Stopped here for breakfast with our family and it was super cool vibes! I think it was in an old church - loved the openness inside. There's also a nice patio out on the side, connected with its pizza sister restaurant. The drinks we got were a little sweet for me but had some fun seasonal options. The bagels were nice and a good variety for five of us to share.
10/10 coffee shop!! Such a unique space for a coffee shop that made for a fun experience. Great coffee options as well as food options. Very friendly staff! Was quite busy when I went but ample seating and dining space. Can't wait to return!! Drink: -Sesame caramel latte with oat milk. An interesting combination but super tasty! Food: - prosciutto, egg, and provolone cheese on an everything bagel with plain cream cheese. Don't know if these flavors quite go together but it was enjoyable overall.
The Congregation is such a unique place! I stopped by with my parents when we were spending some time in Detroit last week. The Congregation is located within a restored historic church in the Boston-Edison neighborhood. It's business that's hard to define, because it does and is so much. It's a cafe, bar, event space, and more. There's indoor space, lots of outdoor space, and great atmosphere/character. We visited in the morning, so we enjoyed some coffees and breakfast. My stepdad had a mocha and a Danish. I had a cappuccino and my mom and I shared their a vegan bagel (they offer vegan cream cheese as well as other vegan options). The customer service was really friendly, and the space is beautiful. I wish we'd been able to visit at night when it becomes a bar with music, because we went past it a couple of times at night and it looked like such a fun time! I'd love to return to the Congregation!
On another adventure with Jillian, we went to The Congregation, a lovely cafe on the east side. I'd seen photos of it and pictured it as a huge repurposed church. To my surprise, it's smaller than expected, but a very cozy place to relax and enjoy refreshments. The place has a very chilled vibe, and the staff is warm and welcoming. I had a mocha, which is one of the best in town. It was well made with the right balance of coffee, mocha, cream and sweetness. I paired it with a delicious muffin. If I lived closer, I'd come every day. It's that good.
Love love love the congregation! Great coffee and vibes! They also have great food and drinks. Super nice place to bring your laptop and get some work done. Tons of outdoor seating when it's warm enough and quite a bit of seating inside with real church pews, wooden flooring and stained glass windows. A lot of natural light. They host tons of inclusive events and have a lot of nice merch. I really liked the cornbread cappuccino that was made with corn milk. I got it half sweet and it was still very sweet.

First time here, and the community coffee shop vibe hit me the moment I got out of the car. The cute outdoor seating area faces a playground, and inside it's spacious, quiet, and beautifully designed. The staff were also super friendly, which added to the welcoming feel. I tried the blackberry espresso tonic, which had plenty of real blackberry purée and was refreshing and bright. The matcha with almond milk was also enjoyable, with a strong nutty flavor that I liked. Overall, a lovely spot I'd definitely recommend!

Their coffees are so delicious and this is the place that hooked us on to getting oat milk in our coffees. It makes it so much smoother! It can get very loud in here on the weekend so be prepared if you're looking for a quiet place to work! But there is wifi to do some homework or other things. They have an amazing tomato bisque soup too, which is surprising for a coffee shop!
Love the Congregation any time of day. The seasonal Carrot Cake Chai latte is an absolute must. Love the feel of the space too, the staff is so friendly and fast!
Turkey Melt: 6 . I wish it had more flavor. The ingredients were great quality but the aioli lacked flavor. Carrot Cake Latte: 6. Could've been sweeter. I tasted more milk that anything Vibes/Atmosphere: 8.5
Such a gem, tucked away in a Detroit neighborhood, right off Rosa Parks Blvd. The setting is enchanting: a restored church with attached rectory, lots of relaxing outdoor and patio seating and a stage for live music. Exploring the details of the building and the monthly artist they feature is worth the trip. People watching is another attraction. The Congregation pulls together a diverse group of people, reflecting the neighborhood it calls home. We are mocha snobs and thoroughly enjoyed our mocha prepared in a large mug. It was beautiful, rich and piping hot. This trip, we added a freshly sliced piece of banana chocolate chip bread. Look forward to trying some of their other menu offerings in the future. The staff worked efficiently and were friendly in an "urban setting" kind of way. Seating inside is ample yet also stayed full as this place appears to be quite popular. Prices were reasonable. We will return just to hang out and try more of their offering or the attached pizza place called The Rectory. On Wednesdays, they offer a local farmers market. Kudos to the visionaries who restored this building and created an interesting and warm community gathering place. read more

Unique business set up. You can get cocktails, beer, lattes, wine, coffee, canned bevs, and more. Staff were friendly, chill ambiance. Ordering is done at the counter. Good place to catch up with a friend or grab a cocktail to start the evening. Food menu & grab & go snacks available as well. Cool spot! read more

