The omakase was 10/10 The service was 1/10 The waiters did not state what fish we were presented from the chef until we asked each time. As you can see in the pictures, they did not take our old plates and each time we had to ask for additional items/ needs because they would not check in on us. We were offered the chef special at $50 per person but you can name your price. After a few plates the waiter said how are you feeling would you like more? We said of course we loved the taste of everything, but then he came back and said that was the limit of what we paid for. Of course as omakase you just get what the chef provides so we had no idea what to expect or how much. He said we can just give you mochi now Horrible service!! Again, the fish was all amazing

8 pc nigiri and spicy tuna

Sushi was good and fresh! I tried the 8 pc nigiri and spicy tuna which was a nice way to sample everything and get a mix. Our server was very attentive and made good recommendations. The space is small and parking is on the street so I'd definitely get there a little early to make sure you can find a spot. Overall would come again!

Nice vibe and great service! The sushi was solid, an easy 8 out of 10. I'll definitely be back to try more items from the menu. If you're heading to the DSO or a nearby concert, they offer a 10% discount on drinks when you show your ticket stub, which was a pleasant surprise. I think they should advertise that more because it's a great perk. Loved the ambience overall but the music just wasn't quite my style, but still a solid spot all around.

Various rolls, & the medium sashimi boat. WOW this was all so fresh & delicious!!

Wow what an unexpected "hidden gem"! I happened to luckily find this place by looking at Google maps. I am so happy I found one of the best sushi spots in Detroit! This place is smaller and more intimate, but they have such fresh sushi and fun Detroit-esque ambiance & decor. Service was a bit slow but outstanding. I think it's because we were the only seated booth in a far corner. It's no excuse but the staff still made us feel like the most important patrons there. Sushi was so incredibly fresh, the sashimi was nice & cold. $29 for a medium sashimi boat was an incredible value, especially considering the large cuts of sashimi! They have a unique drink menu. Wines available, full bar, solid happy hour deals. Already Looking forward to my next visit!

Stopped here for sushi and cocktails. This is my first time here, upon first glance it's cute. Minimal seating but a larger bar area with seating. Our server got us seated immediately without a reservation.I ordered the snow crab California rolls, spicy salmon teriyaki roll and a lovebird drink, all of it was tasty.

Came here for happy hour and the menu is pretty good! It did not include cocktails, but the basic sushi rolls were included. The staff were great and let us get a last call happy hour order in. I also love how small and intimate it is, but it feels much larger because of the big windows and high ceilings. We ended up staying after to order some of the specialty rolls and cocktails. Everything was really good! Definitely would come back for a drink.

Very cool bar! Featuring the bartenders special: a porch punch with tequila (super good)!

Recently reopened after being closed throughout all of COVID (as a result lost most of their staff so come and support this business)! Open currently on Sundays from 12-5 with a different DJ and rotating food trucks each week. Indoor and outdoor seating - very mid century mad men vibes at this spot! The drinks are well worth your money here and will definitely be giving you Sunday Funday vibes after 2 drinks. Pro tip: they're open only on Sunday's currently and street parking is free on Sunday's. It's a win-win.

Here with friends, we've been wanting to try this place for a while. Very nice decor with a large bar and huge windows. The bartenders are super helpful and attentive, happy to review the drink menu and find something for your tastes. Tried a variety of cocktails and happy with all. Would definitely return.

Hammer & Nail is the low-key impressive experience we've been looking for in Midtown but haven't been afforded by the number of preposterously expensive restaurants and bars that have cropped up in recent years. As we were walking up, I told my friend that I felt like if I lived in the Hammer & Nail building, I'd have to have some expertly curated, midcentury modern apartment, with a multiple-thousand dollar vinyl record player, and an expansive collection that I could play while wearing period-appropriate sweaters in muted lime greens or mustard yellows or what have you. Possibly a polyester suit of some sort. This is kind of the vibe that they're going for in the bar, which occupies a skinny end of the mid-60's building. I was promised that this place would be bad and bougie, though it does, in many ways, have the best of both worlds. You can order from a list of classic cocktails, or you can order, quite impressively, a $3 Schlitz or Blatz. I've never even had a Blatz-- and I consider myself a connoisseur of terrible, Midwestern beers. There are maybe two places in Detroit you can get a Schlitz. White-suited staff-- complementing the vibe of the floor-to-ceiling, later-midcentury windows, are attentive, but not unnecessarily so-- the menu is simple and the space, in spite of its spatial grandeur, is without pretense. Service is fast even at peak times. There are a limited number of snacks you can order that aren't very good, but also aren't terrible, either-- we had a shrimp cocktail that wasn't delightful but was served with a cocktail sauce with perhaps horseradish on top? Food portion of the menu might need to be ironed out a bit more.

