The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable, & helpful. Nice open bright interior. I tried 3 items and was not impressed. I got a maple cinnamon danish but it didn't taste like maple at all and had a funny smell to it. read more

Working on 696 and came up for a cup of coffee. The inside is very clean. They had a great variety of sweet treats. The coffee was great! They also had cream of broccoli soup so of course I had to get a cup. It was the best cream of broccoli I've ever had. Great place. read more

This seems to be a bread place so I'm not surprised but their doughnuts taste like bread dipped in glaze--there's no sweetness or other depth of flavour added to the dough. I ended up throwing them out and this is my 2nd experience in Detroit so far where doughnuts taste like this. The woman who helped us was kind and I might go back to try other menu items to see if they're better. read more

I miss the original Star bakery. But I will say this, the bakery here is good. Not a favorite but the Hanukkah cookies were a hit with the family as well as some other pastries my daughter tried. A bit sweet for my liking but all in all great variety and everything was fresh. read more

Hard to believe anyone would rate this bakery anything less than 5 stars. If I didn't live 1 hour away I would weigh 25 pounds more than I do. My favorites are the cream horn, 7 layer cake, cheese danish, and the breads. I'm ready to throw my coat on and drive over. read more

somewhat decent onion rolls however would be really good if they put more onion in the rolls.. they put very little onion in the onion rolls. used to get a roll called carraway horn with salt on it.. don't seem to carry this anymore... it was my favorite..norman schwartz read more

Amazing bakery. This place has been around for at least fifty years and keeps getting better. I moved out of state but make a point of going back every time I'm in Oak Park for a visit. Everything they make is great, but make sure you try the cheese danish! And remember to get some sprinkle cookies for the kids. read more

Oh Zeman's... The last 2x I went here the rolls and the challah were stale, but maybe it was because I was being a total goy and going in on a Tuesday. Zeman's... you can be so fickle sometimes. I went to Westborn recently, and these Zeman's onion rolls caught my eye. My mother and I were going to do our deli tail-gate, and we needed bookahs (rolls in Polish)! So there they were... tempting me. I knew it could be a fail since they weren't from the bakery itself, and they might be stale... but damn it, they looked so delicious! How could I not? What would be better with a ham and cheese sandwich than an ONION ROLL? The onion rolls are RIDICULOUS. I'm not sure what I like more, their challah or onion rolls! Now I want more! read more

I'm only giving 4 stars right now banking on the possibility I will travel there soon and check it out to try other goodies! First, I have to say the challah dinner rolls are a staple at family get-togethers. The last one I was at I had forgotten all about these wonderful little knots of yummy and rediscovered them. Second, I found out that Busch's in Plymouth and HIller's in Plymouth carry some of Zeman's products, including these rolls! While I do concede that homemade challah is UNBEATABLE, I don't care what bakery it is, these little guys are definite contenders. Especially if I don't have enough time to make homemade challah *wink!*. *c read more

I like new places so my friend and I decided to give this place a try. When you first come in the atmosphere looks pretty plain and basic. The bakery items did not look appetizing. None of the employees greeted or tried to help us. It is sad that you have to practically beg for help and not receive good customer service. read more

I would give ZERO stars but it won't allow that. I am so very disappointed, I was an oak park resident for almost 30 years and was a faithful customer to Zemans. I moved away and when my son and daughter in law were coming to visit I took the opportunity to place and on line order at Zemans (fully paid for!) for them to Pick up and bring to me. When they picked it up, not only were they charged as well, they were given the wrong order!! I have called twice to try and speak to one of the owners and...surprise.... they are never available and don't call back. This is straight up robbery and poor business practice. read more

If I want any Jewish sort of dessert other than a seven layer cake, I would come to Zeman's. It is the worst temptation walking around in here, because it smells so goooood. It is conveniently located near the Pita Cafe, so if you forgo dessert at the restaurant, give this bakery some consideration. read more

their danish rolls and apple turnovers are great! kids get a free cookie so my son is definitely a fan. the people there are very friendly and were patient enough to explain all the desserts to a clueless person like myself. i'm looking forward to going back and trying some more treats. read more

The challah is the best nice soft and eggy. I only eat babka made homemade by family or Zeman's no one else's. The apple babka is the best crazy good. Finally as a newly converted Jew they make me feel at home. Everyone that works there is nice, professional and kind. When I was in Michigan for an extended stay one of the employees help me find a shul to observe Shabbat. Not only is the food awesome but so are the people who work there. read more

Absolute Morans Never order something to be delivered from this place. They are lucky to have a niche market in that their kosher otherwise this business would not stay alive with the idiots working there!! I ordered a birthday cake to be delivered but it never arrived. When I called the bakery they said they never got an order... well my credit card was charged!! Then I was told they don't take credit cards over the phone... I live in Chicago and my credit card was charged so guess what MORAN....someone took a credit card over the phone. The insult to injury is there was now ownership or apology and someone went without a birthday cake!!!! Great job Zeeman's awesome customer service. You should be ashamed if only this werent par for the course... Remember Bake Station cuz I sure do!!! read more