As a student this place is my top 3 favorite spot to do work. It's gives the best vibe, stress free and community. Their coffee is delicious especially with the lavender or pandan homemade syrups. The staff is always very kind and accommodating to requests. I come here as often as I can for the beautiful interior, free wifi, coffee, and community. read more
Came for a quick tea stop. I tried the Carrot Cale Chai with almond milk. This is flavorful beverage. The atmosphere is an old church which is fitting for the name. The staff were not happy to be at work on this Saturday morning. But I would come back for coffee meet up. There is lots of street parking and lots of seating inside and outside. This place was so good that I needed to go back even though I was only in Detroit for three days. As soon as I browsed their menu online, I knew this was a must-try. They had such fun and unique specialty drinks like the carrot cake chai, cornbread cappuccino, and Earl Grey matcha. My favorite drink was an iced Earl Grey matcha with oatmilk. My favorite food item was the spiced pear and granola bagel with the vegan cream cheese. All the baristas I got to interact with were very sweet and helpful. There were plenty of seating options both indoors and outdoors. They have their coffee shop menu and cocktail bar menu, although I didn't get to try those - it looked like there were some really good options on that menu as well. There is a pizza place right next door. It looks like they have lots of fun nights scheduled, like Open Mic night on the third Friday of the month and Trivia nights on Wednesdays. I am sure this place is an even bigger hit when the weather is nice. I highly recommend you check this place out if you are a coffee shop lover like me. read more

This space is beautiful and great for groups, small meet ups, and events. Hosting events here is seamless and everyone is so helpful. I've hosted some mending groups here. They also have a very nice outdoor space that is great for summer. I have not tried their food yet, but I love the cocktails and lattes. read more

Lovely coffee shop with three (3) seating areas: (1) seating inside the converted church, (2) covered patio/deck seating, and (3) picnic tables on the lawn/grounds. I had the turkey melt which was spectacular and available in record time! And they were busy! So tasty with kale, tomato, red onion, cheese, and a tangy sauce that kicked it into the "special" sandwich category as in I would make a special trip for it, even from the far east side! The dill pasta salad was delish as well. It's worth the drive to check out this gem on Rosa Parks in the Boston-Edison district, and not far from the Clairmount exit off the Lodge/10. read more
Ambiance. Converted cafe from a beautiful, historic church. Many places to sit inside and out -- for larger groups of 8 or just solo diners. Lots of light. The original organ was there, but wonder if it still works? Outside had a patio and huge lawn with chairs that can accommodate events. Seemed like a LOT of students hang out here. Service. Counter service and then they yell your name for pick up. They all seemed nice and hipster. F & B. I had a scone and coffee. Overall, good. They had full bar. There is also a cold reach for lunch items. Loo. Patrons get code from barista. Clean, stocked. Parking. Street. Seemed mostly safe. Overall, very good. Would come back. I hope more businesses get built up around there since this looks like a good anchor business in the neighborhood. read more

really cute, spacious cafe! stumbled upon this gem looking for a coffee shop from the Fisher Theater. looked like a church from the outside so I didn't know if I was in the right place but the signage made it clear I was. they had nice seasonal caffeine options, and seemed like a great place to work (if I had more time and my laptop). the drink was delishhh and I would 100% return! read more

I do and always have like this place the food is tasty the coffee is refreshing and the ambiance couldn't be better. Sometimes the place could be cleaner honestly . But the service is nice and it even has outdoor seating areas with a park in eyesight. You look up and see Art for sale all around you, that to me is beautiful. So this place really checks all the boxes. Parking is decent most days. The only con for me is the gnats and cleanliness at times. But an experience you have to partake in at least one time. read more

I absolutely loved this place! The seating, the menu, the drink menu, the service... everything was very pleasant! I came here by myself so it was really nice to just sit and take in everyone enjoying themselves. Everyone was smiling and some were there as a group enjoying wine and foods while I was sipping on coffee! It was such a vibe! I have zero complaints! I'll definitely be back around here one day soon next time with a couple or a few friends! read more

What a great name, it sums it up. A vibrant coffee shop and full service bar in what was once a shell of a church. Beautifully modernized interiors pay homage to architecture of the past. Such original drink choices from bourbon lattes to orange spice tonic drinks. This place is alive with energy and where you want to stay awhile. read more

Everything about The Congregation is as great as you would imagine it to be. The space itself is amazing and uplifting, the coffee is top notch, and the service is quick and friendly. It's is like a coffee shop you'd see in a sitcom and say, "oh that's not realistic, nothing really looks that good." But it does look that good and it is that good and you should go. read more