Arrived a 7 and plenty of tables to pick from. The very long bar was pretty full. Nice choice of cocktails and other options too. Small snack menu, but it embraces the retro vibe so not normal bar food. The service model needs work, but realize this bar is still really new. In first 10 minutes had 3 or 4 waiters check on us but after our first round we had to go to bar to first order food, later to get more drinks and at the end to get our bill. Felt comfortable and laid back. Music was quiet enough that you could easily talk. This place will go in our rotation.

This was a cool, new cocktail bar in the city and we needed to check it out. Located in an office building, this cocktail bar is located on the first floor. We walked in and found seats a the bar. The decor is unique and I love the throw back vibe. Hammer and Nail offers a wide variety of drinks and craft cocktails. The bartenders were accommodating and offered suggestions. The price point for cocktails is similar to most upscale lounges in the city. If you plan on attending an event or are in the mood for a night cap, this is a perfect spot.

The restaurant was getting full by 6pm, so having a reservation is probably best. We finally got a chance to eat here and decided on the Tasting Menu ($95/pp, the whole table has to have it) because a lot of the dishes were items we were already looking at. We started off with some drinks, all the drinks were well balanced and not too sweet-perfect. For Tequila: Good Behavior & (Mezcal): Better Off Red were super delicious. Note for the tasting menu (for the 2 of us), they plated 1 dish per course so just note that you do not each get a separate plate so I'm assuming the portions are double (although I wonder what they do for a single person and the whole trout...). I guess it's nice to share a plate so my hubby could enjoy more food but seems like a lot of plates and silverware getting used/changed with each course so it makes me wonder why each person doesn't just get their own portion. Anyway, first course: I don't really like scallops, but these scallops was cool, refreshing with a very mild scallop flavor so I really enjoyed it! Second: tomato tart with goat cheese +heirloom tomatoes salad (very good), Third: Ricotta Gnocchi (YUM), a lot of pancetta pieces, Fourth: Whole trout (the chef removed 95% of the bones, yay, loved that. It was pretty mild taste which was overall good, I liked all the different mushrooms that came with it & Last: Banana Split- feels healthy with the banana there and wow, the cherries look like Luxardo ones. Honestly, this was a good amount of food (I wasn't overly stuffed thankfully but full). I would definitely recommend the Tasting Menu (note, no modifications/subs allowed) and was glad we ordered it. The pacing was not hurried (we were not in a rush), but they can definitely accommodate (bring 2 courses out at a time), if you need to be somewhere by a certain time for a show or game. They also have a free parking lot (fenced in)! We will most definitely be back, it was an amazing night at Bar Pigalle!

The theme was "Yes, Chef: An exploration of culinary icons through a cocktail lens." Each drink was inspired by or dedicated to a famous culinary icon, and you can read about each one in the index. We each ordered one drink from each section. From the Opening, I chose the Diaspora Club, which was so refreshing and delicious. Then from the Principals, I chose the Chingona, which was a little bit spicy and savory but still so refreshing. To Finish, I chose the Chocolatier Cosmo, which came with a tiny house-made salted dark chocolate. I loved all three cocktails I ordered, especially the chocolatier cosmo because it was perfectly sweet and went so well with the small piece of chocolate. For food, we started off with the crispy pork belly milk bread. For my entree, I ordered the miso butter gnocchi. It was kind of on the salty side but I still really liked it. The apple sofrito added a bit of sweetness to it. For dessert, we had to get the rhubarb coffee cake, which came with strawberry ice cream. Omg one of the best desserts I've ever had!! I never thought of combining cinnamon coffee cake with rhubarb or strawberry but it's perfect, and I might have to make something like that soon. Service was great and we were seated right away at 8pm on a Saturday despite not having a reservation. Food and drinks came out promptly and timed perfectly. We spent about 1.5 hours here and we never felt rushed.
