This is one of the most unique and cool bars I have experienced. It has the right vibe and is not gimmicky. You can order a "spell" with your drink, which I did not do, but my friend did. I did get a tarot card and a spell from the machines as I was leaving. Service was beyond amazing. We sat at the bar and Josh was our bartender. He was very personable and extremely knowledgeable. Josh explained the different types of spirits, including their origin and flavor profile, as well as the different cocktails. I got a Permission Granted and a Part and Parcel drink. Both were smooth and well balanced. If you're in the area, I would add this one-of-a-kind bar to your list!

I stopped here to see what all the fuss was about. I must say small but great . Great drinks , great atmosphere once inside. Great service. I ordered a drink called the part and parcel and my friend ordered a Long Island both were delicious. We sat at the bar and the bartenders or should I say mixologist were so nice. They explained how mezcal was made and talked about what drink we would like by asking us what we would usually drink. I really enjoyed this place. Lights are low ambiance is nice . It's a must stop. Great prices! Great drinks Great staff!

I just had my first and second visits to The Black Salt on consecutive weekends -- that's how much I liked it the first time! I wasn't sure what to expect re: the witchy vibe (my wife was very into it going in!), but it was honestly great. You can really lean into it and do the spells, or you can just treat it like a regular cocktail bar -- either is very enjoyable. The drinks are really good -- I've tried a bunch but my favorites so far have been the Witching Hour and the Pistachio Coffee Martini. Can't really go wrong here, though, and the pricing is actually good compared to similar level craft cocktail bars. If there's something to nitpick, it's how long it can sometimes take to get drinks. There are no servers coming to the table, so everything is ordered at the bar. Since these are craft cocktails, they take a while to make and that can sometimes crate a traffic jam by the bar. Overall though, that's a small price to pay for a seriously cool witchy cocktail experience!

The Black Salt was super cool. It's a nice neighborhood bar to stop in before or after dinner. The atmosphere is dark and laid-back. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The website states, "seating is first come," but I had to sit at the bar. I couldn't sit in the more private area because I was told it was reserved. I went in already knowing that I wanted a spell along with my drink. Yeah, it's that kind of spot, a mystical unique witchcraft bar. They offer rituals and spells with select drinks. There are also non-ritual drinks and also non-alcoholic ones. I visited to start my birthday weekend celebration setting intentions for a wonderful personal new year. I couldn't decide if any of the spell drinks aligned with my intentions at first, so I went with a general ritual "Transmission" for love. Doesn't every good thing begin with love? It was tasty, made with bourbon, ginger, grapefruit, and honey. I also ordered a spinach pastry so as not to drink alcohol on an empty stomach. There are a few other items available for noshing. I didn't stay long, I had another engagement. But the bar filled up pretty quickly after opening. It seems like a popular place. I parked on the street at a meter, but strangely enough, the next block didn't seem to have meters. Also, the hostess informed me that the lot across the street is free to park in. Before I left, I walked through to check out the esthetic. I was into it. There's a patio out back, a cool upper level, and an even more cozy space in the back of the house, before one walks out to the patio. I don't know if the space is available for private rental, but it would make for a dope party with different mystical stations, if you will. Do check them out. I would imagine that The Black Salt is going to grow by leaps and bounds.

My friend owed me a drink and has been wanting to take me to The Black Salt, especially since it totally fits my vibes (goth, witchy), so when I came into town, of course we had to pay The Black Salt a visit! Evelynn (hope I'm spelling it right) the bartender is awesome! They were very kind to explain to us how to follow the instructions of casting spells on our cocktails. We drank the Love Ritual and the Prosperity Ritual. They were both lovely to imbibe. Definitely loved this lovely little bar.

Had to do the Love Ritual, of course!

