Came in on busy opening day, we were sat almost immediately. Our server took a little while to come over but he was friendly. I ordered the smash burger 10/10 it came with home made chips 10/10. I also had a strawberry lemon drop 10/10. This restaurant isnsuoer cute. They play old-school r&b and it's nice. I will return.

Had such a great brunch here the day before the Detroit Marathon! It was right be the finish line area as we were looking around. We started with the lavender lemonade and blood orange spritz mocktails which were both delicious. We also ordered their fries with truffle and garlic dips. They were piping hot, a huge portion, and the dips were great. Easily could have split between 4-6 people. I ordered the huevos rancheros entree. The textures and composition of the dish were good, but the overall flavor was a bit bland. Even the salsa didn't have much flavor or spice. My friend ordered the Chef's Omelette which is different every weekend. This time it was a Chicken Parmesan Omelette which she enjoyed. Our server was attentive, friendly, and great! The restaurant is a fun mix of modern and old, with the high detailed ceilings. We had a higher two person booth near the bar but there were 6 person booths, tables, and an enclosed outside area.

First timer here, went for Sunday brunch with a friend. It was busy but we were able to get seated without a reservation. The ambiance is cozy and welcoming. There is an outdoor patio seating area. The staff were friendly and attentive. I ordered the Huevos Rancheros and it was not what I expected. I thought I ordered the wrong thing because it looked like a quesadilla. When I took my first bite, I was amazed by all the flavors blending together. It was delicious and full of flavor. I loved it, especially topped with the fresh cilantro and crema. I don't know why I was expecting like a breakfast bowl/ skillet situation. The side of potatoes were delightful. I didn't need them but they were seasoned well and worth it. My friend ordered the Smoked Salmon Flatbread. I tried it, it was good. Topped with arugula and dill cream sauce was refreshing. You can tell that the ingredients are fresh. I truly enjoyed my meal and the DJ was icing on the cake. Overall, 10 out of 10 so far, I look forward to trying other items on the menu.

I loved my brunch experience here today!! Great music and excellent service. Everyone was so nice and attentive. True teamwork. Fabulous vibe! Wonderful food. I really enjoyed my Huevos Rancheros and my friend's omelette was fantastic too. Great location in downtown Detroit. Indoor and outdoor seating. If you're looking for a great time, come here.

I love Central Kitchen + Bar, great location and design and it is ALWAYS a vibe in there! I went for a group event on a Saturday for a brunch and the energy was unmatched. The service was top tier, as the staff serviced our large group perfectly. I didn't each much, but what I did have was very good. The Salmon Croquette was delicious, nice flavor. The Potatoes were good, could have used just a little bit more seasoning in my opinion. Lastly, the Peach Cobbler Crepes were very good! Must get when I go again.

This was the PERFECT dinner location during the Detroit Grand Prix weekend - we got a table in the sunroom space outside of the main restaurant, and had both a great view and could clearly hear the opening performer for the Sat night concert in Cadillac Square. Perhaps not for everyone (it was loud) but we loved it! Food was overall pretty good! American/Internationally inspired fare, more elevated than a standard bar menu. Our party of 4 shared the truffle fries and broccolini to start, both of which were yum. I got the Mushroom Dip sandwich, which was good but a little salty! Good mushrooms though. Also tried my husband's Chicken Shawarma salad and my friend's Ahi Tuna salad. Both hit the spot, but maybe not my absolute favorite versions of these dishes. Not a huge menu but it felt like there were definitely options for many different tastes! And definitely hit the spot.

Shrimp tacos with chips and salsa. The tacos were a little dry and bland. $22 plus they automatically add 20% tip. Not worth it.

Found this spot on a whim looking for somewhere to eat before the marathon. Our servers were Alana and Micah and they were both so great and personable! Our food was all very tasty - highly recommend the sweet potato soup. Outside seating is also really nice.

They have amazing lunch offerings here like salads and other healthy appetizers. Their green summer bisque soup is out of this world! Very wide selection on their menu, with nice seating in an enclosed outdoor area. Interior has a very stylish vibe - service also very attentive and amazing. Highly recommended as a lunch spot in downtown Detroit!

I was looking for a specific type of restaurant to go to and this restaurant came up in my search. Parking is a little rough so you definitely have to pack your patience or be prepared to walk a little bit. We were immediately greeted when we entered and the excellent customer service continued throughout the experience. I got the chef's special (fish and chips). It was the best fish and chips that I have had in years...possibly ever. The fish (perch) was seasoned well and fried to perfection. They served it with three sauces as well as additional condiments that complimented the fish as well as the chips (fries). We celebrated a few special occasions and indulged in the carrot cake which was delicious. (There was a distinct taste to the apples that it was garnished with that we could've done without.) They brought over some ice cream for my friend's birthday as well. Overall, this was a great experience and I would definitely recommend this to anyone who asked.

