We needed a quick breakfast that wouldn't cost zillions of dollars in Birmingham, so we decided to try them. They had an offer for free cider donuts with sandwich purchase so why not. Despite the place being empty on Sunday morning, the staff still made so many mistakes with our order it was ridiculous. There is no cream/sugar/stirs station so every time you need something you have to ask. The coffee was good, so were the cider donuts, but that was it. The avocado toast has almost zero avocado, I couldn't taste it at all. The breakfast sandwich was made on a stale and reheated bagel from the bag. We were not impressed at all, and won't be back. I love this place, they have a lot of space in here to sit and the food and desserts and cold brew are delicious. Make sure you are a member as you can sign up at the register with a QR code and be eligible for rewards. I think the cold brew is great as they always have rotating flavors for the foam- I got the lemon honey cold foam and it was delicious! Knocking off a star tho as it's an up charge for cold foam added to the cold brew charge ($6.00 for 12 oz I believe). Pretty sure I got up charged for no reason! I also love the carrot cake cupcake here (what's up doc it's called, I believe). I usually get one mini which is $2.25. They also sell Blakes jams here which are super tasty and beat the Whole Foods/ other brands! I recommend trying the Blake's triple jam. I'll go out on a limb and say this is my favorite bakery in the Detroit metro area. And it's not close. I've been to a few locations, and they're are all super high quality. The cupcakes are never anything but moist and delicious and so damn good. Employees are always super sweet and enjoy giving their recommendations if you have decisions fatigue like I do. I highly recommend getting a bunch of mini cupcakes to try all their flavors. Depending on the location, there may or may not be a lot of searing. The Birmingham location has a lot of space whether you want to come get work done or have a good time with friends and family. I can't recommend Bakehouse 46 enough! read more

GET THE CATERING bakehouse 46 catered my September wedding and I could not have been more pleased. Starting off with the tasting. Sam made the process so enjoyable and easy. We tasted like every single cupcake in the place along with the donuts. We ended up getting a lemon lust cake, a variety of cupcakes, donuts, and brownies! We also added on apple cider. They even whipped up our all time favorite raspberry latte cupcake for us even though it was not on their menu at the moment! The day of the wedding was so smooth!!! I ordered a dozen mini cupcakes online for my mom's 90th birthday. I got a little messed up because I wanted to go back and see the descriptions because when you order it just gives you the name of the cupcake. When it came to put my order in, I accidentally ordered them for that day (and paid) not two days later, which I intended to do as I originally had in my cart. I immediately called when I saw the date and the girl that answered said she could not change it but she could cancel it. I am hoping that was done. So I went into the store on a Wednesday morning about an hour after they opened, hoping to order the same assortment. They didn't have the variety I had ordered. However, the bumpy cake ones were just being frosted so I waited. To my happy surprise, the guy behind the counter told me they were buy six, get six free! $12 is much better than $24! All the cupcakes were delicious, especially the bumpy cake which is a true Michigan gem. I plan to go back this week to see if I can order the carrot or lemon lust. I will miss out on the June key lime flavor though. Cross my fingers for some unique ones, but I'll be sure to add a bumpy cake one. read more

This bakery is so cute and has tasty desserts! I love that the cupcakes are small so you can taste a few if you'd like. My friend and I chose the Peanut Butter & Chocolate, Red Velvet, and Chocolate Salted Caramel. All 3 were delicious. They were moist with the perfect amount of sweetness. Definitely give this place a try if you're in the area :) The staff are nice and welcoming. I have one small critique and it's the packaging for the mini cupcakes. We ordered 3 cupcakes and the staff put them in an upside down plastic container. It was not wide enough so one of cupcakes was smashed. Updating my review after their new location has opened. Their new spot is located on busy Maple street. I've been in multiple times in the time since they reopened, but service has only gone downhill. No hi or hello. No "we'll be right with you." Case in point my most recent visit. I stopped in after an appointment nearby. There was a group of 4 in front of me. The two workers were taking care of the group while patiently stood in line about a foot behind them. No one looked at me. No one acknowledged me. I was there for around 5 minutes. As the workers prepared their food and finished up their order, I, again, was still standing behind them. A women barges into the restaurant and says "I just have to get a coffee." Forgoes any type of kindness or care to the person who was standing in line for over 10 minutes. Guess who got their order before me? That's right. Miss. I Just Have To Get A Coffee. I was completely baffled. When I confronted the two workers, both said they didn't even see me. Which really shows how little they pay attention to the shop. I also confronted the impatient coffee drinker and her response was "I just need a coffee." Well, I "just" need a cupcake and a donut but you don't see me cutting off the customers waiting ahead of me. I will never do business here again. Horrible, horrible customer service. read more

