You can get a big box or small box , I don't care what size, just get them!

It's Fat Tuesday Time ! Get you some of theses delicious Paczki! You can get them filled with different fruit jellies, meringue and puddings ( peach, apple, cherry, lemon, chocolate, vanilla). Yes, it was packed and Elias Donuts did a great job moving the crowd along and getting them donuts out of there. They also serve coffee, ice cream , smoothies and sandwiches here. Give 'em a try.

They have banana pudding Hershey's ice cream!!!

Can't believe that I lived a couple of miles north of this and never stopped here. I will admit that with one of the best bakeries between might have been the reason. Boy, was I missing a gem. Neighborhood staple for close to 40 years and the quality of products and service are the reason. Every donut I brought was delicious even after being frozen. The yeast donut is even better than Krispy Kreme's!!! While I wish they would have frosted cake donuts, the flavor of the glazed ones are a good substitute. The cinnamon roll was still good even 2 days later. The sugar cookies taste like home made. While the baked goods are the main reason people stop, it will be the Hershey's Ice Cream that will make me come back. I had been trying to find that and the banana pudding flavor for 2 years. They had it!!! Small businesses like this are neighborhood secrets at times. I am glad to let the secret.

I passed Elias Donuts so many times before and thought "24 hour" donut shop. Hmmmm Well I visited one day on my way to work and indeed they were open with fresh donuts. There was a variety of over 20 donuts to chose from. I liked the moist apple sauce donuts and the sweet potato ( not overly sweet). Since they over 3 free with a dozen purchase I decided to go crazy. They had a Fruit Loops covered donut. It looked pretty weird, but I know a little kid would love it. The glazed donuts were light and fluffy with just enough glaze to satisfy your sweet tooth. Also on the menu: Red velvet, sour cream, apple fritters, cinnamon rolls, twists, donut sticks, sprinkle donuts, maple glazed, chocolate glazed, and donut holes. They accept credit cards. They have a dining portion (not open when I visited). Parking is available in a private lot. Plus it is not too far from the Southfield Fwy. They were good 2 day later. Pretty good deal for fresh donuts.

Our next-door neighbor likes us to surprise us with Elias donuts from time to time. It's hard to beat their classic glazed flavor, but we also love some of the chocolate varieties. The donuts are soft, light, and not too cakey. I also highly recommend warming leftovers up for about 10 seconds in the microwave. I'm sure there is a really good reason why this place has been going strong for 36 years. Any type of sweet or donut we have had goes very quickly around here :-) Give this place a try, you won't be disappointed!

This is definitely a great spot for donuts. Very comparable to Dutch girls. The donuts here are very moist and made on site. There is also a lot of variety of donuts, Ice cream, shakes, burgers etc. my favorite by far was the sour cream. Customer service isn't bad but it's not good either. There's no welcome or smile or warmth from the staff but they say thank you and such. So Maybe I'm just being picky. I tried and half dozen and all tasted great. I also tried the chicken wrap, which I did not like. It's made fresh but there is barely any meat for the huge oversized wrap they use. I ended up tearing half of the bread of because almost every bite I took was just bread and dressing. But overall great donuts huge variety. I will return for their great donuts.

Its Paczki Day! Got a half dozen at Elias Donuts, and these calorie laden cakes did not disappoint. I went for the Bavarian Cream Paczki for first taste. I even took out the time to capture a pic before delving in. :D Did I mention that the bakers at Elias work in house? If you go in at the right time you can see (and smell) the proofing, frying, and glazing of baked goods in action. You'll have to peek over into the bakery door, its not on full display. Great bakery place.

Pretty darn good! I went here Thursday around 10am and got a really good red velvet donut! If I remember correctly it was under a dollar. These are the best kind of places. You want in, order from what is shown behind the counter, pay and enjoy! Definitely worth the stop!

This place has been here for years. Huge variety of doughnuts, cookies, icecream and cheesecake. They also have a hotttt food menu in addition to smoothies and fresh juices.

