Yellow Light is inside Michigan Central station - from what I hear from others, this Yellow Light's second location. I wandered in on a Saturday on my first visit and was pleasantly surprised by Yellow Light. They serve cake style donuts (rather than fluffy risen/yeast ones). They had an ample number of flavors AND all available as well. The service was so friendly; they even let me try the coffee slush! Also I overhead them talking about the vanilla bean, so I decided to add it to my order. I liked the that the donuts were fresh and not too sweet at all. I enjoyed all the flavors I tried. I did - however - expect blueberry to be like a blueberry batter than than blueberry glaze for some reason!

In Michigan Central was a donut slash coffee shop called "Yellow Light" they had a nice selection of donuts and coffee. I chose a donut, you know, to try local delicacies. The donuts delivered. Soft and perfectly frosted. They had a better taste than Dunkin. The vibe was different inside as well. Modern but small. There was a line but not a real good place for people to line up that was out of the way. They also had no chairs. But they had tables to stand next to. I like the concept and would definitely come again I just wish I brought a chair, my feet were killing me.

3RD Visit--- I should start by stating My 1st non Grand Opening self guided tour of the amazing Michigan Central train station was because the kind staff at Yellow Light Doughnuts explained where to go The Doughnuts are Simply AMAZING, not overly sweet... You actually taste the "flavor" of the one(s) You select. This is a stop every visitor to the Train Station MUST make. We get 2 and a little knife to split them The Security staff also shares their favorite and why...ex: today Brown Butter. Strawberry Lemon (Special) Stand Fav Lemon Poppyseed Be fair to Yourself get at least 1/2- or full dozen... One person I referred, told me about the Shushie Coffee...we were given a taste which yes led to a Purchase Kinnari ( I really hope I spelled her name rt), has waited on us 2X, she is friendly, pleased to answer questions, also Welcoming

Really cute and quaint coffee spot inside Michigan Central Station. We came at the end of the day, so the donuts were all sold out, and ended up getting a decalf latte and a coffee slush and they were both excellent! The workers were very friendly. Can't wait to come back and try their famous donuts.

We grabbed donuts here on our way out from a tour of Michigan Central station and were pleasantly surprised by how good the donuts were. Service was pretty friendly and the space looked well maintained. I defy recommend grabbing a treat if you're nearby.

The location of this cafe is very unique as it's inside the Michigan grand central station. The interior design of the cafe was beautiful and modern. I will say the donuts and the coffee are extremely sweet which is not my cup of tea. I did ask for them to put just a little flavoring in my small coffee and it was still extremely sugary. They also did not have almond milk which as someone who is lactose intolerant was not ideal - they did have oatmilk but I feel they should have different dairy free options. I tried the birthday cake donut which to me just gave me a tooth ache way tooo sweet for me- but again I'm not a sweets gal. I also had the chicken sausage and cheese biscuit with a side of maple syrup which was very yummy We got 2 small coffees, one donut, and 2 biscuit sandwiches + tip was around $30 so not too bad. There is no place to sit inside the cafe - just a standing table area - but as you walk out and explore the central station there is plenty room to sit and walk around to explore the beautiful monument.

So excited for this location- I love the eastside drive through but this is closer for me and being able to walk in is nice. They don't have as many kinds of doughnuts as the other spot - here you'll find Birthday Cake (household fave), blueberry, cinnamon, lemon poppy, chocolate frosted (also exquisite), and vanilla. Their doughnuts are usually the same cake-type base but with different amazing glazes and toppings. Let's move on to breakfast sandwiches. They're all great, but my preferred move is to add an egg to the chicken sausage and cheddar. I haven't yet figured out the best sauce for it (have you? Post a review!) Coffee/beverages: a regular drip coffee is a solid choice. They roast their own beans and you can even purchase them to take home. I find the medium roast works best for me. The coffee slushie is fantastic if you're looking for a sweet treat, as is the hot cider. My only disappointment is that they don't offer decaf. Okay so where to hang out and feast after you get your glorious order? There's just a small counter to stand at inside the business, but exit into the massive lobby and you'll find cozy lounge space and cafe tables to read a book (maybe from Neighbor) or catch up with the doughnut lovers in your life.

Half a dozen; three vanilla bean; two cinnamon; and one blueberry.

These are cake style donuts; fresh and tasty. Service is average but, the location (Michigan Central Station)makes that atmosphere an enjoyable experience. The only drawback to this location is the limited flavors of donuts.

That bright sign on Woodward isn't just a place to grab a dozen; it's part of the city's DNA. Growing up, my grandmother went there all the time. And when I say all the time, I mean ALL the time. Weekends, random afternoons, "just because" mornings -- Dutch Girl was the move. Some of my favorite childhood memories are walking in and being hit with that sweet, warm smell of fresh donuts and seeing the cases stacked with every kind you could imagine. It felt like magic as a kid. The donuts themselves? Classic, no-frills, done-right Detroit goodness. Soft, fresh, and generously glazed or filled -- the kind of donuts that don't try to be trendy or over-the-top. They don't need to. They've been holding it down for generations. That's the beauty of a true staple: consistency. You always knew exactly what you were getting, and it was always good. If I'm being honest, the only reason I'm not rushing there now is because I had SO many of their donuts growing up that I might have maxed out my lifetime quota . When you've had that much of something, you need a little break. But that doesn't take away from what they are to the city. Dutch Girl Donuts represents Detroit pride -- resilience, tradition, and community. It's one of those places that connects generations. My grandmother loved it, I grew up on it, and new families are still making memories there today. In a city that's all about loyalty and roots, Dutch Girl stands tall. Forever a Detroit classic.

The woman working there greeted me when I came in. She explained to me the options for the bucket or the bag of mini donuts. She also gave me a little bit more detail and background around the custard shake. The custard shakes are made with her wonderful high quality custard yogurt. Their small machine puts out 1,200 Mini donuts an hour. They're bigger machine puts a 2,400. It's fairly quick. She made them fresh for my bucket. The bucket is $15 for the mini donuts. I also ordered a custard shake. I had her mix the peanut butter and chocolate, because, why not. I tried the mini donuts hot off the conveyor. They were slightly crunchy, melt in your mouth and the most perfect size bite you could ever ask for. I had her put the cinnamon sugar and she blended it over the donuts nicely. Just The hint of cinnamon and sugar is so delicious on these buttery mini size donuts. They're a little piece of heaven in your mouth. The custard shake is of course creamy and delicious. It's nice that the prominent taste is the peanut butter, with a little added enhancement from the chocolate. She took the chocolate and swirled around the outside edge of the glass. They have a food truck, but they moved into this brick and mortar in the summertime.
