We ordered drinks and I had a Mojito, the 1st Mojito I ordered was REALLY sour, I could tell that there was no Simple Syrup at all in it, when I told the waitress about it she went back and made another one with the Simple syrup and it was so much better. I ordered the Chicken & Waffles, the amount of chicken they gave you for the waffle was outstanding, it was about 7 pieces of chicken on 2 pretty big waffles. The chicken was seasoned perfectly and the waffles were nice and fluffy. Everything was cooked to perfection. I would love to come back and try other dishes from this place again.

I assume there is a wait on weekends. Greeted by friendly staff quickly and offered a menu to pursue. Selections covered all the basic brunch items without being "too much." The ambience is warm and casual though ambient noise makes quiet conversation a challenge. Our server appeared to be newer and somewhat nervous so there was not much chitchat. Babo does not offer decaf coffee, a big disappointment. I settled for tea. The server was not aware of this decaf option until I asked. Our food came quickly although it was not super warm for either one of us. The syrup for the waffle was very cold, also a disappointment. Other than these two drawbacks, the flavors were wonderful and the pricing seems right in line for this area. Babo is a solid brunch choice in this are. We always look forward to our visits.

The interior does look nice, they updated it a lot but still kept some of the wood features from before, which I liked. That said, the service and overall customer experience definitely needs improvement. We stood in the lobby for quite a while with no clear direction. It wasn't obvious whether we were supposed to wait somewhere specific or if a hostess was coming, so there was a lot of confusion until someone finally let us know there was a wait. Once we were seated, it also took a long time for our waitress to come over. By the time she did, we'd already had plenty of time to look over the menu and knew exactly what we wanted. When I asked a few questions while placing my order, she seemed a bit irritated, which didn't feel very welcoming. As for the food, everything on the menu felt overpriced for the quality and portion sizes. We ordered a variety of items to try different things. The cinnamon sweet potato pancakes were definitely the standout, they were really good. The grits bowl was good, However, the biscuits and gravy were disappointing. It was just one biscuit for $6, no meat at all, and the gravy tasted a bit off. Overall, the pricing for breakfast felt steep, and I was honestly a little taken aback by it. The mimosas were delicious, but again, not quite worth the price point for me. Nothing I had really stood out enough to make me feel like I have to come back for it, which was disappointing because I wanted to love this place. Maybe I ordered the wrong things, so I might give it another try to see what the hype is about, but as of now, it was just okay. Solid three stars.

So, not expecting a long wait, since we were the only one's placing an order at that time. First clue - had to ask the waitress to wipe off the table. Well, at 11:30am, our food had not arrived yet. Getting busy now. Our order - or at least most of it - finally arrived at 11:40am. Waitress Never came back for drink refills during this time or apologize for the wait. Ordered scrambled eggs with cheese - the only item that was truly steaming hot. Cat fish was ok - just luke warm. Oh yeah- ordered the Salmon croquettes as an appetizer. Never arrived. Was told later they didn't have any. Potatoes with peppers and onions were tasty, not cooked too hard. Shrimp & grits were good. Had to remind the waitress that we had ordered them though. The french toast croissant was probably good, if we had an opportunity to eat it while it was hot. The real insult was that the syrup arrived with a layer of water on the top!!!! Never have seen watered down pancake syrup in my life!!!!! Took 15 minutes to get it replaced. Of course by then the French Toast was cold. Ambiance - why on earth do they need a live DJ playing the music way too load. Maybe it is to distract you from the excruciating long wait :-( Without the DJ, they could another table for 4. Have been coming here for years at their different locations. They have always struggled with timely service. Even from scratch, there is no reason orders any order should take nearly 2 hours. Overall, the food is very good. The owner has ALWAYS struggled with getting orders out timely. If anything it has gotten worse. Would STRONGLY recommend: - getting rid of the DJ - adds nothing to your bottom line and uses space that could generate revenue with a table for 4. - get a qualified restaurant busines consultant to assist with timely processing of orders and efficiently turning over tables. - faster service and bussing of tables could easily result in doubling revenue, just from the turnover - train staff - tables should be cleaned before seating customers, should check in every 15 minutes on requests or other needs. There is a 20% gratuity automatically added ti the bill - yet the waitress had the unmitigated gall to suggest a "cash tip". - STOP cutting corners by taking shortcuts like watering down the syrup. Makes one wonder what else you are doing that diminishes the quality of the food. We have patronized many time over the years and brought friends. Sad to say, can't imagine returning. Wishing you well.

We ended up going to Cornbread and it was a total disappointment. We've already been to Lilly Mae's so let's see what Joe Louis has going on. We came on a Tuesday afternoon and thankfully it wasn't crowded and we were seated right away. It's a lively vibe inside, and the 70's Motown music had me going down memory lane. They also have lighted up faux trees, and pictures of Joe Louis adoring the walls. We ordered the seafood skillet, fish sandwich with delicious seasoned fries, side of fried shrimp, banana foster, and banana pudding, Mannnnnn, everything was delicious and we can't wait to return in the near future. A special thank you to Paul for the outstanding service. We really appreciate all your help.

Based on what I was told, the restaurant and Door Dash do not communicate directly about time expectations. This needs major improvement on the backend. Additionally, once getting the food, grease was everywhere; sausages were hard AF; and the French toast was dry. The two stars here are really for the hosts, who tried their best to be nice and communicative. Otherwise, my rating would be 0.