The Potato Place - Far is the house with sour cream, chicken, bacon, shredded cheese, mushrooms and chives

First time trying this legendary establishment and it did not disappoint! The potato was huge and…read moresoooo good! I got the house potato with chicken, broccoli, and bacon. They allow you to customize your butter, and of course I wanted it loaded up with sour cream and cheese! Service was fast and I'll definitely be back to try a different potato. Nice location in the heart of WSU with available street parking.

This review is going to be somewhat hard. I'm a Wayne state grad (many years ago anyway) so when my…read morewife mentioned this place I said let's go try it. We went on a Saturday so the limited parking wasn't a problem but I'm sure that during the weekdays parking close would be a consideration. The menu has many choices so finding something you like shouldn't be hard as long as you want a potato base. Place was small with only a few tables (several carry outs while we were there eating). The food was made in a timely manner and all ingredient's that were fresh. Food also has a nice visual presentation. Food came in a plastic box so taking leftovers home was a breeze. Food had good taste and a generous portion size. OK, I'm saying all these good things, why no 5 stars? It just doesn't seem to meet that standard. Personally I thought it was a novel idea to try a jazzed up potato and it was, but going back, well I don't think I'll make the trip. If you're looking for a novel fast food meal with friendly service and fresh ingredients in a generous portion go here. If you're looking for a more sit down family type of meal go elsewhere. So you see my dilemma, there is nothing to ding this place for. It's a solid value but just isn't my cup of tea. Would I recommend this place? Sure, with the understanding of just what it is and no more. Clean fast friendly service fresh food ingredients presented well with a novel twist but I would suggest that they try putting some beans and/or chile over the potato's. Go ahead give this place a try for yourself. See if you think it's worth 5 stars.

7-Eleven - A rare sight. It's usually packed in here

7-Eleven

3.0(1 review)
8.8 miWayne State, Midtown

I forgot this place was here as the bridge over Anthony Wayne drive to 3rd Street got taken out,…read moreseemingly forever and the bridge over Second was awol for the longest time, getting replaced by a new one that's trying really hard to be a landmark. All that made this area a big dead end it made no sense to venture into if you're not a Wayne State student or employee. This Sevs does some serious business. I'm guessing it does the most volume of any 7-11 in Detroit. Only the one on Jefferson between downtown and Belle Isle and the one in Cadillac Square offer any real competition and I'm guessing this college Sevs crushes em. Parking here sucks. I'm not keen to feed the meters and even if i was spaces are scant. Late night on the weekends, though, after metered hours, when I'm getting off my restaurant job grind and have a taste for some junk food this place is banging. Like crazy busy. Like I almost feel like I'm in an 80s movie or TV show where the convenience store is this happening hangout. There's more space here for hot food - pizza, wings, hot dogs, taquitos, etc - than I've ever seen at a Sevs and they keep it moving, too. The hot dogs are no doubt unhealthy but I at least feel like they haven't been rolling around on those metal cylinders for hours. The slurpee and Big Gulp stations are bigger than usual as well. And there's usually three employees on as opposed to the one or two you'd usually see. Even still the line at the checkouts gets stacked pretty deep - seven, eight or nine at times. One night I came in a bit earlier, around ten and it wasn't jumping, only a couple other patrons besides me. Late night, though, students with snack attacks are rolling deep. As you can imagine things can get pretty messy here sometimes with all that foot traffic. The employees do a reasonable job I'm sure but the customers just work even harder at tearing this place up. The trash can by the hot dog station just isn't close enough to it either. The cops are ALWAYS in here, too, even more than a regular 7-11. That night I came in earlier than usual was I think the only night I didn't see police in here and I've probably been to this Sevs at least 7 or 8 times by now. No good cheap dollar beverages here, they only stock the big Arizonas and even waters run more than a buck. They do actually have a couple functioning water fountains, though, for some reason. This 7-11 is just really extra and sometimes I'm in the mood for that and sometimes not. If you need late night convenience around here after the mighty Marcus Market closes and you don't feel like fighting the crowd here I recommend Midtown Market.
