I came to this bakery on August 18th a lititle after 4pm. The owner came to the counter and asked how she could help me. Here attitude was very cold and stern from the beginning. I though possibly she had a busy day as it was close to her closing. Well, I pick up my cake yesterday Aug 25th and she had the same "stank" attitude. What is really going on. The strawberry cake flavor was very light meaning no flavor. I will not go back or have anyone I know go to this bakery. Check your attitude! read more

Have been here a couple of times. Bakery that has beautiful & tasty cupcakes, quiches, cakes. I've had the bourbon pecan tart, apple cider vinegar cupcake (really good). My friend found the gluten free cupcake (pumpkin?)a but dry but said creme brulee was best she's had. The Bourbon caramel cake was very tender and I didn't think i liked either flavor. We got decorated vanilla cupcakes for a birthday that was a hit. read more

I purchased a strawberry shortcake for a birthday celebration, from Cake Crumbs and boy was it delicious!!! The decoration was lovely! The filling, I think, was butter cream. Delicious! The cake itself had a perfect hint of strawberry throughout, without being overpowering. Great job Cake Crumbs! read more

I found this bakery when I was looking for somewhere to buy a German chocolate cake for my dad's birthday the next day. I called around closing time and asked if they had any cakes already prepared as I figured it was too short notice to put in a special order. The girl on the phone was very nice and told me they could have a cake made and ready for me by 11am the next day. The cake itself was beautiful and tasted even better. I'm typically not a big fan of chocolate cake, but it was so good, I couldn't stop eating it! The cake was perfectly moist and frosting was not too sweet which is often a problem with German chocolate cakes. I will definitely be ordering again from this bakery in the future! read more

I was pleasantly surprised as I never heard of this place and was just in the area. Upon entering, a lot of beautiful treats caught my eye. I was overwhelmed because everything looked so delicious. I will say I also thought that it was a little pricey. I chose the death by chocolate and also the tuxedo cake, but they called it something else. Well they both was simply delicious. Their chocolate was dark chocolate and not overly sweet. We just loved that very moist and the chocolate mousse was awesome too. The service was good too. I hate that I live so far from there. read more

We stopped by here to get some sort of dessert for a very last minute socially distant birthday drop off. This cute little shop is full of delicious treats! And don't worry, if you forgot to grab some candles or a card, they've got you covered. They have a display case full of cakes, cheesecakes, tarts, macaroons, and other desserts. Right next to that they have shelves lined with the most delicious looking cupcakes. It was hard to decide on just two! Vegan friends, they do have vegan-friendly options! I do believe I saw some GF options as well, but you should call to confirm. Customer service was excellent! This was the perfect treat for a fun surprise! We'll be back for the next celebration! read more

Cake Crumbs - "It's your birthday" and "grandmas's German chocolate" cupcakes - Cupcakes Near Me - Southfield, Michigan

I was highly recommended to this place by a friend. I had a "Snickers" cupcake. Ooh boy. They call the place Cake Crumbs because the cake batter they make is so dry that as soon as you bite into the cupcake there's nothing but crumbs left in your hands. The cake part of the cupcake left me feeling parched as if I had walked miles in the Sahara. The part of the cupcake that I didn't catch in the first bite was littered around me in fallen chocolate crumbles. At the same time, the frosting was whipped so much making it so light (not in a good way) it was as though it wasn't there (though the flavor was okay). The combination of frosting and cake came together just wrong. Literally every grocery store cupcake I've ever had in my life is better than what this place offers. I would never come back and my recommendation would be to anyone looking for a sweet baked good to look elsewhere. read more

We held an Afterglow party for a close friend who finished the 3-day 60 mile walk for Breast Cancer. We had specific colors & flavors in mind and it was a decent sized order. Cake Crumbs had the reviews we were looking for so we chose them. Wow! Their business is on point! The prices are very fair, great selection, and staff is so helpful and take pride in their work. I cannot say enough great things about this company. We purchased a simple pastry display off Amazon and the effect was gorgeous! Our guests and guest of honor were so impressed with the ascetics and taste of the desserts from Cake Crumbs. We're super pleased and highly recommend this business. Kudos to having plenty of Vegan cupcake options, not just typical vanilla or chocolate. It's not a nut free facility, but they do assure that they clean equipment between each flavors for those with nut allergies. I came in at an odd time for them - looks like COVID affected their "walk in" business store-front, meaning that there were a few things on display like cakes, bars, cobblers, but still missing a large part of their display. Pastries were mislabeled. Also, what was presented at the store front was not indication of what pastries and flavors they had in the back, so you had to ask. I guess they are still dealing with the aftermath of how covid disrupted their business. -1 star because you if you decide to get a cupcake, you are required to purchase a MINIMUM of 6 cupcakes, which amounts to around $22 for non vegan and $25-26 for vegan cupcakes. Why can't I just pick one or two??? I never seen this with other bakeries before. Now, onto the vegan cupcakes. Moist. Flavorful. Not too sweet (which I like). You can't even tell they are vegan. I probably will prefer the vegan ones to the non-vegan ones. read more

Amazing cupcakes! They have a good assortment of desserts including cupcakes, cake pops, cake slices and rice krispy pops. They also have vegan options. I tried the oreo cheesecake and creme brulee cupcakes. They oreo was so moist and filled with delicious cream inside. It was even topped with a piece of cheesecake on top. The creme brulee cupcake was a little dry and did not have much filling However it was topped with delicious frosting with sugar that was caramelized. It created a crunchy texture that was so satisfying. read more

They only get 1 star because you can choose 0. BUYER BEWARE .. Do NOT purchase an expensive cake here. If they mess it up, they will lie and say it's your fault and won't reimburse you. I paid 250$ for a baby shower cake. I ordered Raspberry cake with key lime frosting. The woman who took the order promised I'd be blown out of the water and I was. She gave me a key lime cake with key lime frosting and a small gel layer of raspberry. It was disgusting and I had to watch all but 1 of the 80 guests throw it in the garbage. When I called, the same woman told me Chef would give me a refund. She lied AGAIN! LITERALLY ZERO STARS FOR IT ALL INCLUDING CUSTOMER SERVICE. This place doesn't care about your even, just about how much money they can scam out of you. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. Because it will cost you for their screw up and they really don't care!! read more

My sister searched online and chose Cake Crumbs as the place to get her husband's cupcakes for his birthday. She chose an assorted dozen which consisted of salted caramel, strawberries and cream, cinnamon roll, lemon, chocolate, German chocolate, birthday, and grand marnier carrot. I picked them up before their flight arrived. I was surprised that the cupcakes are sitting outside of the case and are instead on a pedestal on the countertop. When I saw them sitting on the counter, I actually thought they were displayed to show the flavors available. Anyway, these Cupcakes rank up there with the best in the area. Nevertheless, they said no problem and the cake was ready less than one day later! That is great service. The cake itself was amazingly decorated. The cupcakes I've had are good. My issue is the knowledge of those selling them. I love cupcakes and ask questions that seem standard: what flavor cake is it, what type of frosting, is anything inside. They seemed annoyed by my questions. The person who was called over to help rolled her eyes and said "it's just a cinnamon cupcake." I left. Forget it since you can't be bothered I will go to an establishment that let's me know the flavor. read more