Bakehouse 46 is a local bakery chain owned by Blake's. Blake's is the best so obviously their bakery is going to be the best as well lol I had been to their Rochester location for pickup before and had literally the best carrot cake cupcakes of my entire life. My friends and I stopped in here at this location for something sweet after a meal nearby. They have a couple vegan options in their baked goods which is great for my dairy free friend. I had the bumpy cake cupcake which is about $5 for one. Seem pricey but it is so worth it. Again, one of the best cupcakes I've ever had in my life. Bumpy cake is already one of my favorite desserts and to have it in basically a homemade cupcake version is the best. So delicious and sweet and the cream was amazing. They have a really nice seating area throughout the cafe and bathrooms towards the back. The only reason I'm docking a star is because the worker who served us/checked us out was pretty unpleasant in regards to just general grumpiness lol. read more

After being unable to narrow down which cupcakes we wanted, we opted for a half dozen of the mini cupcakes to get a sampling of their flavors. Each one was fresh and delicious. I would say they also had just the right amount of sugar, not too sweet, which let the flavors of the other ingredients be a little more distinguishable. Been wanting to try this place out for a while. Picked up a breakfast sammie, veggie sammie with Turkey added on an Asiago bagel, half gallon of Blake's cider and a drip coffee. Their caramel apples, donuts look good as well. Staff are friendly enough. It was fairly busy when I entered. A couple of people had orders in the queue and one left as I entered. They have about 3-4 people working here. Service is pretty efficient. The drip coffee was out immediately. Added cream and sugar to it as well. The food was done in about 9 minutes or so. The cider is as expected and decent since it's from Blake's. The coffee was decent. The veggie sandwich came on a veggie bagel, not the asiago bagel. Rings of the red onion would've been better than these big chunks. The veggie contents aren't a bad mixture, just a little scarce. Breakfast sandwiches all seem rather skimpy. It's mostly all bagel sandwiches. I've had more filled sandwiches at bagel shops. read more

Finally! My cider mill (cake) donut cravings resolved! Being in quarantine, I have had cravings for ice cream, donuts, and anything that sparks joy. Going back to basics, I was craving a cake donut with frosting and rainbow sprinkles. Sound easy to find, eh? Not so much. I can't tell you how many donut stores I've searched to only find yeast donuts. Thanks to Instagram I saw the DIY donut kits with two cider mill donuts, frosting, and rainbow sprinkles. Super exciting. Not only did I get my donut, but I got to do something fun before inhaling this sweet treat. There is a ton of frosting, so I recommend buying more plain donuts so your frosting doesn't go to waste. This would be a fun activity to do with a group of people too. Thinking about my nieces and nephews. I recommend ordering online. You can select your pick up time. Once you arrive, there is a 1-person limit inside the store, so be patient and wait outside. Several of us shared the various cupcakes; we all agreed, the cake is a bit dry & the frosting is rather sweet. I stopped in Bakehouse to pick up some dessert for Valentine's Day. I saw on Bakehouse's Instagram that they bake their cookies fresh each morning, so I knew I had to get a cookie. The chocolate chip cookie was my delicious. It tasted like a classic family recipe. My husband's favorite was the caramel bar. So many flavors in each bite! And of course, you need strawberries for Valentine's Day. I really liked the sugar on top of the white chocolate strawberry. Blake's is one of my favorite orchards, so I'll definitely be coming back for cider and donuts. read more

It wasn't until reading other Yelp reviews that I realized that this was a Blake Farms project. They have a wonderful assortment of sandwiches, cider mill donuts, and baked goods. They seemed busy inside, but people were generally pretty good at keeping their distance. They do have some inside seating available. I opted to take my order to go. I stopped by at a weird time, so I skipped the sandwiches and opted for cider mill donut, a pupcake for my dog, and something I haven't seen around here in quite some time- a little tub of banana pudding. The cider mill donuts were good. I assume from how quickly my doggy devoured the pupcake that it was also good. What really captured my attention though was that banana pudding. It was phenomenal.