Food 4/5 The smash burger with chips, herb fries and Power salad were outstanding. The wings were not favorite, because they had too much of a lemony sauce and could have been baked more to congeal the sauce. I would order evening again, except the wings. My friend had the salmon bowl and said it was very delicious--beautiful presentation of veggies with the fish. My cocktail was very tasty, Lavender Bees Knees Service 5/5 Our group attempted to dine at 3 other restaurants before making our way here, and we were met with one off putting server and closed or no further dining space for brunch. It was very refreshing to be greeted warmly by the hostess immediately with seating and a great server, Saffiyah. Ambiance 4/5 I've be a patron of Central Kitchen before, and it's been a while, so I was happy to have a good dining experience.

Service sets Central Kitchen + Bar apart. Knowledgable wait staff guide you through the menu with charm and warmth. There are great views of the street from most tables in the restaurant, however there is a peculiar wait station breaking up the long view in the interior. The drinks are solid, and the beer is perfectly cold. I loved the ricotta and honey with caramelized tomatoes spread. The bread, though thickly cut, was perfect with a nice buttery sear on each side. The bolognese is also very enjoyable - classic and comforting. The French dip was good in parts - the sauce a bit too savory and the crease of the sandwich had an overwhelming quantity of mayonnaise. I took a photo but I'll spare you, because overall the experience was very enjoyable. If you find yourself thirsty and/or hungry in downtown Detroit, the Central Kitchen + Bar is definitely worth a visit.

Ambiance. Packed on a Fri night. Seems like this spot is to see and be seen. Beautiful people. Interesting decor. Bar is the main attraction, but the atrium seating had a relaxing lounge vibe. But music was a tad too loud for this old lady. Service. Wonderful. Timely. Friendly. F&B. BEST PART. That Burrata Toast changed my life. WOW... the combination of the textures and flavors were PERFECTION: savory-sweet-juicy housemade tomato jam, creamy-salty burrata, and crispy-crunchy zucchini chips, and chewy wholesome artisan bread kept amazing me. And the housemade Blueberry Lemonade wowed me too. Central Kitchen + Bar, you hit it on the spot. Of note. Street parking. Loos clean and stocked. Overall, highly recommend.

Nate and I stopped in on our most recent visit to Detroit and had a lovely experience. The space is tucked away but had a surprising amount of outdoor space--we were there in January but I'd love to come back in the summer. We were greeted right away and given a spot near the bar. The menu includes cocktails, lots of wine, and several tasty food options. It was quite busy inside, so it took a bit of time for our server to come over to us, but we weren't in a rush. They had ten cocktails on their list and I tried the bullet proof soul and Nate got the negroni alla perra. The ingredients list for some of the cocktails include things I've never heard of, but at a place like this, I just know it's going to be good. Our drinks were perfectly balanced and very tasty. We also ordered the mortadella sandwich to split--this was delicious. It was pretty messy, but worth it. It was perfectly toasted and full of mortadella. Everything on the menu sounded delicious and I would love to try more of the food options. Can't wait to visit again!

Downtown Detroit definitely feels different now, and the crowd has shifted a bit, but none of that took away from what The Standby is. That alleyway magic is still there. Walking in honestly felt like a little blast from the past, and it made me really happy. It ended up being a highlight of my trip home. The food was phenomenal. The crab was so buttery, the waffle situation was amazing, and the overall execution across the menu was impressive. We ordered a lot, basically half the menu and everything hit. * Short rib plate: delicious, rich, and comforting * Chicken schnitzel with curry mustard: WOW. Juicy, crunchy, fresh, perfectly seasoned. The curry mustard was everything, and that little pepper on top? 10/10. This was hands down my favorite dish. * Drinks: They had brand ambassadors for Wild Turkey, giving out free Old Fashioneds, which was honestly the perfect touch. We also had a small ounce pour of a mezcal that was beautifully smoked, super aromatic and smoky in the best way. Service was great too, we had two different servers, and both were attentive and kind. The only miss for me personally was the pastrami salmon toast. I wanted to love it so badly because I love salmon and I love smoked fish, but it just wasn't for me. I actually sent it back (which I felt bad about). I think the slight sweetness, (possibly from the tomato jam)threw it off for my palate. I was craving something fully savory with a bit of acidity. I think a thicker, crunchier toast and a more umami-forward, citrusy or pickled element might have taken it where it needed to go. That said, I know pastrami-style salmon is a thing right now, it just didn't work for me. Everything else? Truly amazing. The Standby will forever be a place I come back to when I'm home. I'm excited to return, see what's new on the menu, and relive that magic again. Highly recommend. 10 out of 10. Will absolutely be back.

Between the two of us we had the beet salad, burger and steak tartare. Burger was good, but not the best smash burger that I've had. Beet salad was fine, however the cream cheese was a bit overpowering against the orange oil. It was dying for some citrus. Steak tartare was a bit dry, meaning that a small dab of olive oil would have added to the richness and overall mouth feel. I did not really taste the egg although I did see a dab of yolk on the tartare. Needed a bit of salt also to enhance the taste Menu was small, but it did cover a cross section of French bistro dishes. All in all, I thought it was a bit overpriced. So I will have to consider returning for a full meal. I would come back for a burger and beer at the bar.
