Met my daughter for lunch before the Georgia O'Keeffe exhibit. I ordered the Korean beef cheesesteak and loved it! Wonderfully tender beef with a kick of heat from the kimchi. Super delicious. I added a Bell's Octoberfest and thoroughly enjoyed my lunch. My daughter ordered the breakfast tacos and said they were amazing. Babo is small, so be prepared to wait or make reservations. Our waitress was prompt and super nice.
When you walk in it literally looks like someone's house which is kind of cool, the atmosphere is really cool and very inviting. We ordered drinks and I had a Mojito, the 1st Mojito I ordered was REALLY sour, I could tell that there was no Simple Syrup at all in it, when I told the waitress about it she went back and made another one with the Simple syrup and it was so much better. I ordered the Chicken & Waffles, the amount of chicken they gave you for the waffle was outstanding, it was about 7 pieces of chicken on 2 pretty big waffles. The chicken was seasoned perfectly and the waffles were nice and fluffy. Everything was cooked to perfection. I would love to come back and try other dishes from this place again.
The cocktails are delicious. The service was not great. The chilaquiles are weird they come with like a large tortilla tostada rather the small tortilla pieces. The harvest salad was good but not enough dressing I had to as for more!
Delicious brunch. Our server was kind & whimsical. The food was very good. The food came out a little jumbled (aka timing was off, waited a while for last meal). But it really did not hurt our experience as we were happy and patient and ordered plenty of food. I will definitely recommend this place to friends, the French toast was unreal.
We always enjoy visiting Babo. Located in mid-town, cute store front brunch spot on Woodward. A fair amount of seating allows easy access without a wait on most weekdays. I assume there is a wait on weekends. Greeted by friendly staff quickly and offered a menu to pursue. Selections covered all the basic brunch items without being "too much." The ambience is warm and casual though ambient noise makes quiet conversation a challenge. Our server appeared to be newer and somewhat nervous so there was not much chitchat. Babo does not offer decaf coffee, a big disappointment. I settled for tea. The server was not aware of this decaf option until I asked. Our food came quickly although it was not super warm for either one of us. The syrup for the waffle was very cold, also a disappointment. Other than these two drawbacks, the flavors were wonderful and the pricing seems right in line for this area. Babo is a solid brunch choice in this are. We always look forward to our visits.
I have tried to go to this restaurant numerous times for brunch but the wait time was longer than I was willing to hang around for. After going I am so sorry for not trying this restaurant sooner. It was such a great selection of breakfast and lunch items as well as a full bar and coffee selection. I went with friends so I was able to try several things. I highly recommend the breakfast smash it was a delicious Sammy on fresh grilled challah bread. I also really enjoyed the Shakshouka which I think was a seasonal dish. The service was great the server was very helpful with recommendations. The space is small so it is not the greatest for larger groups, but great for a party of 2-4 people. I would say this place is on the more expensive side for the amount of food but definitely worth checking out if you're in the mood for a good brunch spot.
This spot was a very popular option for breakfast/brunch! It's a cute cafe with a variety of options including breakfast, brunch and comfort food! I'm so sad we didn't get to have any drinks (we were preparing for our half marathon the next day) but they had an amazing drink menu! I ordered the Korean beef cheesesteak and if I'm honest It didn't taste quite like I expected. I got more of a sloppy Joe tasting sauce over a Korean beef sauce but it wasn't bad. The truffle fries were a little too tangy for my liking as well. Definitely would have to come back for drinks. They had a Chai Tea Martini, Apple Cider Mimosa, and various beer and wine options. I would probably rate the food that I had a 3.5
The food is always fresh and tasty! All of the ladies that work there are amazing with their service. Always pleasant. The ambiance is lively and loud sometimes, then it's nice and chill. Both are fine to me! I love this cute little spot.
It was a Lions game day so we were a little worried we wouldn't get in right away but we were seated immediately by very friendly staff who continued to be prompt and helpful. The food is incredible, I had the crème brûlée French toast and highly recommend it. This is a very cute spot in a convenient location with list of natural light and big windows.
Visited Babo on a sunny Sunday and was able to get a table very quickly. The servers were up beat and seemed to enjoy working there. My server specifically was knowledgeable about the menu and gave us some great recommendations. Started off with a delicious espresso martini and raspberry cheese danish as a starter. For my mains I ordered the Frida skillet without the pecans. This dish was so unique and tasty. It was light but packed full of flavor. I especially loved the onion confit next to the roasted sweet potatoes. I also tried the crème brûlée French toast which was to die for! It was not too sweet, perfectly balanced. The toast was buttery and thick with the crispy sugar layer. Pairing each bite with a strawberry and whipped cream made for the most perfect bite! Overall I would recommend this place for a nice weekend brunch with friends or family. I will definitely be going back next time I am in Detroit!