Finally made it here!! I have been anxiously awaiting the opening of this new cool spot in Hamtramck. I can now see why it was impossible to get into on opening day. It's tiny inside! This is a great spot to come and chat with friends. They have a unique vibe to them that is wicked cool! It's a witchy atmosphere with crystals and everything. You can order a drink from the menu or something else if you'd like. I chose the Transmission He got a Pisces. Mine was quite strong but very good his drink was a lot milder. When you order a drink from the menu, you can get it with or without the ritual or with or without alcohol. If you'd like the ritual, you place your coaster with the pentagram side up. If you don't want one, you place it logo side up. I chose the love ritual, because I can always use all the help I can get. Lol. My niece is turning 21 and this looks like the absolute perfect spot for her party. They have a private room upstairs that fits 8-14 people. It can be reserved ahead of time. This is a 21 and over only spot. So, I'm not sure if we can have it here because some of the party goers works still be under 21. But we could always have one here and one somewhere else. It seems like the perfect spot to me. If you haven't been here yet, check it out! We moved on and ended up just going to a bunch of dive bars. Perfect night!

The Black Salt is a cute little establishment located off Holbrook & Jos Campau in Hamtramck. It is an old house on a one way street, so quaint. There are little seating areas located throughout, and a nice outside area for beautiful days/nights. The decor is metaphysical & earthly. I love it! You must order your magical cocktails from the bar. The service is as quick as it can be. Concocting craft cocktails is an art form, be patient! The reward is a tasty drink (you may get in a N/A form) with an option to perform a spell while enjoying each sip. Pop in at The Black Salt! You will enjoy this eclectic experience.

Stumbled upon The Black Salt last night, and wow--what a vibe. The place is like stepping into the coolest, witchiest den you never knew you needed. Everything is black, dramatic, and perfectly curated, giving off that mysterious yet totally inviting energy. Our bartender gave us a great intro to the menu and our options for getting witchy-or not-depending on what we were feeling. I went for the Knot So Tight, a bourbon cocktail with a twist--it doubles as a spell to banish someone from your life. Now, I'm not exactly into magic or witchcraft, but I have to say, there was something pretty fun and oddly calming about performing a mini spell right at the bar. Whether it actually works or not, the drink was delicious, and the whole experience was one for the books. So maybe the magic is working in at least one way--because I already want to go back.

Small bar in a neighborhood street just off the main strip. Limited street parking and nearby small lots. Inside is a quiet bar with some tables. Bar service. Sort of a classy spooky theme. The hook is that several of the cocktails can be made with magic spells. The prices are not bad, and they also have decently priced beer and wine. The staff were polite and friendly. The cocktails are way too sweet. Much too sweet.

Had a very relaxing and magical evening at The Black Salt. From the minute you walk in, it feels like a cozy relaxing place. The owner thought of every detail. We ordered two drinks that came with spells, you received instructions, rice paper and edible pen ink. The cocktails were also very delicious. Surprisingly it was mostly females but I would recommend it at a cute date night spot. The lighting is very romantic and the drinks are sexy!

    Greetings

Love the vibe. So intimate & loungey. Perfect for a date or girls nite. I had one of the spell cocktails, and I swear it's working. The service was great! The DJ was an added bonus!

Be still my (former) neighborhood heart. Catching up - cocktails here are still top notch: top as in they taste great, notch as in they could take you down one with their strength. I rolled back in here right after Christmas and started tasting my way through the menu with the Squash mezcal boi. Normally I would never try a drink with boi in its name, but this name is a part of Kiesling's history, and squash? Come on. I had to try it, and it put me right back in the neighborhood as if I had just walked down across the bridge on Brush for a couple of drinks. (And someone please tell me, am I dreaming, didn't we used to cross on Beaubien, too?) I followed that up with the Kie Rye Pie because I cannot resist rhyming, and I am fascinated with drambuie. I thought the drink might be too sweet and was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't. I had to close the night out with the Pear Pressure because, alas, there is still no food at the Kiesling, and there was no pop up, and I didn't want eat carryout at the bar. The drink was great, but after three I was feeling the booze and headed across the street for something to eat. This bar is cozy with its wooden interior. It still serves a beer and a shot. And folks are friendly, but not going to get in your business unless you invite them.
