Candy bar is one of my favorite spots in Detroit. It's so beautiful and girly. The ambiance is like no other. You feel like a mermaid coming here. The lighting is really calming and I love the chandelier and disco ball. I always feel so relaxed when I come here. I have tried several drinks here but I tried the pickletini and it was so good. I love pickles to begin with but it tasted like a dirty martini but way better. This is in the siren hotel which is also so gorgeous. This is such a hot and trending spot. The space is fairly small and the seats at the bar have reservations. Make sure you make one to ensure a spot. They have an amazing cocktail menu of course and the space inside is very cozy. Since we didn't have a reservation, we only had 20 minutes at a table before a reservation was coing in. My friend enjoyed the Goblin and the Double Negroni. We snacked on the kettle chips and they were crispy, fresh, and well seasoned. Excellent service from Hailee. The staff is super sweet and are attentive. They come by pretty frequently and fast. I got a bees knees of sorts and my friend got one that was banana flavored. The bees knees was delicious and it's a simple cocktail done well. The banana one was just too artificial for my liking. Some of their extra creative cocktails really do travel that fine line, so be careful. I've heard amazing things about their espresso martini - so if that's your thing it might be a great go-to here. I won't lie, when I realized we were staying at the Siren which houses Candy Bar, I got really excited. I've heard about this spot for a while but never really knew where it was. I was thinking Nate and I could just pop in for a drink right when they opened, but we ended up missing that timeframe. I kept checking for a reservation but the only options were at 12 am or later...! Luckily we happened to stop by and inquire about the wait around 8 pm on a Saturday and were told we could have the last two seats at the bar, but only for a strict 40 minute time limit. That was totally okay by us as we have a one drink limit when we're checking out more than one bar. The bar is teeny tiny; you really need a reservation. It's decorated in the same dusty pink found throughout the Siren hotel and the highlights are the huge disco ball and enormous chandelier above the bar. The menu has lots of great, unique creations as well as some nice bourbon options and other spirits. I got the Sometimes, Always: tequila, watermelon, aperol, lemon, sugar, and Nate got the Dulce Trejo: mezcal, cacao liqueur, montenegro, oat milk, and chocolate. The bartender serving us whipped them up super fast and they were both delicious, but the Dulce Trejo was one of my favorite drinks I've tried in recent memory. I am exploring mezcal and haven't always liked how smoky it can be, but this combination of flavors really worked well to create a creamy, dessert-y drink that Nate and I both loved. We let the bartender know how good we thought it was and he told us it was one of his own creations. He said that whenever he makes up a drink with tequila or mezcal in it, he names it after Danny Trejo. I thought that was funny and interesting, and I want to drink that drink again. They're not cheap at $15-$16, but I'd stop by again for a nightcap. read more

When we arrived, it looked to be an unassuming hotel from the outside, but when we entered into the hotel lobby, it was just the cutest boutique hotel! We came on a Monday about 90 minutes before they closed (without a reservation). They weren't busy at all when we arrived and we were seated immediately. The bartender made a few recommendations and none of the drinks disappointed! By the time we were finishing up, it got pretty busy and almost every seat was filled. It's kind of dark and romantic inside with several cozy booths. Our waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable about many different kinds of liquor. An all around interesting and engaging guy. I had a Valentine's Day themed cocktail that was sorry of like a cosmo but had pomegranate and some other things in it. Then we both had an old fashioned. Both drinks were very good.