Why did I wait so long to try this place??!!! It was so darn yummy. I went with my sis to celebrate my nieces 11th birthday. The vibe was chill, the decor was bright and the service upon entering the door was top notch. I recommend making a reservation because this place is popular for good reason. Everyone loved their meal! And they gave my niece free cake. I'm looking forward to returning soon.
I ordered a sprout omelet and my husband ordered the crem brûlée french toast. It was supposed to work out that we each eat half and switch. Neither of us wanted to switch. We tasted each other's breakfast and admired how very good it was also, but chose to eat what we ordered! :) I know you cannot fall in love with food... but hear me out! The brussels were not simply chopped. Nope. The care to peal them apart leaf by leaf, and cook them just enough before adding the parm and smoked bacon... OMG! I cannot wait to go back. I didn't know this place existed until I found myself downtown looking for a brunch place. As a self professed foodie this place did not disappoint! The fruit was fresh. The vibe was there, the place was clean, the staff is friendly and that food!!! (Insert drool here) if you can't decide? Go to Babo! Yup. #fave.new.food

Warm and Inviting service and atmosphere. Great music. Fun movies playing over the bar. Amazing menu. And you can't lose with the drinks. Must stop brunch spot in the city. The food was spicy and the atmosphere was cool! We were glad we had a reservation on a weekend morning, as the restaurant was completely full by 10 am. Host greeting was super friendly and they had our table all ready. Service was really nice and wait time for food was reasonable. If you do nothing else here - order yourself a coffee drink. The iced vanilla latte was heavenly. Our food was a slightly mixed bag. The huevos rancheros were uncomfortably spicy - both from the jalapenos and the rancheros sauce. Like fire hot. It made it hard to eat. The diego skillet had delicious guacamole and eggs were nicely cooked. Overall, it could have used more seasoning for flavor. read more

Had a lovely brunch here on a Sunday. Make sure to make reservations (I had them) because it's a tiny place!! Nice and bright and cozy. Service was great. The cappuccino was so good! I had the B.E.L.T sandwich and my friend had the chorizo omelette. Excellent. We shared a plate of truffle fries. Cooked to perfection and enough for 2 to share. Will definitely be back!! read more

