate was disappointing to me, the custard wasn't as good as I had hoped at all and rather sparse too. All of the donuts are light and fluffy as far as the dough, it's not bad. read more

I got my donuts hand delivered via air. We got our bear claw and cinnamon roll late at night. I was surprised by how fresh they still were! Bear claw has an apple filling (so nutritious) and is my dad's favorite. We were surprised by how big the cinnamon roll was! And even though it was big, it was still pretty moist and fresh inside. I like that these donuts are not saccharine like Krispy Kreme donuts. Good old fashioned donuts that are delicious and always a treat. If I had to give a ding, it would be that I expected a pink box. But the logo is really cute and I'm looking forward to trying out more from this shop. read more

Please view our two photos. Our experience with Main Donut was truly outstanding. We shopped around for the best donuts for our son's graduation party. The friendly service was incredible. They had 10 dozen donuts prepped and ready to go on time as promised. The donuts were so good that they made a friend wreck his diet (he had 4). We stopped in on Sunday, and I told my 2 year old to pick the donut she wanted. She was being an indecisive toddler, but finally picked one. They were advertising well in advance that they were going to be out of town for a family wedding this weekend and for someone to come in and throw up a one star review because of that is childish. I stopped by to grab a quick snack while on my way to DTW and man the donuts are good! The whole shop was very clean and all the donuts are made fresh daily. Decided to try out this donut shop when my wife was craving donuts during her pregnancy, and I have to say that they did not disappoint. I am a huge ham and cheese croissant fan, and this is by far one of the best that I have ever tasted. And my wife also really enjoyed the fluffiness of their donuts especially the chocolate bars. Not only were their donuts excellent but the customer service was even better. I had a chance to talk to the new owners and they get bonus points for not only being fellow Pokémon nerds but also for being open to feedback and new ideas. The only mistake I made was following them on instagram, because now I will have to come back to try one of their new donuts, especially the S'Mores donut. read more

I called to order 3 dozen donuts to take to the hospital where my husband had been for over 2 weeks. We wanted to thank the staff with a treat and I picked the right spot! The donuts were arranged beautifully in a box with a variety of flavors. I ate a cinnamon roll. It was the best that I have ever had! The staff at the hospital were also truly enjoying them. You will never have a better or fresher donut than here! We've probably been every day of the week, typically between 6-9am. It's always been delicious, and the owners are always super friendly and kind. The parking lot is small but it's never been a problem with the times we have gone. Normally my husband will pick up a couple donuts during a weekday, but it's always a special treat if you go on a weekend when they have their seasonal specials. The pumpkin cheesecake donut is amazing! This place is the best donut shop around, don't sleep on it. read more

I work at the gym across the street and we all LOVE main donut shop. I love that it's a small family-run business and they are all always so sweet. Their creme brûlée donut is life changing and the cinnamon sugar donut is the perfect amount of crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. I also appreciate the level of communication through social media as well when they're sold out or closed for special occasions. Hands down the best donuts around - and anyone petty enough to leave a bad review because this wonderful family took a well-earned weekend off, doesn't deserve this level of donut anyways. Patty... I wish I could give this place a million stars. These donuts are fantastic and I loved their unique flavors too. My favorite is their strawberry frosted donut. It has a much more powerful strawberry flavor in the best way. I placed an order for pickup on Thanksgiving and it couldn't have been more easy. They even were willing to make some football shaped donuts and answered all of my questions for allergy reasons. I'm so happy to have this place nearby! read more

Cinnamon rolls here are fantastic. Also recommend the blueberry cake and plain glazed. They do more "creative" donuts too like a fruit pebbles one last week that was phenomenal. Meet the Business Owner: Alexander K.

My family has a long history of creating delicious donuts across the country. After moving to Royal Oak and Michigan in general, I noticed I really started to enjoy my time here. I knew I wanted to establish my self here and help the community, so I felt like opening a donut shop and sharing my roots would be a perfect fit! We are a family run business, with over 30 years of experience! My parents have had donut shops in California since the 1980s. However one thing led to another and now they came out of retirement to help my wife and I, open shop! So this a 2 generation run shop!

I've been a regular here for a while, and I want to start by saying this place has some of the best donuts in the area--fresh, simple, and very reasonably priced. It's been my go-to over bigger chains, not just because of the quality, but because of the experience. When the current family took over, they really made this place feel special. They were always incredibly friendly and welcoming, remembered regulars, and added little touches that went a long way--like occasionally throwing in a few donut holes or just taking a moment to connect. That kind of atmosphere is a big part of why I kept coming back. I stopped in this morning (Father's Day) and noticed a bit of a different experience. The donuts were still great, but the interaction felt more transactional than I've come to expect. The staff seemed newer, which is totally understandable, but there wasn't the same level of engagement or friendliness that really set this place apart before. Even something as simple as acknowledging the holiday would have gone a long way. I also noticed the themed Father's Day donuts were priced about $1 higher than a regular donut. I completely understand charging a little extra for specialty items, especially on a holiday--but for me personally, that felt a bit steep for what was essentially a standard donut with light decoration. I would have happily paid a smaller upcharge, but at that price it just didn't feel like the value matched. I'm sharing this because I genuinely like this place and want to see it continue to succeed. The donuts themselves are great, but what really made this shop stand out was the warmth and personal touch. I also ordered a custard shake. I had her mix the peanut butter and chocolate, because, why not. I tried the mini donuts hot off the conveyor. They were slightly crunchy, melt in your mouth and the most perfect size bite you could ever ask for. I had her put the cinnamon sugar and she blended it over the donuts nicely. Just The hint of cinnamon and sugar is so delicious on these buttery mini size donuts. They're a little piece of heaven in your mouth. The custard shake is of course creamy and delicious. It's nice that the prominent taste is the peanut butter, with a little added enhancement from the chocolate. She took the chocolate and swirled around the outside edge of the glass.