How have I never heard of this gem until today?!?! I went with a couple other art teachers after a teacher event at the DIA this morning and thoroughly enjoyed it! We had to wait 45 minutes on a Saturday at just before noon. Not a huge deal. Our server was so pleasant but clearly very busy. However, he never seemed stressed about it. What was ordered: cappuccino, latte, sangria (x4 ), waffle and berries, and some breakfast hash with eggs. Everything was phenomenal. The sangria though, that was top tier. I would go back and wait just for that. We didn't feel rushed, even though there was a wait and we decided to stay for a round of sangrias after we paid for brunch. TIP: you can make reservations. Do yourself a favor and do it. It was an expensive 45 minute wait...I bought some perfume at the Peacock Room while waiting. read more
The place is very cute. The staff is friendly. The truffle fries were amazing. They were crispy and flavorful to the last fry. The lemon ricotta pancakes were dense and not a lot of flavor. The omelette was good. The avocado was okay I have had much better anywhere else. The bread was dry and they didn't put anything on it. The breakfast smash was flavorless. Almost everything needed a sauce or seasoning other than the truffle fries and the lemonade. The lavender lemonade and the regular lemonade were very good. Excellent lunch at Babo on a beautiful Sunday. We lucked into a just-open table and the vibe was busy but never frantic. The cinnamon honey latte was super flavorful and not too sweet with rich espresso. The brussel sprouts hit every note with a balanced honey maple glaze, goat cheese, and apple and the sprouts were nicely crispy. The wild mushroom & truffle omelette carried a light truffle aroma with earthy mushrooms and the chilled side salad was fresh and lightly dressed. The breakfast smash on challah felt surprisingly light for a breakfast sandwich and the home fries were freshly crisped. The new menu feels less about looks and more about a diverse, well executed selection. I liked Babo before and I love it now! read more
I love breakfast and brunch and this is one of my favorite spots to visit in Midtown. I've taken my dad, friends, loved ones -- it's a great place on a sunny day. White, crisp, and clean. The breakfast menu is high quality, and just about everything is good to try once. I had the best chai tea latte (w espresso) my last visit there, and the mushroom omelette. Their home fries/potatoes are delicious - and service is always good. Would recommend on an early weekend. They have never disappointed! read more

The service was wonderful, everyone was very attentive and kind!! There were so many unique menu items to choose from I was so excited to try one! I started with the mimosa which was top notch and so very delicious! I had a hard time choosing what to order, the menu is amazing!! I decided on the kimchi patatas bravas. It was garlic roasted potatoes, napa cabbage kimchi, gochujang sauce, garlic aioli, cilantro, two eggs any style. This was one of the most amazing breakfast dishes I have ever tasted! SO many amazing flavors and the choice to top with a runny yolk egg put it over the top! So delicious!! Space was cool, but it seemed a little tight for my friend who was 6'5". Moreover, the environment felt a little "preppy". The staff was attentive and friendly. The skillet tasted great and had a lot of flavor. I enjoyed the candied pecans a lot. read more

Great place for a hearty healthy breakfast before hitting up the DIA. Just around the corner from the gallery is this hidden Gem. We had breakfast and could t have been happier we chose this place. The service was quick, they seated us without a reservation but it might be recommended to not be disappointed. We both ordered the Eggs Benny, it had sweet bacon and avocado slices with a poached egg and hollandaise sauce. It was so good! It didn't stand a chance. The place itself is very charming, great music and good looking people. read more
Visited my bff who's stationed in Detroit. We were so hungry so we stopped by here on the way to her home from the airport. We didn't have a reservation but were seated right away. Place is small but cozy and cute. They have great brunch menu and some Asian fusion dish. I tried hot Korean style wings and they were crispy and good. Amazing and delicious food. You can tell (and taste) food prep and ingredients were top-notch! Service was great, attentive and absolutely friendly. I would take a star off of ambience. It's not too loud but tables were too close - close enough for us to hear intimate or private conversations to our right and left. But leaving 5 stars for overall great experience. read more

It's nice to find a place with tasty, healthy options. I enjoyed my Harvest Salad with Salmon. However, some of the food is overly salty. My salmon was well-cooked but too salty. Same with the Truffle Fries. My friend ordered the Korean Beef Cheesesteak with Sweet Potato Fries. The sweet potato fries were less salty so I recommend that over regular or truffle fries. I have not tried breakfast, but that appears to be what they are known for, so that may be where you'll find Babo's best dishes. As a COVID-conscious individual, I'm not a fan of how the tables are so close together, and there are no open windows or options for outdoor dining. read more

This place has been on my list to visit for brunch for a well. I finally made it!!! The esthetic is clean, paired with good music. They do need to upgrade their chairs to be wide hip/bigger bottoms friendly. I tried to sit in a chair and it was super uncomfortable. The service and food were great. I came for the lemon ricotta pancakes and they didn't disappoint. The expresso martini is heavenly. I'll for sure be back. read more

Yes. You can get it by the bottle and ask for a side of whatever juices you want. Or you can get by the glass. I'd recommend just ask for the bottle 🍾
